    Great video, I wish more homebrewing gear reviews showed what it's like to clean the equipment like yours did. Cheers!

    Great vid mate. Very thorough and gives a good indication of what the unit is like. Cheers

    Great vid, as a proud G40 owner i do agree with the people who say that this is easier to clean than other systems, i found with my old Robobrew grain would get stuck in the malt pipe false bottom and would need a proper wipe to get it clean but with the G40 the holes seem to be a bit smaller so a good rinse with the hose is enough to get it clean.
    Also at 19:00 i noticed the black gunk build up and had the same thing with mine, was the vid after the first brew with the unit and is it there after subsequent brews? i did the same clean, overnight soak with PBW and rinse with warm water.
    Last thing, a tip for those with 15amp circuits, you don't need to buy the official 15A cable from Grainfather, its a standard 15A C19 IEC cable, i picked one up for $14 and it works perfectly, its double + shipping from Grainfather.

    great video - thanks.
    Have you tested the limits of how much hops pellets you can throw directly in (no bag) without the pump clogging?

      @HomeBrewNetwork  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I never forced a blockage, but I did use a huge amount of hops in it without issue!

    Thanks for a great informative video! Just ordered one from The Malt Miller in the UK on the back of your reviews, think it will be a much simpler brew day than my current set up gives me (BIAB in an old tea boiler with a home made PID and a chugger pump for recirculation). Just have to work out how to sneak it past the Boss when it arrives!
    What concentration do you use your Oxi at? I bought a kilo from a bulk place and it had no instructions! I guess a squirt of washing up liquid in with the Oxi for the initial clean to get rid of any manufacturing oil would be the way to go and then a thorough rinse.
    Plan to use the initial clean to also measure deadspace and heat up times.

    I found that my g40 sightglass was off. I engaged the pump to get rid of potensial air bubbles. When I stopped the pump is was pretty much spot on. 🤷‍♂️ might help some of you out there. Then again might not 😊

      Yes you have to make sure the recirc isnt in the water, it actually works much better without the tube in at all when looking at the level. Cheers!

    Great info to know, still no stock in the UK as far as I can see.
    Just as well because I haven't saved enough money yet anyway.
    Cheers mate.👍🍺

    Hi. Do you have problem with bubles in the pump by pumping the wort into the fermentor? Im afraid lot of wort will stay in G40…

    Just sold my g30 and got my new g40. In the end of the video you show how you clean the system after the brew. I wonder how do you wash the malt pipe? Someway inside the system or take it outside to wash?

    • @HomeBrewNetwork
      @HomeBrewNetwork  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I take it outside, dump the grain in the garden and hose it out, give it a wipe, then another hose and it’s done. Cheers!

      @@HomeBrewNetwork thanks.. i did my first brew and even though i had to clean the pipe inside the house i found it easier than g30 due to the different form of the pipe (wider but not so tall). Great system.

    Hi really enjoying your vids on the g40 . I'm looking at taking the plunge on the all grain trip and have decided after watching ur vids on purchasing this model. Ive never owned a grainfather obviously but wondered about the counter flow chiller using the grainfather wortometer. Is it necessary to buy the wortometer and if so what temperature probe would i use in the wortometer. Sorry 4 the daft question but ive seen ppl using old probe n controller from g30. Thx in advance

      No need for the wort meter, but if you have the money you might like it, its very expensive for what it is. Cheers!

      Hi there very informative. I wondered if you've attempted to clean the pump mechanism as the instructions recommend after every 5 - 10 brews? I recently bought a G40 and I think the instructions as regards cleaning the pump are pretty confusing. I wrote to Grainfather who confirmed that there isn't a video of the process, and they sent me written instructions that were almost the same as the confusing ones in the manual!
      Any thoughts please?
      Many thanks
      Ged

    G'day mate, I'm a bit jealous how easy that looks to clean. I was always under the impression PBW needed to be rinsed with the same temp or hotter water? Cheers

    • @HomeBrewNetwork
      @HomeBrewNetwork  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      as long as its rinsed well should be ok, I use very little PBW. Sodium Percarbonate doesnt even need rinsing but yeah PBW has some soap in it. Cheers drasjic!

    My G40 crapped out over a week ago on my 6th brew... GF are assessing my broken unit by osmosis and refuse to replace it under warranty... buyer beware.

    The brewing system is OK for producing single temperature infusion, home brew style, moonshiners beer. To produce ale and lager with the brewing system, a magic wand will be required.
