As a Texan I can attest that everything stated was accurate 😅. We have our own pledge and recite it after the American one. The mums are mostly around homecoming and have bells on them along with trinkets, and can be Up to 30pounds. We also have the best brisket no question about it. And yes in 5th grade we spent a week learning how to square dance, line dance, and a few others. Texas history is required aside world and American history. Buc-ee's is awesome has extremely clean restrooms it's more of a large truck stop though and whataburger is actually good (they have locations in other states as well but not as many). HEB is amazing and they give out lots of free samples. Oh and we have Bluebonnet, catfish and fair festivals. We have an abundance of ranches as well and rodeos are so important people will take a leave off of school or work to go compete, often counting as a UIL credit or win cash money the events can be anything from art to floral to animal husbandry (we also have something called a rodeo clown). We focus a lot on agriculture, and Houston is the cultural center of the south! It's very flat and depending on where you visit it can be humid all year and blistering hot or dry and snowy! Fun fact Austin started the breakfast taco, and howdy is said but very infrequently unless you're at the rodeo, joking around, or are from out in the country. You can also find a Texas flag pretty much anywhere you look, all of my classes had a flag and usually there is some type of Texas pun or star shaped art (Texas is the lone star state) The rangers are the best, seriously they sent a swat team to take out a hijacked 18 wheeler and the swat team couldn't do it so the rangers went off roading and got onto the road with the car and shot out the tires. And most of the people in Texas should know a fairly decent amount of Texas unless they dropped out of highschool 😃

You then pin the huge thing on the front of your shirt for the homecoming football game. I didn't know it was just a Texas thing. But it is a huge tradition. My sister had 3 of them, each mum is as big as your face and the ribbons can be over 3 feet in length. They are gigantic. Normally you have to make them yourself, but some people have made a business of making and selling them for $50 a pop.

Eh, it's really a different kind of BBQ. Texas is big on beef, especially brisket. You don't really want much except a good dry rub. The sauce we do use has more of a southwestern influence. Really it's more Kansas/Missouri that you'd see the rivalry with, maybe Tennessee a bit over the dry rub.
The other BBQ states, especially the Carolinas, do a lot of pork, which is part of the reason there are so many different sauces in that part of the country, and honestly, they're all pretty good. But you'd never put much sauce on a good brisket (I wouldn't put any on it, except maybe as a marinade before smoking it), and a dry rub works on ribs, but not super well on a lot of other pork dishes like pulled pork.
If you go to a BBQ place for the first time, look up what they specialize in. It's rare for them to have more than 1 or 2 things they do really well. For example, a place that does good brisket rarely has pulled pork as good as the brisket and vice versa. Turkey is almost always a safe bet. If they can't smoke a turkey right, it's unlikely the rest of the food will be good. Even Dicky's has good turkey and their Brisket is terrible.
States are similar but there will always be restuarants that don't follow state trends. Texas does brisket really well and it's hard to find comparable brisket unless it's in another state that's big on it. On the other hand, the Texas pulled pork I've had isn't that great (not talking about carnitas, just sterotypical "murican" BBQ).

And several students I've met from other countries found it odd. Also, we have a town called Concord (Not the one you learn about in history class. It's just named after it) that legitimatly has "The best barbecue in the US." It won several awards to validate the title. And they're only open one day a week. Can you guess what day that is?
    ....
It's Sunday. Directly after church. The entire town goes there to eat basically. That's why they're only open one day. They do a massive buffet-style barbeque. I've only been there once, and I don't really remember what the barbecue tasted like. I just remember liking it.
