Rumor has it that if your charm is high enough, you can find her playing shogi at a church and if your drive for shogi is good, she'll offer to be your playing partner.

Another great episode! This insight into Japanese culture is truly unique and interesting. Thanks for putting in all the hard work. Can't wait for next episode with Taro, he's a favourite of mine.
Thanks, learned a lot from watching this. They have tried to start some Shogi tournaments here in Canada but we literally have only a handful of players in all of Canada.
Glad I found your channel after seeing Yoko Taro. These are beautiful, so well done. Manao Kagawa seems like an amazing girl. I wish I could talk to someone who had this kind of passion in what they do... Thank you for these, I'm gong to watch all of them.
There were some WONDERFUL shots in this. I've been following you for a while and it's always top notch shots and editing, but this time i've seen so much improvements. Continuez comme ça ! Merci pour ce que vous faites.
@Archipel I would love to see a documentary on the following topics: a tour of board game conventions with interviews of innovative board game and card game creators in Japan, a master artisan crafting traditional Japanese knives, the unique styles of Japanese fashion, and interviews with street photographers capturing life in Japan. These subjects would provide fascinating insights into Japanese culture and creativity! ❤️
I love this! I'm teaching myself Shogi and it's wonderful to see the footage here. So happy that a talented woman like Maneo san is establishing (or established) herself in the Shogi arena. どもありがとございます!
This was one of the videos that inspired me to play shogi. It seems that all my hobbies. Martial arts, shogi and cars all reside in Japan. I might move to Japan eventually
I liked this episode very much. Every new video you upload looks better than the previous, you're doing a really nice job. Thx for sharing these with us.
Just a heads up at 9:45 for english subtitles you put "tanking" instead of "thanking" not a big deal but thought you might want to fix it. Keep up the great work.
Found this channel through the Yoko Taro vid. What a great channel! The Werewolf game they play in the Jinro room section seems very similar to Mafia in the west.
Thank you for your work! An awesome episode like always. I love your work and I think it is a shame that you have such small numbers of subscribers. Please keep up the good work!
The videos you guys upload are always interesting and fun to learn new things from? This was especially interesting since I'm watching San-gatsu no lion, or March comes in like a lion, which features a professional shogi player! By the way, where do you guys get your background music? It's always so nice to listen to.
Bravo pour ces petits reportages assez intimes, toujours d'une grande finesse, ça me transporte toujours. Je suis très impatient de voir l'épisode sur Yoko Taro, ça risque d'être assez loufoque ! (ou peut-être pas ? :)
I like your channel a lot. Every episode brings insights in various aspects of people's lifes. This episode about Manao Kagawa I appreciate a lot. How do you get your partners for every single video?
For we are so afraid of defeat and run from its bitter taste. However without facing strong opposition we will never achieve our full potential. There is no success without failure in fact failure only exists once you stop learning.
*Que vídeo pacífico~ Muito tranquilo, como a Energia que Japão gosta de transmitir !* 🎌🎌🎌🎌 *Sorte para Manao Kagawa~ Futura Campeã Mundial ?!* *TWICE, SHINEE, CafÉ~*
not so related but i play the Werewolf game a lot, we even hold a club and a tournament in our school, but i'm surprised that there were only 3 wolves when she introduced the game, like that's just too smooth for the villagers lol
No offense but, you guys have one of the best channels on TH-cam. (I meant no offense to the other channels that cannot compete with this level of quality videos)
Shogi was opened to women only 40 years ago. But they have a status. Like at the professional level for what I got, you are all equal. They keep track of every game you play and all. While in chess, women have always been allowed to play but there's always distinctions between male and female players. For example there's a women grand master title that doesn't require as much as what it takes to become a male grand master. So basically saying women are not smart enough to be GMs but let's give them something. So the WGM was born which requires way less elo. In a way respect for Japan. For being traditional and allowing women to not be put down by a title. And remember shogi is way harder than chess. So those are real geniuses. You even have to go be careful cause your own pieces that were taken by your opponent can be used against you. Don't get me wrong. Chess also takes your whole life of studying to even achieve national master. Which is the lowest of the titles. But imagine you blunder your queen. And suddenly it's used against you. Unfortunately Japan is so tradition based. And want to keep their culture for themselves only that shogi is basically a Japan exclusive. And yes I know none Japanese people know how to play but compared to chess that didn't mind leaving Europe. It's nothing. Tournaments in chess are well paid. 200k for winning the us open. And even I heard that GMs have a salary. Anyway I hope it goes global one day. Also Go should be global. It's pretty cool. And I have no idea how to play.
Such a crisp video. Can't thank you enough for doing what you guys do!
PS. That 3-gatsu poster at the Shogi Association was a nice addition~

The Werewolf game they play in the Jinro room section seems very similar to Mafia in the west.
I know the game also as The Werewolf Game here in northern Europe.
Un simple merci qui contient toute ma reconnaissance pour votre travail
I am here because I was introduced to Shogi through the Yakuza/Like A Dragon series.
