- One of my favorite tractor attachments is a set of pallet forks…I use mine all the time. There's a ton of stuff you can do with pallet forks and they're readily available for most loader quick attach brackets. In this video we'll discuss what size to get, what options to look for (there aren't many) and how to maintain them so they work well.

I couldn't agree more. I use my pallet forks far more than the bucket. Almost endless uses for them. I have used them to move round bale feeders, picnic table, ibc totes full of wood, and old equipment out of fence rows. They make loading things into a truck or onto a wagon or trailer effortless. Talk about a force multiplier, pallet forks are a must to save time and your back,
I use my pallet forks all the time, but hitch ballast is a definite must have if you're lifting any kind of weight. Also, you should mention fixed tine vs. floating tine and maybe how to read the capacity stamping on the tines as well. I've learned that if you tip the forks slightly downward, it takes some of the weight off the lower section where it rubs the frame and makes them easier to adjust.
They are one of the handiest implements I own.
I use my pallet forks more than any implement on the farm. very versatile
I have a set of forks and they stay on the tractor about 75% of the time they are the as handy as a shirt pocket I have a 2810 Branson it will pick up the back of a 2500 dodge truck with no problem not sure how much weight that is Thanks for sharing your videos

Good stout pallet some harbor freight wheels and some lag screws makes a nice storage skate for buckets or forks

You forgot to address the tow ball you often get for a pallet fork, where there's a hole in one of the forks to fit the tow ball. Maybe they're not commonly used where you live? They're really handy for moving implements around and "backing" them (by driving the tractor or loader forwards, since the tow ball is in front of you) into tight spaces and things like that. I suppose they're more common for wheel loaders than tractors.
I totally get what you're saying, I've used one of those extensively, its one of the handiest things to have. Having said that, I'm stuck not recommending a hole in the forks because it voids the warranty on them and compromises the integrity of the fork and if there was ever an accident, that could put me in a liability situation. Trying to stay out of trouble keeps me from recommending something that really enhances what you can do with the forks. Thanks for the comment!

I have never used a bale spear for round bales always use the pallet forks not sure about other farmers but I know I will not by bale spear for round bales
I would not use grease to lube the pallet fork rail. It attracts a lot of dirt you will need to clean off constantly. Use dry graphite lube instead - doesn't attract, and trap dirt like grease.

I have a MF gc1710 and I just ordered Titan clamp on forks rated at 1599 lbs. that is far more than I will try to lift, anyway. Clamp on forks are not as good as regular forks, but my baby tractor doesn't have a detachable loader, so I did what I had to. I will upload a video, once I get to use them, to show them in action. These only weigh around 90lbs, or so.
I meant 1500lbs.
Opry, how do you like the clamp-on forks? I'm thinking about buying those. I only need them for occasional mostly light duty use, so I can't see spending the big bucks for a dedicated fork attachment.

What is your take on bucket mounted pallet forks? I've seen ads for some that are rated at 2,000 pounds.
The concern I have with them is they might bend the bottom of your bucket and you definitely don't want to do that. The further out in front of the tractor the load is the more pressure there is on the bucket and the loader itself. There's no doubt that a set of bolt-on, or clamp-on forks might be rated at 2,000 lbs, but the bottom of the bucket has to be able to take that stress as well. If you had a bigger tractor with a real heavy bucket you'd be fine, on a compact I'd be really, really careful. I'm a much bigger fan of the fork and frame design.
My next question for you is about clamp on style brush rake. The ones I have seen online are 4 - 6 tines, about 6" wide on each tine and sticks out about 2' from the front of the bucket. I think these attachments would be ok for the light compact tractor that doesn't have a high weight rating and only used to move brush piles. Wouldn't mind seeing you do a few videos on different attachments that are a little less used by the common tractor owner.
I grew up on an apple orchard and every year we pruned the trees and pushed the brush out with a rake. So I have a little experience with those type of devices. What you're talking about will work, but they tend to let brush come out the sides and underneath as you move. The real ticket is a brush grapple, that has one or two arms that come down with hydraulics to squeeze the brush in so it doesn't go anywhere. It requires auxiliary hydraulics on the back of the tractor with lines run to the front of the loader, then a quick attach there to release everything when you take it off,. I plan to do a video on one of these devices soon. That's probably overkill for most homeowners who are just moving brush piles around occasionally. The device you describe will work, I usually just use my pallet forks and end up having to go back and pick up whatever I strung along the way.
