    You have probably already heard some advice against memorisation. Teachers often recommend avoiding memorisation and embracing understanding instead. Many times, memorisation is essential to learn a new subject or topic.
    Of course comprehension is important, as repeating information just like a parrot, without understanding what you’re saying, is not going to be useful in your life… but there are cases when you can’t escape the good old rote learning.
    This functioning works with three types of memory: sensory memory, short-term memory and long-term memory.
