yea that was a weird fight to be the big and final conflict of the series, considering the amount of comparable lies and deceit Doug does throughout the show.

@@carrieheffernan1685 The show never had continuation though. Thats one thing I guess they poked fun at but I wasn't a fan of. They had like 4 episodes on how they first met or timeline and nothing ever was the same.

What blows my mind is that an apartment like that might have gone for about $500 per month back then. Or at least inexpensive enough for Doug to plausibly be able to afford it on his salary in addition to maintaining a detached house in Queens. By 2023 standards, it blows my mind that this could ever have been considered normal! RIP the housing market :(

Right, I understand he wasn’t actually paying anything. But let’s say Doug could pull off working four hours a night for three nights per week (any more than that and Carrie would surely have gotten suspicious)… that means Doug got an apartment all to himself for working approx. 48 hours per month. BACK THEN that seemed plausible. Fast forward 20ish years later to today, and people often have to work 48 hours or more PER WEEK to afford living with roommates.
Yes, I know it’s “just a TV show” and what I’m saying is “just theory”. But if you released a show in 2023 where a man who works part time at a restaurant gets an apartment for $0.00 in rent in NYC, nobody would take it seriously because that would be mathematically impossible by today’s standards.
I think they mentioned it was like $800 a month when the first time they split it 4 ways, they said it was 200 a piece(maybe I'm wrong)
That place is probably $2k a month now

I cannot blame him for secretly having the place. Carrie obviously does not respect the man when he asked her to take off her shoes at the door. I have secondhand frustration from this.

They’re married and have a home together. The joke is that he doesn’t treat their own home like this. She’s constantly telling him not to put his sneakers or let his friends put their sneakers up on their coffee table. He never uses coasters. He eats in bed. Basically everything he does at this place, she tried to get him to do in their home.
Comedic timing is all on point. Love this show.

My company kept an apartment in NY for colleagues visiting from other cities. It got a lot of use, but rarely from out-of-town visitors. ;)

It’s amazing how much Doug takes more pride in his apartment over his home with Carrie in queens. He tells Deacon to take off his shoes.
He lights candles. Brings Deacon a drink and putting it on a coaster. He gives Deacon a disapproving look because he forgot to use coaster.

Not gonna lie, I built a small home theater room a during the summer about 2 months ago I got everything finished and now. I act exactly like Doug when I enter that room, no shoes, instead of a candle Febreze the carpet & put in air freshener on each corner and sit in my recliner chair real carefully 😂
