Fun fact: my grandparents lived in Okinawa at the end of WW2 (serving in the U. S. Navy). When they returned to live in California, they had all of their Japanese furnishings shipped to their new home. When I was very young and would visit them, I was hypnotized by the furniture, dishware, dolls, tapestries, and countless other things they displayed. Since that time, I have only grown to love Japan - her people and culture- even more. I'm not certain if one can actually be homesick for a place they've never been to, but that's how I feel.
