Also over 700 languages are spoken in america with some 300+ being native. Everyone assume English is the language every in America. Not true at all. Likewise each state has its own specific cultures including foods and attire etc. America is actually a melting pot and it’s massive. Montana is the size of Germany. And the UK? Waters is very naïve regarding negotiating with Putin. Russia and Ukraine BOTH joined a petition to join NATO. Putin has made it his goal to reconstruct the old USSR.
But China is no bastion of ethical governance by any measure. Their treatment of ethnic minorities, what they've done in Tibet, the crack down on the freedoms promised to Hong Kong, and the constant refusal to acknowledge Taiwan's independence after 70 years of autonomy.

Roger Waters has poor knowldge about Asia history and recent development overall. How could he endorses China so much in this video as if he knew well about China? At 6:50 "In fact, as far as I can recall, who has the Chinese invaded?" Roger doesn't even know about the war between China (PRC) and Vietnam in 1979, the Sino-Vietnamese War (This is not the Vietnam War USA fighted) , and Sino-Indian War in 1962. And Korean War where North Korea initiated the war under the support of China PRC. China sent troops to fight in this war.

@@jeanchen3346 The civil war of China has not formally ended, right? At the end of the World War II, all territories occupied by the Japanese had to be returned to China, right? This includes Taiwan, right? Till the 1980s, the ROC government still had the plan to take back the mainland, right? The right way is to negotiate a peace settlement and avoid military conflicts. Otherwise, Taiwan is to be badly destroyed.
USA: a country with millions of people living in poverty, millions of people who die because they don't have access to health care, millions of young people who cannot go to college because they don't have enough money (unlike other developed countries where health and higher education is accessible to all). A country with social and cultural problems similar to the third world, you simply CANNOT PLAY the little "liberating" soldiers. I mean, you didn't liberate Iraq in 2003 from "weapons of mass destruction" (also, you killed 1 million innocent men, women and children, worse than what Russia has done in Ukraine). Mr Waters got it straight when he pointed out that Russia were already pushing the Nazis back to Germany before the U.S. finally landed on D-Day. Also, the U.S. stayed out until attacked at Pearl Harbor. Even then, the U.S. didn't declare war on Germany until after Germany declared war on the U.S.
Funny how our Media conveniently forgets the course of such important events.
Roger is also correct when he implies that we played a key role in started the war. For instance, U.S. Senator John McCain and CIA Director John Brennan were both in Kiev promising support to the opposition if they rose up to throw down Ukraine's government. After that, Victoria Nuland's phone call revealed that the U.S. hand picked Ukraine's new leaders. So regime change on Russia's border in a country including ethnic Russians, great idea. That would be like Russia regime changing Canada.
I agree with a lot of what Roger is saying, but there's a lot of stuff he's glossing over here. In the 1930's Stalin forced starvation policies lead to the death of millions of Ukrainians. On another one of your points, Russia is equally at fault for installing a puppet leader in Ukraine. Remember Viktor Yanukovych? I also don't agree with his position on Julian Assange, which was not discussed in this interview, but I do agree with his position on the Palestinian situation.
During WWi and WW2, the US was an isolationist country. We were dragged into both wars kicking and screaming. And when we stepped up to the plate, the world thanked us. Granted the US has made some pretty big blunders on the international stage over the years, and we deserve to be reminded of it, but we also (used to be ) the world leader in humanitarian efforts.
Well thank goodness the Soviets didn't 'liberate' the rest of Europe after WW2!

He also says that the US is trying to expand towards Russia, but in reality NATO is just welcoming a sovereign free state that is eligible to join into the organization, that has every right to do so. About Taiwan he says that it is a part of "China", and aigan says the US is trying to expand. In reality the US is just protecting a democratic state from getting attacked by "dictators". Also, Taiwan (ROC) is in fact not a part of China (PRC). The ROC is in fact sovereign, the PRC holds no power over it. However they want to invade it because they are also imperialists trying to conquer the world, and because they want to own the economy, and also want its geographical location wich is strategically important. Taiwan (the ROC) is simply just not recognized by most states or the corrupt UN, because China threatens wich economic sanctions wich is part of their Propaganda, so all of these countries are afraid of doing so, since they hold strong economic ties with China. That is exactly the mistake Waters does with this argumenation of "the whole world recognizes Taiwan as China", wich they in reality don't, just on paper because of Chinas threats. Taiwan people have firmly rejected the idea of becoming part of China. That's been shown on multiple polls over decades. Taiwan people also firmly rejected China's so-called "One Country Two Systems", which has proven a disaster as examplified by Hong Kong. Taiwan President Tsai stands firmly on that position, which is one main reason people voted for her in 2016 and 2020. Every Taiwanese above 20 has a direct vote in presidential election.

Roger Waters is wrong about Gorbachev having been promised that NATO would not expand to the East. It's a favorite talking point of Putin's, but Gorbachev himself publicly denied it in an interview. It never happened. Roger Waters is also wrong about the US being entirely isolationist until Pearl Harbor attack. The US adopted Lend-Lease Act in March, 1941. Pearl Harbor didn't happen until December that same year. Waters should stop spreading disinformation.

There is no Pink Floyd. Roger waters is the co-founder. He left Pink Floyd the band and went solo. The Band without him continued for decades with successful albums and tours. Roger's solo career, his music, didn't fair so well. No he's back to playing the old Pink Floyd material. I though Roger limited views was exposed several times by the host, as were some of the hosts quick replies. The host is certainly not ignorant. He has a prime time slot and brought up some interesting points that only Roger's personal beliefs support. You should know if you have not watched Roger for long he's suspect of many forms of authority and could be classified as holding a dislike of America, American politics, and military. It's his opinion, he's earned the right to feel how he does and I still go see his shows.

1) in 2013 the US started to send weapons and money to Ukraine, not to mention US special forces which trained the neo nazi militia that since has been adopted into the official Ukraine military, to “assist” Ukraine in fighting Russia in the Dunbas region. This is after Ukraine killed thousands of civilians of course..this is called a proxy war..
2) Ukraine broke its Treaty with Russia as soon as it agreed to receive this help from the US, Ukraine has signed a treaty that it would remain a neutral country.
3) the US has researched facilities in Ukraine which again is in violation of treaty.
4) since 2013 you have Putin multiple times warning NATO, and the US to stop using Ukraine in this way…
And that’s the point the US has totally manipulated Ukraine into this conflict with money, it’s no secret the amount of corruption in Ukraine. But you think none of this matters and we can’t know why something happened🤦♂️ these are the exact things that are looked at in history to know why a conflict took place. @@cfosnock Ukraine is in Russia's sphere of influence. Just as Cuba is in the U.S.A. sphere of influence (remember the Cuban Missile Crisis?). The U.S.A. does not seem to understand the Monroe Doctrine when applied to Euro-Asian countries. It is a legitimate policy only when the U.S.A. applies it, but it is called aggression when other countries follow the U.S.A. example. At the very least, Biden/Blinken are world class hypocrits.
