📝 Have you written a book? My life goal is to be a published author and make a living from writing and I am using this year to gain experience, build up a portfolio and work on a book with my agent. I have just finished the final draft of that book, as you can see in this video. I did self-publish a book about bullying when I was seventeen which is available on Amazon (amzn.to/3mdJKLm), but I'm slightly embarrassed by it now!

1. Organise your notes and declutter them
2. Save files/documents that are going to be useful
3. Digitally scan notes, research, etc that you need in the future
4. Make a to-do list for ALL your schoolwork over the summer
5. Make a bucket list of things you'd like to do during summer
6. Reflecting your academic year
7. Plan your ideal morning routine
8. Show gratitude towards your teachers
9. Unpack your bag properly
10. Throw away things that you don't use anymore
11. Check through your school emails
12. Write summaries of important things you've learnt that year ( i. Academically ii.Personal )
13. Wash your school uniform, shoes, etc
14. Clean your school water bottles, lunchboxes
15. Pack your school bag early
16. Set goals for the summer

I'd like to add a couple of things students might find useful to do over summer:
- Find work experience / volunteering (it looks great on CVs and in interviews, and will encourage you to think about the sort of profession you want to go into)
- Attend university open days / apprenticeship fairs etc. as these are great ways to start thinking about what you want to do after high school / sixth form / college
- Try and visit cities you are considering going to university (maybe spend a day there or even spend a night there) and just explore
- Finally (and most importantly) have fun and relax! Recharge - and this will look differently to everyone, but allow yourself to enjoy the summer break!

As a university teacher, I can say we appreciate notes SO much. I rarely hear what I do well and students often seem offended rather than grateful. It’s a true kindness to say thank you :)
We graduated at the same time but I'm on the other side of the world, so it was nice to see that even though we have different lives, we still had similar things going on in our lives. Thank you for showing us your academic life and experience.
Another tip with regards to keeping notes; keep notes and past papers for subjects that students often struggle with. I never thought I'd become a tutor and now that I have, I wish I kept my past quizzes and exams to help my students. Alternatively you might make a friend or know of a family member that will be doing that subject/module and they will really appreciate extra notes, exercises, and past papers. You know, guys, I usually finished all my exams and tests in the last week of classes, so I had so much free time before the end of the academic year and then holidays. And I didn't declutter anything, you know... lol ... The first time I did this, it was after I graduated from the university. And let me tell you, it was crazy! I hoarded so much stuff over the years, tons and tons of stuff. lol ... It took me two weeks to get it under control. lol ... Please, don't repeat my mistakes. lol Cheers!

Ruby but the school year ended weeks ago in most places...
In the UK, it ends this week for most year groups (obviously year 11 and year 13 finished earlier due to exams)

This is so helpful! I am going to use a lot of these as after my school year ended I haven't even cleaned and token the stuff out of my REALLYYY dirty backpack, so dirty I'm getting another (we just kept our backpacks on the floor the whole year, I'll miss my backpack though, I've had it for half of my life, its really pretty is giant. I hope the one I'm getting this year will fit my stuff as its not as big). Anyway I was wondering, did you delete your how to be like Hermione videos, I watched them years ago and that's how I found your channel, I wanted to watch them again and I only found 2? I also took half of the stuff from my pencil case and now I can't find them lol!

Do you have any tips for burnout? I had a great gpa and graduated with honors at high school but when I went to college it was different. I feel like I am in a slump and unmotivated and my goals are in question?
A couple tips I've found useful
- Remind yourself of what your goals and ambitions are, and why they are important to you. One I always use is that I want to get a good job that I enjoy so that I wake up excited to go to work and don't resent it. Another one I use is that I want to learn more about the world around me - which usually helps when I get bored over summer.
- Do what I call 'educational relaxation' activities - so things that can be relaxing, but allow you to learn new things - like visiting museums, doing volunteering etc. Try and do light things to ease you in, but try and get some fresh air everyday. I know when you are in a slump it's hard, but it's so important to fight through it for your mental health.
- I'd say try and find the root cause of the burnout - maybe a specific exam you are stressed about (for example) and blurt all of your worries out, talk to friends and family, and allow yourself time to heal.
^ Sorry if this is waffle - I don't even know if you will read this or find it helpful, but I thought I'd share some things I find helpful.

clearly you have had luck of good teachers, never have i felt bar like one that they cared about what they were teaching nor if it was impacting us. In fact 70% of teachers had a profundly negative effect on me. might just be my luck thoo🤕

You need to also take charge of your own education. Sometimes teachers won’t teach you everything. Especially in college you will be on your own. As long as a teacher does their positions requirements then you should be learning
