Directed by Phil Joanou who was making the film Rattle and Hum at the time, this video for Christmas (Baby, Please Come Home) was filmed in November 1987 at the Assembly Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana before the band's concert there that night. Originally released in December 1987 in conjunction with the charity compilation album A Very Special Christmas.

U2 does the best covers.... they don't cover much, but when they do, they do it right.

Same with my mother. She passed away December 3, 2015. I did my best to avoid Christmas music before and after the funeral, and this was the first Christmas song that I heard my first day back at work. Of all the versions of this song, it had to be this one. Considering my song for my mother is Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own, right down to the very last word in that song, it HAD to be this version. It couldn't have been any other way.

Funny story: radio station playing this on Christmas Day. This was just after everyone switched over to CDs. CD players were still wiggly sometimes and "skipped". They'd play this up to a certain point and then skip BACK 45 seconds or so. The radio station did this. All. Day. No one at the radio station bothered to check all day. Good times.

My whole family went and saw U2 at Twickenham in 2005 after my dad was getting over a heart attack. We had 5 lads right behind us and when we saw them we thought the worst. 30 mins in they were hugging each other crying. It was an amazing experience ❤

Not a fan of U2. But when I flipped through the Christmas songs, this clip touched me, not the lyrics, Bono or the band, no, it was the direction of the clip, the empty stadium, there is no one, just them and "Baby, Please Come Home". I thought it was phenomenal.
