Ugghhhh....... Seeing the white room with different colored spots I got an amazing idea. It would be really cool if you'd just start off with a plain white room and then give every person who goes there a sticker or a bit of paint so that they can put it wherever they want to. . . . And then I got to the part where they explain the idea of the room.... fml
I see this as the blank canvas of life. Everyone is invited to leave their mark show thier talent and individuality, their unique creativity. The problem is that the world is filled with so many people, so many colors, so many little stickers. And here the artist is saying "you have one chance, how will you stand out?"
"Unjust war"?.... If American Leftists would not have betrayed Democratic S. Vietnam and would not withdraw funding and eventually American troops Vietnam now would be as successful as South Korea..... (love my Samsung Galaxy thank you very much:) Yeah. ..."Leftists are the enemies within"....regardless if they are American Leftists, Vietnamese Leftists or Eskimo Leftists for that matter.... Leftist Collectivists with their love for government bureaucrats and Identity Politics are unconventional evil.....
for the rooms she should have had 2 way mirrors between the observation room and the item room so that the peoples reflections weren't shown in the effect giving it a more infinite room feel
Almost saw her in New york a a while ago....had to stand on a line 2 to 3 hours....couldn't do it. I understand ,because they would only let in a small amount of people,so you could ENJOY THE ART. THAT DAY WE FOUND THE HIGHLINE JUST OPENED,THAT WE KNEW NOTHING ABOUT. SO THERE IS ALWAYS SOMETHING TO EXPLORE IN NEW YORK.. HOPE TO SEE THE GARDENS.🕊🇺🇲💕
Nah! When you're trippin' the things that actually trip you out the most seem to be ordinary or mundane. We see things like these exhibits and think to ourselves, "This would be awesome to look at while trippin". But if you actually did look at it after takin' shrooms or some other mind-altering substance with visual hallucinogenic properties, it would seem normal. Everyone else would be amazed at the art. But you would be standing in the corner staring at a chip in the paint with a scuff mark from someone's shoe intensely fixated on the floor molding. LMFAO
I am the Frame of my Mirror. Glass is my Body and Silver is my Blood. I have created over a Thousand Mirrors. Unknown to Darkness, Nor known to the Blind. Have withstood People to create many Self-Esteem Issues. Yet those Eyes will never see beyond Selfies. So, as I Pray-- Unlimited Mirror Works!
wow I love art and this is my kind of art and yet I had never heard of this lady until half an hour ago...oh my...what an amazing lady. I would love to see a film about her life as another commentator has suggested.
People got weird talent, maybe it wasn’t a talent may be she is just trying to say something, express something because no one listen to her voice! So she used this powerful thing you call it art to show it
I love how she uses the lights and mirrors in her work. The Obliteration room looks like someone has vomited spots all over it. I find the dotted tentacles creepy and yet floaty.
Yes - the reflection part might be hard with you as a person, but just the dots - yes The other could be done too - just the VR system would have to know what you look like in 3d as well.
One day entire cities will be similar to her vision, using AI deep fake software and architecture modeling and the right AR smart glasses just imagine what you could come up with if we all had the ability to sticker our world in polka dots - take the glasses off and the world remains unchanged. To walk down a street enter an alley and suddenly an artist has recreated chapels and greek columns and infinite loops of galactic spirals. Take your glasses off and you're about to walk into a puddle of trash and an overflowing dumpster. Glasses back on and that plane overhead resembles an eagle or flying squirrel, look to the train station and a giant rollie pollie is screeching through a subway tunnel.
I went to see the rooms and stuff with my art club and it was kinda scary for the first room because it felt like there was water on the mirror if you fell and I was scared I would drop my phone ... I did and picked it up and you can’t do that but I was scared
Great entertainment and technically impressive. Yet SFX rule art, maybe always will. Few peeps want to peep ' neath the surface of things - or " the retinal" as Duchamp put it.
ALLWAYS wanted to go there ... never had a man to show me around! only kids ... :*:* and I didn't want to go there alone ... I don't know why ... and it's ok I love surprises :*:*:*
It’s kind of sad seeing all of these comments now and her regaining popularity again when she just got exposed for being racist to black people, sure maybe you can seperate the art from the person but it is just now shocking to see.
Errr... I was about to upvote her work by saying this is what modern art should look like but when it got to the part where people put the polka dots on the wall, to me that's a turn off - it's a product of random chance like a scatter plot and not the product of the artist. Those other art pieces look wonderful.
I had sort of the opposite reaction myself. I think there's something very interesting about the way that the dots still cluster into aesthetically pleasing groups, even though they're all placed by random people. I doubt that most of the people who go to the exhibit place them in an entirely mindless way (for instance, the dots on the hanging lights in the back are placed in a roughly symmetrical fashion). So you get patterns emerging from nothing more than the aesthetic proclivities of those seeing the exhibit.
It's amazing. She's created an experience that the viewer can directly interact with. It still has a meaning and a creative process, and she's engaging you personally. It's art, maybe more like performance art, but it's art.
Lol bye. The randomness and input from the viewers transcends that stupid boundary in the art world we call "the artist and the beholder are two separate people." I appreciate how it breaks that.
And what is art but an interaction between the artist and the spectator? And isn't all interpretation of art, individual and random? Why do the dots have to be placed strategically in order to be considered "true" art? Where did you get the idea that art is supposed to be so rigid? I don't think you quite understand how art works. It's meant to behave or look how the artist wants it to appear and be represented how the interpreter chooses to view it. It's a dialogue, and yet you want to impose your language on it. How limiting.
@@YourMajesty143 nothing is really random it's all about strategy it's your own unique view and execution toward people's perspective. Your own subjectivity it's what makes it 'interesting'.
🤣 😂 🤣 😂 🤣.... That's not how you create an infinity mirror.... It's just a mirror walled room with a bunch of crap in it. People are so easily impressed.
She really inspires me, her work is amazing!
What did they see in there is exactly describing what Yayoi Kusama sees in her mind. It's beautiful !
"What would you compare it to?"
"The planet I'm from"
*Legit*
it's like those rooms are in different dimensions
like you feel something just by looking at it
so inspiring
She is a genius it is bitter sweet how her sadness makes so many happy
Someone should take LSD and go through there.

No need at all! Just enjoy while in command of all your senses, naturally. I did and it was pure happiness.

As it turns out later in the video: that's exactly what it was.
I went to some art exhibit where they did this. I don't know the artist. But - yes fun idea.
I had the pleasure of seeing this exhibit at the Cleveland Museum of Art yesterday. Stunning.
I am so happy her exhibit will visit The Cleveland Museum of Art 😊. Way to go, Cleveland‼️
Her art is amazing😍 its aesthetically pleasing! Never before seen
"is she happy?"

Art is art no matter how unusual it is! Beautiful!
I love Yayoi Kusamas work. I wrote a paper on her while earning my B.F.A.
I went to this and it was just phenomenal, this video honestly doesn't do it justice.
Some of the most beautiful expressions of art come from the most tortured of minds.
I’m obsessed! 🤯 Soooo beautiful, I never want it to end! 👌🏽🙌🏽

for the rooms she should have had 2 way mirrors between the observation room and the item room so that the peoples reflections weren't shown in the effect giving it a more infinite room feel
This is awsome I would love to attend this😍💖

Wait 15-30 minutes
Go to exhibit
Trip out
Or you might be in the corner crying
Better than getting a concussion and not getting help
ROGUE X94 😂😂😂😂

Seems fair

the exhibit travels too fast. It wasn't in Atlanta long at all, tix went immediately. Like, why the rush? Give folks a chance to see it.
Afroblu Atlanta it’s in Atlanta until February 17. Only a limited amount of tickets available each day
i have a question, what message does she want to bring over to people? and what do you like about her work and why?
JESUS LOVES YOU
Koi No Yokan
Yesssss finally someone that knows Deftones here >:333
Could some one make a similar experience in VR?
Yes - the reflection part might be hard with you as a person, but just the dots - yes
The other could be done too - just the VR system would have to know what you look like in 3d as well.
I’m surprised no one is saying

What kind of planet?
Uranus?

Love the works tho.
What would you compare it to? 'The planet I'm from". Great answer. I like that chick.

My art teacher sent me here...i swear
Love seeing the little kids all in wonderment. Hope she doesn't contract out her work, done by staff.

Michael Joseph Jackson Same here. It's not bad for me unless it looks like gross holes
ReachingSelf same but it is not so gross
Omg we wrote almost the same sentence.
It is slightly freaky.. seeing the holes. But it's not that bad.. they have a pattern, instead of being gross, irregular holes
She doesn’t look a year over 55!!
