Thank you for showing us the inside of a stock 335i exhaust and how well engineered they are. Aftermarket exhaust marketing likes to get us thinking that these things cause a huge bottleneck with aggressive internal bends. We were able to see how the main resonator pipe gave a straight shot to atmosphere and hear how the cross-pipe resonators do a phenomenal job of cancelling out drone, while actually improving flow by allowing pressure peaks from either side to be vented out both tips. I have seen many ads for "performance upgrade" exhaust with wider piping, but always simple muffler design.
+Mateo Michel the N55 engines don't include resonators. My e90 came stock with an x pipe. I believe the n54 has the dual cats and and a resonator on the e90.

Back in the day, we had big V8's, headers, no cats, no resonators, and true dual exhaust with glasspacks...and no one ever complained about drone. I never even heard the word until about 10 or so years ago. I had to Google it to find out what people were talking about!
You did the wrong part. Your supposed to open up the entire muffler and weld the perforated section, and leave the fiberglass out. How did you miss that most important part.

its already straight piped so what difference did you make ? lol
drew gil I did the same thing to my car some months ago and it sounds a little louder and cleaner
It was too loud straight piped so I did this to make it more bare-able and look stock because California

Remove stock mufflers, Weld in some race bullets = no drone and sounds great

Did you stuff the insulation back in? I’ve read elsewhere it helps with drone and vibration. Wish I knew more, researching now….!

Just depends if you weld it back in or clamp it... I welded it and that required nothing new

But i discover drone when i try to change my golf R exhaust. And now its my most fear. Its horrible

I replaced the perforated pipes with solid pipes and added the fiberglass back in to avoid any drone.
Lose the sunglasses
Stack dimes when is comes to welding, keeps the metal from getting super hot but also makes a solid weld aswell.
What does he mean with "drone"?
At certain speeds and rpm the exhaust will make a low frequency tone that will make you shit your pants. Thinks it’s called the brown note
