    Overall a good concise video EXCEPT... NEVER, EVER LET YOUR COMMAND POST POP UP UNIMPEDED LIKE YOU SHOW! This is how you break the “teeth” off of the collet- no surprise your collet has a few missing! I learned this the hard way and replacement collets are not easy to come by where I live. Always have your butt or your hand slow the rise before it hits the collet (stop point).

      Yeah the poor expanding collet doesn't dig it, nether does your nut sack.

    This is exactly what I needed for my Specialized FSR stump jumper 2018. Thank you 😊👍🏽

    Well done.
    It was very fast & easy to service, this post.
    My RF Turbine's need full service, the brake no longer work, one the foam ring split in 2.

    • @StravaigingMTB
      @StravaigingMTB  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The seal on this guy is just a rubber dust seal with no foam ring, the lack of rebound dampening ont he return means it kicks like a mule if your weight isn't on the seat when you try and raise it back up though!

    There is an amazing discussion regarding this seat post. “Seatpost whisperer reverb”

    Also, tea. Lol. Well done, mate.

    • @StravaigingMTB
      @StravaigingMTB  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can't fix bikes without tea, or beer, Tea generally gives better end results.

    • @jeremyporterfield1611
      @jeremyporterfield1611 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is true for more than just bikes. Plus, my garage is cold in the winter, and warm tea is easier to drink than cold beer when your hands are freezing lol.

    Thank you so much for an informative and concise demo! I did all this and the lever is still difficult to depress; do you recommend greasing the cable or just swapping it out? Thank you so much as the seat (once actuated) works just grand!

      Hi, this is a little late but a channel locks with some Emory cloth wrapped around the collar to protect it worked for me.

    • @gofishyfishy
      @gofishyfishy 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      i used a thick older bike tire with channel locks.

    You didn't mention that part of the collet is broken and missing.

    • @StravaigingMTB
      @StravaigingMTB  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good spot! Yes part of the collet on mine was broken, it appears to be a common failure on the older command posts and doesnt stop them working. I blame the insane return speed!

    What brand of strap wrench are you using?

    • @StravaigingMTB

      A cheap home brand one from B&Q. Was cheap and works a treat

      +Johannes Nilsen it is a two part tapered circular clamp. You could coat it in some carbon grip paste for qrip

      Finding a seal kit could be bit if a nightmare, I've also noticed corrosion at the bottom if mine in the past so if it's leaking from the valve end that could be terminal 🙁.

      I've never found repair kits, a bike shop that sells Specialized will be able to tell you if they are available.

      @@StravaigingMTB I took our chain whip (which is a long handled tool) and threaded a short piece of bike tube through the hole at the end of the handle...wrapped it around the collar lock ring and then put the other end of the tube back through the hole on the end of the chain whip--pulled the tube as snuggly as I could around the collar lock ring and held both ends firmly against the handle of the chain whip...then twisted and poof!
