- Here it is my Metal Cover of T-ARA's most iconic hit back in 2011, "Roly-Poly"
First of all, the first time I listened to this song is when I was watching the Home Shopping channel in TV back in 2011, and I really liked it, also, I've been wanted to do a Metal Cover of this song since the first time I listened to this song and I finally did it! as well as I saw most perfect things related to T-ARA which is one of Hyomin's instagram post (the Hyomin Sour ones) as well as Eunjung's "Music in the Trip" video, both Hyomin and Eunjung dances along to this song, and also, this song's concept is mostly remake of the Bee Gees' "Saturday Night Fever" movie that starred John Travolta, and I really liked the Qri's opening line which is very aegyo-like cute, and also, they did a live performance again in MMTG (back in October 2020) and they did it again in JTBC's "Famous Singers 2" in 2022 as well, and I also loved the Hwayoung's "I like like this, I like like that" rap part too, also, IZ*ONE UNIT even ITZY covered that song too, as well as the M25 rookies CLASS:y did a dance cover of this song as well, fun fact about this: CLASS:y is from M25 which basically MBK's sub-agency (same as the Pocketdol Studio), and they did a dance cover of this T-ARA song as a tribute to the legendary MBK or Core Contents Media's (CCM) legendary chameleon queens T-ARA which is very interesting, also, according to Eunjung, THIS SONG IS ONE OF EUNJUNG'S FAVORITES AS WELL! and during most of this song's live performances, there's so many back dancers too, and this song is definitely one of my favorite T-ARA songs besides "Lovey-Dovey" and "Bo Peep Bo Peep" in my opinion
Aside from that, arrangement wise, I made it into more Heavier Metal influenced as well, and for the intro part, I wrote that guitar riff myself which I really liked it, and for the chord progression, it has the same chord progression as Brown Eyed Girls' (BEG) "How Come" which basically I - VI - III - VII (as well as the pre-chorus part and the chorus part), because of that, I made the different chord progression for verse part (I - VI - III - VII - I - VI - IV - V) as well as pre-chorus part (VI - VII - V - I - VI - IV - V) which much even better (just like what I did on "How Come" and "Why Are You Being Like This?" as well) alongside I put the chord progression from "Roly-Poly in Copacabana" at the second interlude as well as the first half of the guitar solo too as well as "Bunny Style" at the break part, and I also experimented with the different chord progression at the second half of the guitar solo as well as the "Ah ah ah ah tonight~" part (which is VI - IV - I - V - VI - IV - V) which much more perfect, and I also wrote those chugging riffs as well as djenty riffs on the second verse and second pre-chorus part, which I really liked it, and I also put the guitar solo between the second interlude and the Hwayoung's rap part which I really liked it, and of course, Roly poly, roly roly poly~
I do not own or claim ownership of this music!
