He had run out of parachutes so he loaded all his men into a cargo plane, told the pilot to fly low to the ground above the snow banks and made his men jump out. Funny thing was, even though a lot died or were seriously injured, enough lived to actually take their objective and hold it.
Tip: when you are landing with 1 landing gear pull the gear up: you do this to keep your plane from shredding up and so you can just land without landing gear.

Yeah I’m doing my first play through now and if I’m about to lose a crew member or get shot down I just quit to main menu the do the mission over lol there no point otherwise cause you’ll just get a stock plane and level 1 crew and have to start over again with upgrades and skills and shit. On my second play through tho I’ll do that and actually worry about survival and will pay the consequences of getting shot down. I’m also doing that now as I’m also going through the usaaf expansion.
That last mission is probably 1% success rate. I had best crew possible, most amount of armor and belt fed quad 50s and my plane stilled got fucked. Mainly because lightweight engines but I couldn't repair them because of the constant 262 strafes. Then the rest of the crew got hurt pretty bad.

It’s honestly funny and aggravating to watch people not understand how to play this game. First thing you buy is armored fuselage so you can take twice the amount of hits than usual.

There's only 3 maneuvers: Emergency dive, Corkscrew, and Flak Evade.
Liam Great you can place your own markers to change direction eventually which can be useful occasionally
Samahawk 360 It's extremely useful to avoid enemy radar and flak.
