What you said in 14:44, I learned that the hard way. Soldering not melting to my hand getting burned, it turns out that my iron was 40W and my ceiling fan was too powerful to let it reach melting point. I had to replace it.

WEP sending you a free piece of equipment, no strings , shows a few very big things: 1 - they support your channel, if not directly, then by simply 'you have their approval' - that shows they have good taste. 2- they are extremely confident their product will work with your needs 3- they really want your professional feedback, as someone who uses products like theirs often. - nothing like using other products at around $200 US to fix a $1.5K+ product. (also love the random explosions, they make me chuckle) If I am ever in need of an airflow station - I will definately re watch this video and remember WEP
I see your subs are now rocketing up faster than the temps on your new hot air station and deservedly so. This has now become my favourite repair channel. It's a combination of your skills, video production, clear explanations and magnetic personality. There are not many repair channels I've discovered with this particular winning combination so you'll now get your silver play button in no time now and then beyond. In fact I'd start working on a patreon channel if you don't already have one. :)
Making it look easy is a bad and good at the same time. The bad thing is that kids think they can do it as well. The good thing is that they deliver work for the techs :)
@@northwestrepair I know all to well. I do laptop boars since two years. If it's not a north ridge fix short, you're in for some heavy thinking sessions.
I know just enough about reballing chips to know that it can be a complete pain in the arse, even WITH the right tooling . The precision and [enhanced] speed and zoom that we get to watch you work in is absolutely amazing. And it doesn't matter if they're you're balls or someone else's, they're all someone else's balls to us ;)
I honestly have to ask myself why I like watching these GPU repair videos so much, but they are very entertaining to watch and really like the investigation part when trying to figure out the problem. Also, the music tie in is always well done.
Your old hot air station (with a blowing fan inside the gun) is suitable for mobile phone PCB repair and for soldering BGA balls when you reball it (because of the low air flow). It struggles to deliver the heat quickly on thick boards (leading to damages most of the times). But your new one is way better for reflowing the GPU because the air flow is stronger and it delivers the heat onto the PCB quickly.
I love this level of production quality. Just enough information in the small text to get tons of information, good flow to the video, but not so overdone that things become cheesy
I been following you for about 6 months now and every video you post up on TH-cam are great. I appreciate you for your patience and knowledge in fixing all types of Graphics cards. Just your knowledge in general blows me away. Keep making these videos because they're so awesome to watch. Thumbs up

First half of the video i'm look and rewinding, that's not a wep 993d but then, it comes into action. I guess that's a good air station to get. I was about to start buying and constructing your first station you improvised. Glad a watched this video. Thanks.

Great fix! I recently sent my card to a big store in my country for repairs. I didn't have high hopes, and indeed, they couldn't fix it. Instead of admitting their inability, they tried to obfuscate the situation, making it sound like a mystery of technology that someone like me couldn't comprehend. They told me, 'You opened the card and droped the VRAM cooler. The VRAM was too hot, causing damage to the surrounding circuits.' (im opened the cars 8 month ago to replace dried paste, it work fine till recent, the thermal pad still there im not remove it, i dont know what other part is vram cooler outside of main heatsink that it contact to with pad) When I inquired about the possibility of repairing it, they once again resorted to vague technical language, instead of 'This card is broken too badly and cannot be repaired' they say 'This line of products cannot be repaired.' what line? try tell me that whole product line of some brand that somehow cant be repaired or what

But I also viewed a video of your pre-heater modification, you have added an infrared ceramic upper heater. You made it with lot of efforts. My question is that, why you are not using it? and why you are still using air flow upper heating method?
Why do you mix existing solder with leaded solder before using wick to siphon it out? /me knows nothing about soldering Also, it's really nice that you describe the steps in the video. Otherwise for uninitiated (like me) , you just do some things and I have no idea what.

To solve this issue with magnetic sensor I added 3 additional sensors in to the handle. Add replace magnets in the stand to stronger from old HDD.

But even with that it's not bullet proof.
Two sensors inside the handle would be ideal I think.
