    I just found your channel. Im quite a bit older. 56. Im on a minimalist journey. It seems like im constantly doing the Swedish death cleaning. I do not want my children stuck with my junk. Thank you for getting this message out to the younger generation! 🎉

      Katie thank you so much for commenting! Welcome to my channel. Swedish death cleaning is quite a method and I resorted to it prior to moving states. I subbed to your channel as well, thank you for sharing you life with us!

    Something i started this year that's right up your alley is when I went to the shops I would repeate the mantra "I own enough, I have enough, I am enough". It helps me not buy unneeded things.

    I unsubscribed from all YT channels that boasted "haul" videos because they were too enabling. I canceled all my auto-pay accounts and deleted all my retail apps. This is a hard start for me but really needed. Consumerism is evil.

    • @alreadyenough
      @alreadyenough  วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      That’s a great start! Hard agree. The number of people doing a no buy 2025 challenge is growing exponentially, our strength is in numbers against consumerism

    i think it'll be a year where we'll find who we really are outside the things we own, it's not about willpower or discipline i think it's more about exploring and living life outside consuming material things and letting those things consume us

    I've been trying to do an Amazon boycott after experiencing the conditions for peak season for 2 winters in a row. My Mom claimed she was boycotting them too until christmas came, and I saw Amazon branded items. I asked her for reciepts days later and she refused because it inconvenienced her. Although it's Christmas, I felt seriously disappointed in her that she couldn't be honest with me and complained about convenience when it inconveniences the workers having upwards of 150+ stops daily in the cold. I'm planning on donating all of my amazon products she bought me to avoid any more drama without being stuck with items I don't want cluttering my apartment. Trying to get more people to live a more minimalist lifestyle is hard since everyone wants instant gratification.

      Amazon has definitely ruined our perception of how shopping has to be (at the expense of their employees of course as you pointed out). I'm sorry you had a disagreement with your mom, she probably tried to resist but it was hard for her because it's Christmas. We all have our shortcomings when it comes down to consumerism. I hope you can continue on with your boycott journey through 2025 as well. It's definitely a journey that comes easier for some than others.

    I’m personally tryyng to buy with reason and not just mindlessly. Buying with purpose will be an easy start instead of jumping into a strict no buy. Glad everyone is doing whats best for them. Gotta use up what I have especially art supplies

    Something that was a real wake up call for me was i wrote down every item (aside from food, shampoo, consumables etc) that came in and out of my house for 2 entire years. I am a minimalist and don't spend excessively. But i realized i would shop, donate those things, and shop again. This really made me see how consumerist I'd become, and since then I've done so much better about not shopping just for fun.

    • @alreadyenough

      Thank you for sharing a tip of writing it all out. Even while trying to be cognizant, it can be so easy to fall into consumerism trap. It also took me several years to carefully curate the closet and keep getting rid of things again and again. Thanks for watching 🙌🏻

    That’s good that the few exceptions are purchases from small local businesses. Realistically sometimes we do need something or have a gift to give, using that as an opportunity to support a local company instead of a mega corporation is way better on so many levels.

    • @alreadyenough
      @alreadyenough  2 วันที่ผ่านมา +5

      Yes I definitely agree. My local senior center had a sale and I HAD TO buy this cute lady's knitted goods because I know it made her day, and my friends/family got knitted mini-blankets and other cute things in their Christmas baskets. I try to go to local farmers markets for sourdough and other consumables. As much as I restrict myself on big box stores, always happy to spend on local businesses.

    this year was the first time i actually stopped buying more than necessary and just buying what i needed. Mainly cause i lost my housing and don't need extra junk laying around in my car and storage unit. for the first time i waited until i ran out of toothpaste before i bought more 😂 im saving and once i get a place im going to continue this mindset 🙏🏾

    I am super broke so I'm not only not buying any clothing, makeup, or anything frivilous like that, but I've found myself actually couponing for groceries for the first time in my life. 😂 I just moved and am incredibly broke right now - like living off the money I made from my shift yesterday levels of broke - and my goal is to pay off a ticket I owe money still from last year (oops) this month, pay off my credit card next month (I only have one and it's only like $500 but it is admittedly maxed out), and then once my head is above water all of my extra money is for savings. I'm saving to hike the AT and at the rate I'm earning even if I buy nothing but essentials it's probably gonna take me a couple years to save up for. Last year was rough. I was out of work for a bit because I had broken my foot, and I ate through what little savings I had squirreled away while I was healing. Wish me luck getting out of the hole I'm in lol. It's gonna be a rice and beans sorta year, that's for sure.

    • @alreadyenough
      @alreadyenough  13 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      Thank you for sharing. I'm sorry to hear that. I hope that this year you will be able to get to a comfortable place. With digging yourself out, it takes time and it's also about either decreasing your spending (which you already do) or increasing your income.
      I was in a similar position when I was in college in 2017 making $8.65/hr and having to pay housing, tuition, everything else being on my own while working two jobs. Back then my grocery budget was no more than $30/month, otherwise I can't afford housing. I am contemplating about making video of those times, but it was really traumatizing so I'm thinking how I can put those emotions into words.
      I wish the best of luck to you, I can recommend there's other channels on YT that make very informative videos on how to cook meals on $10-15/week.
      Kind regards,

    • @zenleeparadise
      @zenleeparadise 12 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@alreadyenough $10-$15 a week? USD? I'd love to see those videos tbh that's crazy in this economy. Thanks for your kind words. It's been rough! I'm making almost $5 less an hour than I was last year. I had to get out of where I was living because I just couldn't stand it anymore (the heat in Phoenix was brutal in 2024, I couldn't stand the idea of being there any longer, I'm a PNW girlie), so to move I took a job with a big corporation outside of my field that paid a lot less just so I could use it to transfer to a better state and have an assured income, but I'm hoping to get back into my field and get back to earning as much as I had been before the whole foot fiasco happened. Fingers crossed, I'll probably be spending all of my time off job searching once my few debts are paid off. I'm just grateful I'm not in as much debt as a lot of the people I've heard testimony from. Knowing there's been people who were in tens of thousands of dollars of credit card debt who managed to make it out gives me a lot of hope.

      @@zenleeparadise thank you for sharing a bit of your story. Pheonix heat is no joke! You go outside and just hate everybody and everything for no reason (I lived in Vegas for 5 years, but AZ sun is way more brutal). This lady's channel is VERY HELPFUL !!! Julia Pacheco th-cam.com/video/h0KLCHkTooY/w-d-xo.html she posts regularly how to survive on the low budget (wish I saw this type of content when I was a broke college student). Additionally I recommend you can join subreddit called "debtfree" you can anonymously write out your situation (current bills, debt, income) and people are very kind there, they can recommend and advice on climbing out of debt. On Facebook there's a group "female finances" or something like that where women all help each other you'd be shocked to see by reading other people's threads and posts how many people are struggling nowadays

    Yes, planned obsolescence is aggravating. Doing a very low buy year. Clothing is a big one for me to avoid. Emergency funds and vacation funds is big for me to work on saving this year. Also, I bought a planner and accordion file to track and help me with this.

    • @alreadyenough
      @alreadyenough  วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      That's a great start! I hope you'll keep going while avoiding temptations. There's so many important things to put money aside for rather than what consumerist culture is trying to sell us

  • @zicoelsamo6921

    For the past year and a half I was going crazy with buying stuff I didn’t really need. Got into reading books, started to watch a lot of YT videos with book reviews and then started to pay attention to the collections of books behind youtubers backs. All these haul videos did something to me and I started buying physical books. So in a year and a half a bought ALOT of books using my credit card (I was buying a lot of other stuff, including paying for subscription that I was not really using), at first I was doing pretty good paying off the debt every month, but then it started to be too overwhelming to the point where I stopped paying debt but I didn’t stop spending money. So now I have a debt that is equal to at least 4 full months paychecks that I realistically cannot pay off even in half a year and a bunch of trash and books that I don’t want to own, use or read. So yeah, this is definitely eye opening for me. I was like this most of my life,but I was only spending my own money before, never getting myself into debt. By the end of 2024 I realised that if I don’t stop I’ll ruin my life with this overconsumption. So the goal for 2025 is definitely not wasting money anymore. I know it’s been only 4 days of the year so far but I’m doing much better, I only paid bills and didn’t spend a coin on anything else, even food (bcs I have enough of everything for now) oh and also managed to stop myself from wasting money on mobile game few times in these 4 days 😂 thank you for this video, it definitely helps because its validates my decision to stay away from spending money

    Great video along with hundreds of others I have seen on the subject of #nobuy2025. Happy to see this movement like you said is gaining momentum and I hope more people will join. I am doing my part by not buying any clothes, kitchen stuffs, jeans, lip glosses, makeup in general, ANYTHING from Temu or Shein, it was hard but I deleted Amazon because home gadgets became too much. I'm overwhelmed sitting amongst so much I spent money on. This junk used to be money in my bank that I converted for all this. I am easily influenced but I hope I will do better this year. Cheers
