Ulf still got covered in Silverwings goop. When she went to investigate him her nostrils started flaring to determine who Ulf was. Ulf smelled like a hatchling which made Silverwing want to protect him.
I thought it was way cool and super heroic when Hugh called Vermithor's attention away from that woman who was hiding behind the rock with him. He saved her twice in just a few seconds, first he shoved her out of the way of Vermithor bite, and again as the dragon was about to cook her medium rare and swallow her whole. Vermithor was clearly holding out for an honorable man of valor with 16 pound bowling balls for testicles, a pretty rare combination in this medieval world.
He reminds Vermithor of his previous rider, his grandfather king jaerys, hughs mother is princess sara targayen sister of viserys and daemon that became a prostitute and later a brothel madam, how? Long story.

He didn't destroy an egg. He just broke the incubation sack it's in. They have to keep the eggs warm. You can't destroy a dragon egg by stepping on it. They are like stones until they hatch and it takes magic to hatch them.

Because Ulf got past him, she thinks Vermithor thought he was worthy. 2- Silverwing in the books was apparently very kind and didn't show much aggression and Ulf seems like a harmless guy too. The dragons seem to pair with people they share personalities with. Also Ulf didn't break any eggs. He broke the material around it and exposed a single egg that rolled up against his foot. Im not sure even if he had stood on it that it would have broke. The eggs I think are quite hard like in GOT.
I like how it was confirmed that Hugh is one of the bastard sons of Saera Targaryen, King Jaeherys's least favorite daughter. King Jaeherys is likely rolling in his grave right now. It's bad enough that his descendants are destroying everything he built. To add insult to injury, the bastard son of his least favorite daughter has claimed his dragon. The irony of this scene was delicious.
I don't think she was his least favorite. I think she was his favorite which is why her attitude and actions angered him so much. Towards the end of his life, when he was bedridden and near death, Jaehaerys called for Saera and not any of his other children.
silverwing is really sweet in a weird way, I could tell right away from her non-aggressive manner of inspecting Ulf she was going to take to him as her rider
Hugh the Hammer was ridiculous. Your wife suggests they should go to a relative in another area to get work. He says no. But crazy idea to try and tame a dragon Yes. That is so ridiculous and crazy.
As a dog trainer of very very dominant & aggressive dogs, Hugh showed his dragon he wasn’t afraid & would go to war even if it meant death. Ahh you’re saying the same thing in this video. Just like certain dogs, they need to be paired with a human they respect. Hugh is definitely respectable!
I still don't understand why the princess didn't retreat once the king got burnt to a crisp and fell off his dragon. She could be returned in the future with the other multiple dragon riders to jump Vhagar
I'm looking forward to Tessarion. That said, I'm incredibly impressed with Silverwing. Vermithor romps and stomps, but there's a saying, sonething akin to, "it's the quiet one's you have to watch out for". She may seem playful, but I have a feeling she has a nasty streak.
in the books after being a dragon riders both became arrogant and greedy , Rhaenyra gave them knighthood and some land , both unhappy of that they wanted to be lords and in the battle of Tumbleton after defending the town from the greens they torch the town and sided with the greens and while in service for the Greens they refuse to cooperate further until their demands are met, After Aemond's death his brother Daeron is next in line being Aegon II is still missing or dead , But Hugh wanted to be King and Ulf wanted the Reach , The green commanders plotted to kill both , at the 2nd battle of Tumbleton The black surprises the green lead by Adam Velaryon , Hugh on his way to Vermithor got killed by the Greens and Ulf later was poisoned

I figured that the two characters who previously had speaking roles in the series would be chosen as riders by the dragons. I really didn't want the town bar fly, Ulf, to be chosen, but of course he was..😅

It was said in the books that one of Saera Targaryen's bastard sons was the spitting image of old king Jaehaerys, I'd like to think Vermithor saw that resemblance.
The new riders started flying yesterday. Throwing them directly into battle is pretty rash. I have a hard time believing that we get some dragon battle royale.

Their magical blood and all that. So fate was just helping ol Ulf out a bit to help claim his destiny. It would have made Rhaena's difficulty bonding even more tragic if they weren't already setting up her getting her own dragon in the show (instead of bringing Nettles in).
Vermithor & Silverwing' *chef kiss* perfect and i think the design of Silverwing was partly inspired by art from Emile Denis. they’ve made a lot of references to Tumbleton with Hugh’s family/wife. Something is probably gonna happen there that causes the Betrayers to switch sides

I think they were showing that Ulf destroyed a portion of the clutch, not an egg itself which are stored within the clutch. I think this scene is also supposed to be showing us that there are more eggs unaccounted for because The Reds aren’t in the habit at this point in events of just leaving eggs naturally within their clutches below the castle. They remove the eggs very shortly after they know they’ve been laid or have been discovered. They don’t waste a single second of screen time so I feel strongly that them showing him stepping in the clutch/eggs the way they did in this scene a foreshadowing for something.
This season sucked so bad I was so excited when they said we are gonna show you why they call it house of the dragons, and every episode was just talking and politics and getting ready for the last episode and still just talking like every other episode
He did not destroy dragon eggs. Stepping on and egg would not crack it. These are not chickens. What he stepped on was an egg clutch. Please stop saying this dumb line.

I think the only time iv seen Daemon scared in HOTD so far was when he went to see Vermithor in the 1st season. Rhanera is scared of him at first too.
