- Former Tory MP Craig Mackinlay says the Government "has taken the easy option" by using migrants to fill jobs in the UK.
The UK’s asylum backlog dropped by almost a third in a year, but started to creep up again in the spring.
Home Office figures show a total of 118,882 people were waiting for an initial decision on an asylum application in the UK at the end of June 2024, down by 32% from 175,457 at the end of June 2023, which was the highest figure since current records began in 2010.
Craig says: "It's now not looking so easy because you've got a problem of housing, infrastructure and community cohesion."

What jobs? I keep hearing youngsters saying there are no jobs!
That's because the media and politicians don't understand or don't want to admit, a lot of job adverts are either fake or used to stop staff seeking a payrise. Notice how in hospitality, they moan about the lack of staff but seem perfectly fine. I used to work for a construction company who would have constant bricklaying job adverts, but had no intentions of giving anyone a job. It was purely to stop the bricklayers they already had, seeking more money. It happens in every industry.

Don't forget is you are a muslim, you can claim benefits for up to 4 people, but just one actually legal wife. They were bringing in underage brides due to a loophole in the law at one stage, not sure if that loop hole was ever closed.
That number on benefits will rise, as more migrants flood the country.
The 9.4 million figure has also been called out as misleading BS. It includes people who are employed.
It's like groundhog day year after year.

Because of 0 hour contracts with no job stability and companies refusing to pay a living wage and the general wokeness of working environments now.
The agricultural jobs were never advertised, they all go through agencies and people have to be prepared to live in a caravan often in the middle of nowhere to do them. Of course people will come from other countries to take advantage of a stronger pound, but they're transient workers sending their income home.
Do you people really think if British youth could hop on a bus and go somewhere to earn 5 or 6 times more than they can here, they would not go?
My mates landlord is selling up and he is struggling to find a house. He went too one open house visit and it was full of Africans looking round. One was sat on the stair case rails and broken the rails. Not even living there and wreaked the place.
Most people who come here legally have a date on their visa when they should have left; the system is deliberately set so that this cannot be checked & enforced.

Exactly, this is all to keep lowering peoples earnings. Portugal is a very good example of that ´´low payment´´ policy, used there for more than 40 years ..... and look where they are...!!!
It's not the easy option.. It's the worst option for British people.. It's a short term saving for employers.. When the cost of renting houses goes up then wages have to follow.. Employers wind up paying higher wages..

Council up here. Nothing but folks in their begging for a hotel or house. Bags and cases in tow. Meanwhile folks who have the same problem are given a telephone appointment because there is no room for them in the Council building. It's a mess.

You cant even get up to 20 MPH in London. Rush hour heading east bound you crawl forward about 10 foot every two to three minutes., To many traffic lights, to many abandoned road works and temporary traffic lights and all badly sequenced causing congestion and pollution. A certain demographic have no intention of working, here’s an example. The ‘airport’ thugs had collected their mother from a holiday to her ‘homeland’. She was there for two years and claimed the whole time, she needs investigated, but we wouldn’t want to be classed as racist!

That what has just been said does not seem right to me in fact I am shocked that they would give illegals jobs in the UK or maybe that has been the plan all along, the jobs should be offered to the UK people before anyone else or the people that have the right to stay here in this country, here in this country people would work if the money was right for them selves and their families to live on, looks like the people that are giving jobs out just would like to give low wages out so they can have a higher profits the illegals would not be saying any thing about the wages they just want more money than they got in the places that they came from, but soon they will find their selves in the position of the rest of the people that live here, that they can only live on low wages for a short while and they are going to want more money to live on because the cost of living is high in the UK. The next thing that I suppose they will do to the UK people that don't work is to give them less money and force them to work for low wages even if they are struggling.
If we need to build more houses we could start to train lots of builders operatives. We needto look at Modular so the weather can be eliminated. and houses up in weeks and better equipped and insulated. So workers are better looked after. Nurses learning on the job along with carers. Care could be upgraded. With better standards and control with fewer better paid carers. Just needs a govmt with vision,practicality and business sense. Reform have that ability let’s get them running the country.
