Her life story is so sad. Miki was diagnosed with uterine cervic cancer, which she kept a secret for a long time from people and carried on with her music career. she battled cancer for 3 years. 2 months before her death, miki wished nobody would listen to her music and said she had regretted her music career as a whole, because she spent her life being too focused on making music and didn't live her life fully enough. miki spent the last 2 months of her life with her family, and later passed away at the age of 44. she told her husband that she wished she could restart her life again and live it more fully. Rest in peace miki, your song is loved and appreciated by many 😭♥️

    Miki's sad/bittersweet story:
She was popular and successful. However in the latter stages of her life, she got diagnosed with an incurable cancer. Knowing this, she regretted and hated her music career. She concluded that she was too focused on her career that she has not spent time with her family that much. I read somewhere that she even burned some of her albums and songs (probably the papers where she wrote them), and wished nobody would listen to her music. On the final days of her life, while on her deathbed, her family could hear her humming to her popular hits (with most-likely this song is included). It seems that even after her hatred to her music, in her final days she managed to accept things and had loved her passion back. She embraced her songs to the very end.
(I read these stuffs somewhere. I don't know which ones are true and aren't. But for me, I just accepted it and appreciated Miki's music. Thank you Miki!)

    • @JohnJohn-yl4ko
      @JohnJohn-yl4ko 2 ปีที่แล้ว +93

      I can relate to that.
I love to sculpt and draw but I hated when my work gets destroyed so easily. It's easy to say "I'll just fix it" until you do it over and over again Repetition is the artist best friend and it's also he's/she's worst enemy. And worst still people have high expectations of you and to hear they're disappointment sometimes I want to die or something. One time I draw a picture of a snowman for my grandmother she loved it so much she told me to draw another one and another for 3 Years for a Hemophilia club we were in. I was going in and out of the hospital for 3 year, I started hating Christmas I regretted drawing it and I almost died because I overworked my self to the point of death all because of a simple gesture of love.
I reconcile with my grandmother after that but it will take a while to not be angry after everything but my life advance is never do anything for anyone unless your getting payed

She was my late fiancé's favourite artist.
It is a shame to see how many people disrespect her in the modern era. She never said she regretted her music career, She loved music and considered it a very honest form of emotional expression! Literally look into anything about her as a person and you instantly realise that her _"friend"_ who *after her passing* said she regretted her entire music career.
Modern times disregard reality for melodrama. It is a shame.

If there is an afterlife, I hope she realizes how much joy she brought to the world. It's a great thing that she made music because even though music took over most of her life and she regretted making it, it created joy, love, and happiness to thousands of people she'll never even meet. There are people with memories of loved ones that are connected with this song, maybe memories of people who are no longer with us, and this is one of the few things that brings back the memories, is listening to her songs. She created a brighter future by singing. That's one of the most selfless things she did without even realizing it, IMHO. Rest in peace

In her case it's "your music lives on after you, like it or not", she had more tgan a few regrets about her career spoiling her personal life(I think this very song was written after her husband left her) and didn't want her music to be renembered, but cmon, as a species we are incapable of ignoring a musical genius!

a good example of this would be motzart requiem lacrimosa, a song for the death of Count Franz von Walsegg's late wife who died at the age of 20, motzart deemed his worse piece because he was never able to complete before his passing, but when he passed, however Franz Xaver Süssmayr found the papers a year after, he finished the song, he wanted to claim it as his own, but since motzart's wife Constanze wanted to sing it, he couldnt claim it to be his. Another part of Requiem lacrimosa's story that not many people know, is that because the messager never gave any ID as to the who the commissioner was for, motzart thought it was for his own funeral.

To you, yes, my love to you
Yes, my love to you, you, to you
I am me, you are you
      I feel like that
I remember seeing that coffee stain on your grey jacket
      It's the same as always
When we're reflected in the show window
      Stay with me
I knocked on your door in the middle of the night
I cried for you not to go home
That season is now right in front of me
      Stay with me
      While saying that phrase
      I held our moments together
I still haven't forgotten and cherished them
Love and romance are different things
      I feel like that
      You said last night
      The second winter has come
When I look back at your heart that has left me
      I always felt you there
      Stay with me
I knocked on your door in the middle of the night
A hole opened in my heart
That season is now right in front of me
      Stay with me
The needle of the record I left, glaring at my loneliness
      The same melody was repeated
      Stay with me
Knock on the door in the middle of the night
      Crying not to go home
That season is now right in front of me
      Stay with me
      While saying your catchphrase
      Embracing our moments together
      Stay with me
Knock on the door in the middle of the night
      Crying not to go home
That season is now right in front of me

It's understandable to feel sad about the loss of an artist like Miki Matsubara, who made such a significant impact on Japanese music and culture. Her music continues to be beloved by fans around the world, and her legacy lives on through her songs and the many artists who have been inspired by her work. While it is always difficult to lose someone we admire and respect, it can be comforting to remember the positive impact that they had on the world and the joy that they brought to people's lives through their art.

I loved this song. when I went to Japan with my friend before she died we listened to this on repeat. It hurts to listen to this knowing she never wanted this to be heard it’s horrible, I pay my respects by coming to this song and listening to this it’s a masterpiece. Me and my friend used to get in kimonos and dance to this. I miss her… Rest In Peace

    おしゃれなサウンドだけど歌い方が少し演歌調(特に2番)なのが逆に良いですね。

I grew up listening to her songs together with other Japanese artists. You can't go wrong with Japanese pop and you do not need 5-6 members to sing along. You only need 1. RIP Onee San, Miki.

If only you could know how much of an impact your music and the citypop genre in general has had on the world, Miki-san. Certainly most of us feel a twinge of guilt listening to your songs because of how it all ended and I'm sure that wherever you are you probably couldn't care less about the words of some nobody like me but your music has not only touched lives, it's saved lives as well. I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for your Twilight Door guiding me through one of the darkest points of my life.
Like I said, wherever you are I'm sure you don't care and I'm sure one fan doesn't make that big a difference, but let me say this. Thank you for your music. You've touched generations with your voice, and I for one can say that your music will always..."Stay With Me." Thank you, Miki. I hope, wherever you are, you've found a measure of happiness and peace. 🖤🖤🖤
