    Thank you for these recommendations. I always enjoy when reviewers talk about music they like and more importantly why they like it.

    Thanks so much for this. The combination of "blues" and "audiophile" is a fantastic thing for me to find on TH-cam, especially when done with such calm professionalism (no hype!).

      Hmmm... I wonder if that is related to the discrepancy of views and subscriptions between my channel and some similar channels from other countries...

    These are all great records! I think my top pick would be a tie between blues singer and folk singer..
    My favourite blues album though is “Rolling through this world” by Bob Brozman and Jeff Lang with Angus Diggs. A bit hard to find.. I ended up ordering the CD.. it’s awesome, the album won ARIA 2002 blues album of the year.
    Another that is a must listen is a tribute to Mississippi John Hurt called “Avalon Blues” ..

    Thanks, great one, of these I have the Buddy Guy one on CD, have probably not listened to that over my ZMF's yet so that goes on the playlist tonight, but I sure remember it as good sounding. I am also waiting for shipment of Folk Singer on vinyl, really looking forward to that. Must check out the others on your list. Others worth checking out is Lightnin’ Hopkins - Lightnin’, great recording, but sure it also have the strange placement issue of vocals and guitars too much separated when you know mr Hopkins probably played guitar and sang at the same time. Soul blues by same artist may also be worth checking out. If we venture more into blues rock, there are good sounding stuff from Stevie Ray to be found.... Albert King , Born under a bad Sign , and Willie Dickson and Memphis Slim on Willie's Blues ain't bad either!

    Thank you! You seem to enjoy classic blues. There's a series of albums called The Real Folk Blues. Muddy has 1. Howlin Wolf & JLH. Did you consider these for your list? I'd like to hear your thoughts since your system is more revealing than mine

      @@PassionforSound there's another series called the London Sessions. Muddy, Howlin Wolf and Bo didley have one. They're recorded with Rock all Stars like Clapton. But the only one I like is Howlin's. Especially the Little Red Roster and intro.

      @@PassionforSound sad to hear these videos are not getting as many clicks. Maybe because I’m a huge blues fan. I ended up watching it three times back-and-forth to catch all the name of the albums and your descriptions. Maybe a playlist with sample of each of these albums linked to TIDAL or Qobuz would incentivize the people not as ready to put an effort into it. Hopefully that would not be wasted effort on your part if the audience is mainly gear oriented. I hope there’s a way to have a sort of balance because I find these great. Hopefully it’s not just me. Great content overall!

    Thanks for the suggestions. Since getting into higher end headphones I have been sad to realize my Stevie Ray Vaughn albums don't scale, if anything they sound worse. Maybe I just haven't found the right headphone, but those recordings only sound good in a bar situation or big speaker system, I don't know if it was the way he recorded or the mastering but it is what it is.

    • @PassionforSound
      @PassionforSound  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's often a sad reality of getting better gear - it starts to reveal the limitations of poor-to-average mixing/mastering. I find that a bassier headphone (like the Meze Empyreans) can help to keep those recordings sounding fantastic and still fun

    For "music first audiophiles" (Darko) a list called "top 5 $genre albums for audiophiles" is kind of contradictory. Nevertheless the Muddy Waters and B. B. King albums are a very good choice in my opinion.

  • @DB-Lackaufbereitung

    Thank you for sharing. Folk Singer is one of my absolute audiophile favourites. But, and this is of enormous importance: it MUST be the MO-FI mastering version!

    • @PassionforSound
      @PassionforSound  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad you liked it! I'll need to go and check out the different Folk Singer versions. Because I listen a lot on headphones, mono mixes don't sound as good as stereo remasters. When I'm on speakers it's a bit different

    So nothing from the last 50 years, right? Nothing from R.Gallagher, R.Trower, A.Lee, G.Moore, J.Healey, SRV, J.Bonamassa, W.Trout etc

    • @PassionforSound
      @PassionforSound  ปีที่แล้ว

      Robert Cray Band and Rolling Stones (the album I included here) are both in the last 5-10 years IIRC. I did have SRV, Gary Moore, Joe Bonamassa and Jeff Healey in my long list, but the production quality didn't stand up to the shortlisted options

    • @Yiannis2112

      @@PassionforSound Forgive me for not following what you're saying. The production quality of those, didn't stand up to the ones listed?

    • @PassionforSound
      @PassionforSound  ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct. That's not to say they were bad, but for the purposes of testing audio gear, I would choose the ones I shortlisted over those others. For general listening/musical enjoyment, things are probably reversed somewhat.

    I’m not usually into much Jazz but Kind of Blue has become my go to for enjoying the magic of the hobby.
    The special shimmer and speed of the LCD-R brought out the cliche “things I’d never heard before” in such an obvious yet pleasant way.
