I used my knife to remove the last hem from my TH-cam shorts which I used for a bow drill bowstring which created the fire that charred up... that very same hem/bowstring. It cooked up into some great denim char cloth that I got to prove with the flint and steel. Please follow the LINKs below and SUBSCRIBE. Thank You! In the out of doors nothing goes as planned. This ain’t a Hollywood movie. Expecting encounters and learning how to deal with them is critical. Great lesson today. Thank you sir.
David - just a hint for other fans of your channel: some months back I made an excursion to collect some fat wood. I recently decided to cut some of it up. I laid down some paper beneath where I was going to do the cutting so the resin-rich sawdust could be collected. I ended up with a pretty fair amount. I then deposited the sawdust into a small ziploc style bag, folded it up and put it in my survival kit. That gives me a good fire starter that will easily catch a spark from my ferro rod, or because it’s so fine & fluffy, maybe even a good spark from a flint & steel.
Your friction fire skills always amaze me, David. Little bits to learn of in each video. Btw the fire in the snow I told you about is online 🫡 I need to train friction fire more regularly.

A pile of fatwood sawdust will ignite readily but needs to be stirred occasionally to keep it burning hot.
