I thought it was ridiculous that Darla was acting like this. They were drunk when they slept together! She’s acting as if they were in a relationship 🤦🏽♂️
The waiter doesn’t even bother to come to the tables anymore. The Spectras and The Forresters are known to get up and leave before ordering. It happens all the time 😂
How does anyone defend Darla after this? She outright admits she’s jealous of Macy and Thorne . . .jealous of what was never hers to take. Not a Thorne fan but he will be vilified for this and he is basically a victim. He was so drunk he thought Darla was Macy. He didn’t even know who he was sleeping with! Darla, OTOH, was not nearly as drunk. As @Annie astutely pointed out, if the sexes were reversed here, we’d have serious questions about whether this encounter was even truly consensual. I still think those questions should stand, IMO.
Yes, in this episode Darla does seem like the villain. Especially when contrasted with Thorne's guiIt about something that we _saw_ was not his fault (he just assumes he was an active participant because he's the guy, and even _apologized_ to Darla the morning after for not remembering sleeping with her), and Macy's genuine compassion (even asking "was it something I said?" as if she was going to take responsibility for Darla being upset). The thing is, I don't even think the writers _intend_ for us to view Thorne as a vic tim here, because the circumstances (him believing it was Macy) were never clarified _to Macy._ And really, Thorne saying Macy's name changes that entire scene dramatically but the subsequent writing doesn't take it into account.
I have to say this sudden change disoriented me. I could not even have the time to understand. Darla was the only character who lived a life of her own so far from drama. Funny, always ready to unintentionally cheer someone up.
@babs4848 yes, she had a minor role but she was so endearing and I loved her friendship with Macy. It's like I said before, 2003 will be the year that no character survives intact.
Now clark and darla i can get behind. Clark and sally have been over forever. They always seemed to have a good friendship. They make way more sense than thoren and Darla
I don’t feel a bit sorry for Darla. She knew Thorne loved Macy, she wasn’t that drunk but he was wasted drunk. If you ask me she took advantage of him and the situation.
