    The idea that Italian bike are way more expensive to maintain is false... I had 1 panigale 3 aprilias 1 rsv4 and 2 tuonos. The value job on them was $125 more than my gsxr1000. Oil changes were $5.00 more. The only major issue is the wait time on any part that come from Italy

      @Dansk55 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You're a great example of why facts should always trump feelings. Sure anecdotally, your Italian bikes haven't been too much of a hustle but WHOLISTICALLY and across several motorcycle ownerships, they are less reliable than Japanese and often more expensive to maintain. Its just not debatable. Take a look at Consumer Reports or any forums regarding euro bikes. Problems after problems.

    • @jpolhamus71

      @@Dansk55 you can say what u want i have been riding for 40 years .. yes may be less reliable. But the cost for general maintenance is not that much more expensive than a Japanese bike speaking from my experience.. so my "feelings" has nothing to do will my "experiences "

      Parts prices alone make the difference. Especially as someone who works on their own stuff. Speciality tools and proprietary software. Italian bikes are a headache. They’re also highly unreliable. Despite this guy having tons of money to throw at a bike so he doesn’t notice, it’s born out by any metric whether it’s stats or aggregate of owner opinions

    Motorcycles are made for racing smackdowns on the highway or not going to hurt them unless its high-end speeds for long periods of time. As a buyer you should be more concerned about buying a bike that was wheelied.

    ALWAYS get Pre Purchase inspections. I won’t ever buy a used vehicle even from a dealer without a 3rd party PPI. I’ve been saved tens of thousands of dollars over and over in both cars and bikes thanks to PPI’s. Any owner that has an issue with you getting an inspection before you buy it is someone you don’t want to buy from anyway. I’ve had PPI’s catch bikes that had been tracked and crashed but you couldn’t see it with the new fairings on it, I’ve had a M3 that was supposed to have a expensive part in the engine upgrades that the seller was lying about, I’ve had dealers miss or lie about expensive suspension failure that they didn’t mention.
    And the number of people that get a a PPI only AFTER they buy…it’s wild. Don’t go to just anyone though ask around for who has a great rep.

      💯 Always get used bikes and cars checked before buying, so many people don't. I'll never forget the time I bought a pos used Nissan pick up that turned out to be a rust bucket and the gas tank rusted out and was leaking gas. 🤣 The funny part is I was going to get a pre-inspection and the sales guy convinced me to not get one. Some people have to learn the hard way like I did.

    I have to say I've only bought two used motorcycles and I've had quite a few of them. Both of them were just fine, but I will consider a used one with a very thorough inspection of it by myself. My choice always is brand new that's it! I have to say cyclecruza I wish you would have bought the Yamaha MT-10 that's the one that I'm looking at right now. I look at the 650IB a few times and the bikes they own are perfectly maintained with a qualified mechanic and I imagine with very few miles.
    The parts he mounts are of good quality and if he has the invoices I would buy without asking myself any questions.
    We must not forget that a motorcycle is supposed to be used even at high speed it is planned for.... ✌️

    • @CycleCruza
      @CycleCruza  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      They redline the hell out of their bikes, one engine had to be replaced. Constant redlining is bad for an engine no matter how it is maintained, especially on bikes that are highly modified where the restrictions are removed.

    • @MKultra731
      @MKultra731 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CycleCruzaIf the bike is correctly adjusted even by removing the restrictions, I don't see the problem, it doesn't change strictly on the mechanics but requires more frequent maintenance, that's all.
      On a small displacement you are more often on the redline and I don't see engines breaking permanently.
      A racing motorcycle is made for racing not for cruising and in racing you are often at full speed, this could be obvious to me.
      If you're the type to buy a Ferrari to drive at 60mph, you should definitely buy a new bike and drive 2000 miles a year. 😂

    • @CycleCruza
      @CycleCruza  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      What I do is have the seller take it to the dealer for inspection. If you are buying from the dealer and they won't let you take it to a mechanic you are taking a risk. See if they offer at least a 30 day warranty, if not then you are taking a risk. Sport bikes often get beat on. Avoid a 2008 cbr1000rr, many had oil consumption issues like you mentioned, try to stick with a 2010 or newer. I had no issues with that 2012 cbr1000rr I had, extremely reliable and great bike.

    In 2014 I bought a used 2001 ZX-9R, I was looking for an easy fix project bike. It was listed for $2000, and had been down once. The tank was dented, front brake lever was broke off, the fairing was scarred, blinker was gone and the windshield was cracked, nothing serious. It started up, sounded great, I grabbed my helmet and took it for a short ride, it ran through the gears smooth, so I said why not. I got back to the kid's house and his father was in the driveway. I got off and he asked what I thought, I told him I would buy it he then asked how much money I had on me, I told him a little over $800, he said sold and wrote me a bill of sale and signed the title over. Turns out he bought it used a month earlier, paid almost twice what he was asking for it, but when the kid dumped it, it scared his mother so bad his parents just wanted it gone.

    First ,when buying used bikes. Always test ride .If you r first time buyer try to bring a friend who is experienced . If they wont let him test walk away . Take a good long look at the radiator . A radiator can tell you a lot about a bike. If the bike looks new but radiator looks like its been to hell and back 8 times ,its a Fugazi . Also check all plastics ,gauges ,tank and make sure original & correct year . The bike could look mint ,but it still could be a franken -bike . Obviously check ,oil for color ,viscosity ,metal shavings ,& check brake pads ,rotors ,clutch and end of pipe for carbon, oil sludge. However one of most important things when buying a used bike is to analyze the seller. Better to buy a used from a squid who bought ,got scared and sold. Don't buy in the hood !!!!!!!!!!!!!!Never buy salvage title !!!!! never buy from a stunter who converted bike back to stock looking !!!! Engine was at rev limit for a million hours !The older the owner usually the better .Try to look in Suburbs w/ High income zip codes. Check Vin with DOT, police ,make sure not stolen . Buying a used bike is like a box of chocolates. You never know what your gonna end up with . And dont buy a Gixxer !!!! If they didnt wreck it it got raped every day ,& if squid sold it after a month frame is prolly bent . The K5 and K6's were the best IMO but they're really old now. I cant stand all the idiot proof crap on modern bikes .

    Sport bikes 750cc or smaller. WHY? Because kids destroy these bikes. Mostly with bad mods and wrecks. Also they are usually not well maintained. If you get one, you better be prepared to work on it. Chinese/entry level bikes like Rebel 250s, Lifan, Groms, etc..... are bad choices to buy used.
    If you are short on money, and you are looking for a ride able used bike out of the box, either buy a liter bike, 700cc or larger cruiser bike, (sport) touring bike or an ADV bike IMO. These bikes usually belong to people who have more money and take better care of their stuff.
    My suggestions come from just buying a lot of bikes over the years. When I buy a used bike, no matter what type/brand, I plan on dumping money into it to bring the maintenance up to date. Last time I bought a ZX6R, I had to dump $1500 into it just to make it ride able. This is fine if you want to deal with it. But the kid who had it before me tore it up pretty bad. I rebuilt a CBR954RR. Got the bike for $2000 and dumped another $2000 into it. Bought another one I gave away before I finished it.
    All in all if you are in the game to ride, get a new bike if you can. Especially if you want a Sport(Naked) Bike. Otherwise plan on doing some work on it.

    @CycleCruza Go ahead and start reviewing bikes man. You have the personality for it and you never know, you might review a bike that you thought you'd never like... Or are you afraid you'll end up buying more bikes from doing test rides. 🤣😂

    So you're saying is if you're poor don't buy expensive bikes. Hahahha just do some research on the bike and get a good test ride, maybe even a couple hours with the bike. Any used bike can have problems, shoot even new model bikes can come with their problems, sometimes after warranties run out

    Cyclecruza that Aprilia was awesome and it ran great all the time. That one issue was a joke. Why are you still trolling that awesome bike ?

    Who cares if your bike has X amount of torque or x amount of whatever. If it's not reliable, it's worthless

      That is true. It really sucks being stranded on the side of the road. I've seen far too many Harleys on the side of the road.

    The great Battery Electric Vehicle lie 😂
    People think all they pay for is electricity to recharge and think it’s cheaper than buying fuel. Now everyone is getting stung with battery replacements and at most you get nearly 100k on a Tesla battery before it’s shot to hell. A lot less on Mototcycle batteries. Battery vehicles replaces one fuel (gasoline) with two separate fuel costs (electricity + battery replacements). Once you factor in the costs for battery replacements and the electricity to charge them battery vehicles cost so much more than fuel vehicles to own and drive. Folks are easily getting over 400k miles on their Japanese cars, 4 times $25 grand for Tesla batteries is $100,000 to replace batteries and you still have not paid for all that electricity to charge the batteries. One day the great sleeping masses will wake up to the great battery electric vehicle lie. It’s not the future, it will not save the planet, it exploits poor, puts children’s lives at risk to mine materials and it costs so much more energy to build than fuel vehicles. I don’t know what the future is but I do know battery is a lie. With all the batter costs and electricity costs I calculated a Tesla as getting the equivalent of 4 mpg miles per gallon in money spent on it over its lifetime.
