24 Hour Kayak Fishing Challenge! October Tog, Striper, Ling+

  • Well the time came to do my 24 hr KFC to hopefully take down ELIASV and FISHAHOLIC -
    SUBSCRIBE TO THEM and check out their challenges from October -
    Elias- / eliasvaisberg87
    Fishaholic- / fishaholictv247
    I ended up with a 37" bass, 14" Blue, 21.5" Tog, and a 12" kicker Ling for a total of 84.5".
    **There is no real prize in this challenge, it is mostly for fun and or bragging rights/ entertainment for fellow fishermen, rules say that the challenge is to be done each month, well I unfortunately wasn't able to get mine done until Nov 1st which sorta DQ's me from the competition but here it is anways, a day late.
    Fished the Atlantic of the coast of New Jersey from first light until about 3pm, started out by targeting stripers and hooked up on a few fish but was only able to land one, poorly measured with a shitty tape measure, conservatively 37", the fleet was insane as there was only one body of fish for a few miles, all the boats packed in tighter and tighter tii the fish shut off at about 8:30am. Later in the morning we switched gears and searched for structure and luckily found it and I was able to get some Tog to 21.5" on 1oz magictail tog jigs (www.facebook.c...) with green crabs. At one point a large school of small weakfish/bluefish came through and blacked out our fishfinder screens from 10-40' down, nothing too exciting just lots of small weaks/blues but I managed to get one blue 14" on a bunker snag.. after that went back to toggin but couldnt make it happen until a random 12" Ling found my jig....

    J-hook to prevent gut hooking the bass? Dude, you even you should know that's what circle hooks are for! The j- hooks are directly responsible for a higher mortality rate when it comes to hooked fish. Always remember inline circle hooks for inshore and offset circle hooks for offshore fishing

    The one thing about snagging those damn bunker is they bleed to high hell

  • @Soprano995
    @Soprano995 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    do you do well locating adult bunker by your machine alone or in this case did you see some activity indicating the school? you said they were discovered, so did you just pick up on other boats getting them? "catch your own" lol

    • @ChrisMcIntee
      @ChrisMcIntee  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      usually you can see them on the surface flipping around, all the boats are searching for this and when one school surfaces, everyone catches on at the same time, pretty much this day the bunker school popped up at around 7am and by 7:15 every boat was packing in there. you can def mark them on your screen, seems like usually theyre up top tho... so yea this day we followed the boats, we searched about 2 miles before getting into that one school of bunker.

    • @ChrisMcIntee
      @ChrisMcIntee  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lately I havent been changing the hooks on the sp, just been fishing with a lighter drag. In years past Ill take the back hook off and just use one 4x treble on the front

      @danstephens1388 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    did he mean circel hook cause j hooks gut hook fish

    • @nolanminor6761
      @nolanminor6761 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's really tough to use a circle hook in a kayak because your kayak moves toward the fish as opposed to a boat that remains stationary when you put pressure on the fish. J hook is a lot better than a big treble!

      Great fighting fish for their size, they can carry out your drag or hold down for a bit, and they usually splash on the surface a lot. They're very fun to fight/play.
