His 'guit-go' influenced many people; not least among them, fellow Texan Stevie Ray Vaughan! Albert's performances were incredible! He always made the audience feel like he actually cared you came. He often walked around the audience while playing, sometimes with a lo-ooong cord & later 'wireless'. He smiled and moved through the swaying crowds - stopping here and there to drop a few tasty licks then move on. Sorely missed.
I first saw Albert when he walked out of a club on Lincoln Ave, in Chicago, in mid-set playing his guitar and getting the whole street in sync....Last saw him on the Washington DC mall in January 1993 as part of the Clinton Inauguration celebration. One of the greatest. A.C. Reed too and the Icebreakers. Take a stroll with Albert in heaven, no doubt. RIP.
Albert and the musicians he travelled with were LIVE! A recording was meant only to get you to go see LIVE Music! And man was this LIVE! My brother's favorite musician...loved. loved, love him!
Albert always had the coolest blues licks. Very unorthodox and unique
Genius.
Leave in Peace master... there's no words to describe what you left us...
Love the way he plays 'late'... "behind the beat"...
On the back-beat
