Check it out - I'm 59 and rediscovering drums after playing electronics for years and checking out so many videos realizing I have the chops to do this and am shedding every day much to my neighbor's "delight". HOURS every day! I'm really into the gospel drumming style. Inspiring. Love the drumless tracks.
Does anybody knows how to get the gig for jb? I mean, how it works and where are the auditions set, it’s something that captured my curiosity since a long time
It’s all usually word of mouth, only a handful of drummer get to audition. Obviously it’s the MD watching these videos so he can tell who can and cannot meet their requirements/request. Other than that there is no formal “application process” . This goes for all major artists
I suggest that maybe focus on the lesson of gospel chops so all the drummers maybe could learn what they want cause almost of the drummers these days want to play fast
youtube "gospel chops", see where the recommendations lead you, get familiar with people's names, look them up, explore related videos and players, watch, learn, practice, practice, practice, then put your own custom spin on it. it's also good to learn other styles of music too, but that's your choice, and may you have a fulfilling, joyful and successful journey in music.
Denneil Chambers you get this good by the amount of hours you put in. put 2 hours in a night, 7 days a week for a year straight. that's over 700 hours in one year. think about how much more that is then you probably already play ya feel me? I've been playing for just under 14 years and even with a lid a full time job and a wife I gives elf 2 hours a night every single God damn night. I'm telling you. put the hours in. and learn your basic rudiments. your mind will fucking explode
Denneil Chambers no prob Bob! I know it's more of a "thanks captain obvious " type of answer but it is the best one you'll ever recieve. in one year you could be easily 3 times as good as you are now simply by making that extra hour for practicing things you would never try to play otherwise. odd time signatures and the like will open your eyes up to a whole new way and style of playing
No wonder he got the gig. He is freaking good! Highway to greatness!
