The studio album cut of this song doesn't include the G4 (G5?) note at the very end. It ended with a different octave. This is THE recording to have. Bobby passed away in 2003 but this song lives on. It will forever withstand the test of time! Why? Because "Class Never Goes Out Of Style".
And he was perfect while being sick and running a fever! He was nervous, because his mom was in the front row and had never heard him sing live before.

While I am sympathetic to your basic point, I need to push back on a sweeping generalization of gangsta rap. For many of us, there are many songs of that genre that resonate emotionally because it’s speaking truth to power& expresses the anger & frustration of being forced to live under ghetto conditions &/or mistreatment by police & general marginalization by society at large. Having said that, I do agree the Righteous Brothers make beautiful music. Yes, there are those of us who love both art forms.

There appears to be an apathy & even your response implies it’s “their”fault, without accepting responsibility for the society today of which you are a part. Many people are forced in the sense that they don’t see a way out, & Thomas Sowell has spoken about how Harlem is very different now than when he grew up, implying opportunities for others to replicate his journey, or say the upward mobility of a talent like Ben Carson, is a vanishing possibility becoming more remote. My favorite love song ever done to perfection. If Bobby Hayfields rendition doesn’t stir your heart you have no heart. I was in high school when this came out and it never fails to bring tears to my eyes.
No autotune, no electronic tricks, just an orchestra and a gigantic talent. Bobby was labelled "The man who stole a million women with his voice". He had me at "Oh......", and I was 15 years old, lol!
No auto tune back then that is just pure gold and if you notice he bites his bottom lip and smiles because he knows he nailed it. And his parents were there and he was nervous because he wanted to impress them and make them proud. He never had to worry about because that was perfect.
1965, 18 yrs old, graduatinv high school, and slow dancing with your girlfriend to the Rightous Brothers Unchained Melody! We were blessed with beautiful and amazing talent back then and never realized just how great they really were!
I was so blessed to have seen the Righteous Bro. When they went on tour with their first big hit, Little Latin Lupe Lu, and seen them in Las Vegas before Bobby pass away! My wife and I had gone to 5 of their performances during their Career together! What a blessing!!!!
I bet Bobby's singing coach said to him (when he did the final version of the song) 'If you sing like that, in front of an audience - I guarantee you, people will be raving about this, for years', and he was right. Here we are 57 years later, and it is still, by far, the best love ballad ever sung. A lot of the reactions we're seeing on youtube, are of people watching it for the first time, and giving us their opinions about it - but if you want a real professional, who gives a detailed analysis of Bobby's singing, then go to @ called 'British guitarist analyses the Righteous Brothers live in 1965'. He will even give you the notes Bobby sang (all 20 of them), when he performed this stunning rendition - no auto-tune required!
The difference between this dude and most other performers is, this guy is actually expressing the song and lyrics, not merely reciting the text. It's like he's serenading his audience. Absolutely brilliant performance. btw, i came here only because of the channels name. your name i guess :)
Hi Lizzie, This song has been covered by many artists even to this day (2021), but in my humble opinion, no one performs or sings it like this guy: Bobby Hatfield of The Righteous Brothers, he absolutely owns this song and will forever own it!!! Oh by the way, that "thump" you just heard, was not your mic, it was me "dropping my mic!!!"
Bobby Hatfield sang this song on the Andy Williams show live back in 1965, I was three years old when this was on the show, also Bobby's mother was in the audience when he performed that song and he said he really was nervous. This live version was even better than the studio version that's why this video is so popular. RIP in Bobby, you are truly missed.
He was singing this live on the Andy Williams Show in 1965...The strings & instrumentals you kept mentioning that you liked, is because he was being accompanied by a full orchestra!!! Please react to these other songs by The Righteous Brothers: "You've Lost That Loving Feeling," "Soul And Inspiration," "I Just Want To Make Love To You," "Ebb Tide," "Summertime," "What I'd Say," "You'll Never Walk Alone" and "Rock And Roll Heaven." You will be glad you did!!!
The fact that film composer Alex North co-wrote this song makes a huge difference, too. The lush sound of the song is all him. Hatfield's vocals, of course, were the final touch that made this a classic.
@@donrudd1358 whether I have it or not is irrelevant. The point is: you couldn't pick an autotuned vocal out from a group of 5 and I'm betting you couldn't consistently pick it out even in an A/B test with the same vocal. His vocal is amazing, no doubt, but it doesnt require knocking today's singers for something you couldn't put your ear on if you tried and especially considering his vocal also "set the bar beyond reach" for even the best singers of his own day (long before autotune) Legends don't need anyone to bring something else down to lift them up, they transcend on their own merits. Like how a beautiful woman doesn't want/need to hear you call another woman ugly to get your point across. Try liking something for once without telling us how bad/ugly something else is in your opinion.
Agreed - You've Lost That Loving Feeling was the most played song on American radio and television in the 20th century, featured in the movie Top Gun and TV show Cheers, and best of all it features both "brothers" Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield (the soloist here). If you are going to listen to the Righteous Brothers, you really should listen to the harmonies of both "brothers' rather than just one.
elvis did a version of the song, the live version was heart wrenching knowing his past lost and that he will be dead soon. but this is the best version of all by far.
This song has melted the hearts of generations of women...it took him 20 sec. to get you! It's a VERY popular song at weddings, and is responsible for lots and lots of babies. :-)
He sinply slayed that track. I'm a 40 year old man, and if Bobby suddenly somehow came back to life, and stood at my door singing that song to Me, there ain't a thing in this world, he couldn't make Me do haha 😂 he'd sing the song and then be like "and would you please go rob a bank for Me", and I'd already be on my way, crowbar in hand😎😊
"Okay with the effortless slayage!" Greatest reaction line I have heard on youtube. So honest and open. Love your reactions. "Come on high note!" I have watched this reaction video probably ten times now. It never gets old. Keep doing YOU girl. I LOVE IT.
What was truly remarkable about this particular video was how you were distracted at the beginning by your mic and then genuinely startled back to attention by the softness of his voice.
I was! I danced to this song at my high school grad. But I remember it so well... and you're absolutely correct... when this song was released it absolutely took the world by storm. We had never really heard anything like it before. When Bobby sang this song it almost sounded like an angel... it was that perfect.
song came on?... heck I had the REB greatest hits on my 8 track in my Mustang. I didnt wait for the radio to play it. If you couldn't get to first base with the RB on the box, you were truly pathetic.
I know you will also really enjoy both brothers (not really brothers, a black marine went to their show with some buddies and after they sang he said "thats righteous brothers" and they adopted the name) singing in these videos "You've lost that loving feeling" and "(You're my) Soul and Inspiration"
@@lizziethegangsterhippie9291 Oh forgot to mention the best version of "..Loving feeling.." is the black and white version with 11M views and 3:47 in length. Here is version of "Soul and Inspiration" its a bit blurry at the beginning but has good sound. th-cam.com/video/wsnj6FmuUp8/w-d-xo.html These versions are of them in their prime and with no audience noise distracting from their songs.
I heard you mention you would like to make this song your first dance at your wedding. Another possibility is a song called "Paradise" by Styx from the album Return to Paradise. It's a beautiful song!
I sang this to my wife at our wedding in 1983. She, however she said I murdered it. I'm guessing it's not a song for a baritone, she told me I was of better sticking to my drumming. I thought it was an appropriate song as I was in the Royal Marine Commandos, I had returned from the war for the Falkland Islands when I proposed, and now was shipping out to Sierra Leone two days later, so much for my attempt at being romantic. On the upside she liked me in my Dress Uniform, and having my comrades forming the sword tunnel helped. I must have done something write because we're still together. With 4 children and 7 grandchildren, we got busy on baby's when I was home. I served my Queen and Country for 34 years as a Royal Marine Commandos and Specialist Forces, and then 2 years in hospital, and she stuck by me even though I'm wheelchair bound now. We do actually have a song by Queen called "Your Me Best Friend", a very apt song as she has been my best friend since we were both 16.
Thank you so very much young lady for playing one of the most beautiful romantic love songs ever made. If you get the chance, please play "Too Much Heaven" by the Bee Gees. Not only to me their voices were super extraordinary but the words of this other beautiful romantic love song is worth hearing, again, again and again. Thank you very, very much. Good Evening.
Bobby Hatfield was so damn good looking as well as being a superb singer, many of us ladies would fantasize about him in carnal ways. He brought out the BEAST in us, what a ULTIMATE HUNK.
@@sharncoppy9527 No offense intended. His performance was incredible. But I was taken aback by the "ULTIMATE HUNK" comment. It just was curious to me to discover he had THAT kind of effect on some of you. But, hey, go ahead and fantasize about whomever triggers your "BEAST."
True-no autotune, but to be fair, you only know that because of when it was recorded - in other words, I'd bet my life you couldn't tell the difference between an autotuned vocal and a straight take
I loved being a teen in the 50’s and early 60’s. All the great music without Auto tune! So many terrific artists including The Righteous Brothers! Love me Patsy Cline and Sam Cooke too! Ty
I was a young teenager when that song came out. Not even old enough to date yet. But that song was sooo beautiful. How can you not feel what Bobby was feeling when he sang that song. The look on his face...who was he singing that to? Oh so lucky lucky one. I am so happy to see young people getting to hear his magic. It was magic and still is. Thank you Bobby, we miss you " so much." Rest in Peace.
You can't imagine how much joy and tenderness this joy has brought me at many dance parties in the sixties and seventies. Usually it was played at or near the end of each party to top off a great time of slow dancing with your sweetheart. Even at my ripe old age of 74, this song still stirs the embers within this old body and takes me back to those days of "young love". Never do I get tire of hearing it and never will. Thank you, thank you and thank you, Bobby Hatfield
That was Bobby Hatfield, that song was used in the movie Ghost. Check out You've Lost that Lovin Feeling. It has also Bill Medley the other half of the duo. And they used it in the movie, Top Gun.
The strings and the voice of the late great Bobby Hatfield made this version of 'Alex North's & Hy Zarets' "Unchained Melody" the greatest version ever!.
Great music - really great music - inspires, evokes and then wrings out our emotions... such music transcends borders & languages, even time & space. We are fortunate that some, rare people have the divine gift to make such music.
On a scale of 1 to 10, Bobby Hatfield's brilliant rendition of, "Unchained Melody," is a 15. No wonder Bill Medly (the other Righteous Brother) was kicking himself for allowing Bobby Hatfield to perform it solo.
Watching your reaction reminded me of the movie When Harry Met Sally and the part where they were having lunch and the lady said, “I’ll have what she had!” I was waiting for his high note and you did not disappoint. Bobby Hatfield could make any women swoon!
I never tire of listening to this song. It often gives me goose bumps. I'd never heard this particular performance before today, and it was spectacular. I also enjoy watching people's reactions upon hearing this song for the first time. I know, it's kind of weird; but it's kind of fun, too. You just don't hear this kind of music anymore-oh say, for the past 50 years or so. Nice to see younger people appreciating and enjoying the music of my generation. Watching your reactions kept a big smile on my face the entire time. I was especially watchful because I've heard this song so many time that I knew what was coming and was waiting to see how you reacted at those particular moments. That was really fun. The story of how this came to be a Righteous Brother song instead of a Righteous Brothers song is this, at least from what I've heard. Starting with this, their fourth album (if I remember correctly), they agreed that each of them would do a solo; and they both wanted to do this song. So they flipped a coin, and, well, Bobby won.
How’s everyone doing today? 💗✨

You know what amazes me is what how old the song is is your terms and how young you are and you can still soon see the beauty in this music it's amazing to me I love it
😭💗 thank you
It makes her even more beautiful than she is, doesn't it!
My favorite love song ever done to perfection. If Bobby Hayfields rendition doesn’t stir your heart you have no heart. I was in high school when this came out and it never fails to bring tears to my eyes.
I’m 73 years old and I grew up listening to this music. This is all live, no extra enhancements, nothing but Bobby Hatfield in all of his glory.
And a pretty freaking awesome Orchestra arrangement!
Darlin', you just heard the most played song of the 20th century! and now you know why! Still an all time favorite for weddings, too!
I am so jealous. You were so blessed.
Truly epic & timeless
I love it when a singer isn’t just singing words but you can see the emotion in their face, and know that they actually feel it.
The difference between this dude and most other performers is, this guy is actually expressing the song and lyrics, not merely reciting the text. It's like he's serenading his audience. Absolutely brilliant performance.
btw, i came here only because of the channels name. your name i guess :)
Thank you 😭💗
Suggestion....
If your going the Righteous Brother's route.... ""You're my soul and inspiration"" and ""You've lost that loving feeling""
Some of us were so lucky to have lived with that music and great performers with "godly" voices. And no amplification.
Hi Lizzie, This song has been covered by many artists even to this day (2021), but in my humble opinion, no one performs or sings it like this guy: Bobby Hatfield of The Righteous Brothers, he absolutely owns this song and will forever own it!!! Oh by the way, that "thump" you just heard, was not your mic, it was me "dropping my mic!!!"
the lip bite at end, he knew he nailed it, probably the best live performance ive seen!
Ladies Swoon when Bobby Hatfield sings Unchained Melody
I was fortunate to have seen the show live in the 60s, even better live. SJ
So did I! I was ten and watched it with my mother. That was my first ever swoon...lol.
Rest in peace Bobby 🙏🏾
💗🙏🏾
What about LITTLE LATIN LOOPY LOU? I know their fame is justifiably around their sensational love songs, but they did a little rock and roll to boot
@@daverice7855 Yes Sir, you're absolutely right, that one slipped my mind, but it too is a good one!!!
Bobby Hatfield " Summertime " him singing this is unbelievable talent
Almost 60 years , Not only stands the test of time but sets the bar beyond reach for todays auto tune singers. Simple Truth
10K says you couldn't pass a pepsi challenge between an autotuned vocal and a straight one. Simple truth.
@@jacksavage2205 You got 10k to throw around or you think you funny?
@@donrudd1358 whether I have it or not is irrelevant. The point is: you couldn't pick an autotuned vocal out from a group of 5 and I'm betting you couldn't consistently pick it out even in an A/B test with the same vocal. His vocal is amazing, no doubt, but it doesnt require knocking today's singers for something you couldn't put your ear on if you tried and especially considering his vocal also "set the bar beyond reach" for even the best singers of his own day (long before autotune)
Legends don't need anyone to bring something else down to lift them up, they transcend on their own merits. Like how a beautiful woman doesn't want/need to hear you call another woman ugly to get your point across.
Try liking something for once without telling us how bad/ugly something else is in your opinion.
You should listen to you've lost that lovin feeling.
Agreed - You've Lost That Loving Feeling was the most played song on American radio and television in the 20th century, featured in the movie Top Gun and TV show Cheers, and best of all it features both "brothers" Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield (the soloist here). If you are going to listen to the Righteous Brothers, you really should listen to the harmonies of both "brothers' rather than just one.
elvis did a version of the song, the live version was heart wrenching knowing his
past lost and that he will be dead soon. but this is the best version of all by far.
I LOVE IT.
You should hear the two of them singing together...they were so awesome. I grew up in that era.
What was truly remarkable about this particular video was how you were distracted at the beginning by your mic and then genuinely startled back to attention by the softness of his voice.
literally 😭😭 thank you so much 💗
Yes it was wonderful back when we danced to all these fantastic songs.
Imagine being on a date and this song came on ? Well, back in the day, IT was beyond fantastic. It set the mood for lifetime memories.Trust me.
Amazing 😭
@@davidbruce5524 I did fine.😜
@@realcoolbreeze Yep Joe, .... GREAT TIME to be young
No electronics, no tricks, just that voice!! I was 14 going on 15 that year, love it still 57 years later!
Such a perfect and stunningly beautiful live performance brought out your beautiful emotions. You are one lovely lady Lizzie
I know you will also really enjoy both brothers (not really brothers, a black marine went to their show with some buddies and after they sang he said "thats righteous brothers" and they adopted the name) singing in these videos "You've lost that loving feeling" and "(You're my) Soul and Inspiration"
Thank you so much 🥺💗
@@lizziethegangsterhippie9291 Oh forgot to mention the best version of "..Loving feeling.." is the black and white version with 11M views and 3:47 in length.
Try a song called "Paradise" by Styx From the Album or CD:. Return to Paradise. Look at the comments to this song. It's Beautiful!!!💞
I never thought there could be as many people who never heard Unchained Melody as there are on You Tube. One of the best ballads ever though.
That’s amazing 😂💗 thanks so much for sharing !!
Congratulation staying with your wife.
I love your comment so much, LOL!!

Soft spoken elegance. And the song isn't bad either.

no auto tune or any other tricks Just pure talent
True-no autotune, but to be fair, you only know that because of when it was recorded - in other words, I'd bet my life you couldn't tell the difference between an autotuned vocal and a straight take
Blue eyed soul still breaking hearts. You're correct honey in the 60's this was the ultimate slow dance song everywhere.
More babies were conceived to this song than any other, I think. He had a 4 or 5 octave range. Just incredible!
I loved being a teen in the 50’s and early 60’s. All the great music without Auto tune! So many terrific artists including The Righteous Brothers! Love me Patsy Cline and Sam Cooke too! Ty
Righteous Brothers: "Soul & Inspiration"
I was a young teenager when that song came out. Not even old enough to date yet. But that song was sooo beautiful. How can you not feel what Bobby was feeling when he sang that song. The look on his face...who was he singing that to? Oh so lucky lucky one. I am so happy to see young people getting to hear his magic. It was magic and still is. Thank you Bobby, we miss you " so much." Rest in Peace.
A rocky start but you pulled it off beautifully! Welcome to the 60's!
It was first used in the movie "Unchained". (The song. Not the artist.)
"Effortless slayage." Love it
Now you need to listen to them singing, “you’ve lost that loving feeling”. It was the single most played song on the radio between 1965-2000
Wonderful reaction!❤❤❤
The strings and the voice of the late great Bobby Hatfield made this version of 'Alex North's & Hy Zarets' "Unchained Melody" the greatest version ever!.
He melts my heart for sure. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Bobby "Mr. Blue Eyed Soul" Hatfield......
Great music - really great music - inspires, evokes and then wrings out our emotions... such music transcends borders & languages, even time & space. We are fortunate that some, rare people have the divine gift to make such music.
His Mom was in the audience for that performance. Pure talent! Loved your reaction.
This is an absolute treasure. I’m glad this song will live through this recording forever
On a scale of 1 to 10, Bobby Hatfield's brilliant rendition of, "Unchained Melody," is a 15. No wonder Bill Medly (the other Righteous Brother) was kicking himself for allowing Bobby Hatfield to perform it solo.
Watching your reaction reminded me of the movie When Harry Met Sally and the part where they were having lunch and the lady said, “I’ll have what she had!”
I was waiting for his high note and you did not disappoint.
Bobby Hatfield could make any women swoon!
***A VOICE ONLY HEAVEN COULD HAVE CREATED*** Loved your reactions & commentary 💟💟💟
Thank you 💗💗
I think he did a lot of work and trained when he was at the universe. A great voice is not only talent. I do'nt belive this.
It's amazing how she gets the reality of how this loving song must have impacted individuals personally.
Thank you 😭💗
