When I watch this video I feel some kind of fear deep inside me when master demonstrates his skills. Really, he doesn't need to fight to protect himself. One step forward is more than necessary.
I have seen Taido practitioners spar with Karate practitioners before. Their movement seems to be more unexpected. If you see it coming, then it won't work, but if they catch you off guard, which good Taido guys can do, then it can be effective. Not for long though. People will catch on
Just another pretty face without proven substance. Beautifully polished choreography . But what about reality . Such as real combat applications against other martial arts. Otherwise, it's just another empty pursuit.
A good boxer is a good boxer, whether he has ever fought against another style of martial artist or not. If they are very good at it, then I'd guess they will earn more from it than you will from whatever you do. Even if they aren't world class, they are playing the game they love against other people who want to do the same. If you want to declare what they do to be worthless, you are a) very arrogant, b) advised to do it out of range of good boxers who might take offense at your arrogance. Myself, I practice karate and capoeira. I'm sixty years old and have better flexibility and a lower resting heart rate than some guys I know of half my age. I don't get into fights, as I try not to be arrogant about what I do, so I don't really need to know if I can take out someone who practices another martial art, though I'll happily learn from them, 'cos learning is fun. I wouldn't mock a watercolour artist 'cos all the greats used oils, or someone who writes on a keyboard on the grounds that Shakespeare used a quill. It would be silly. I'd look at what they did and at the least be happy they had something they enjoyed - there's more than enough misery in the world, so fun is to be treasured. What these people do looks like fun. There are elements that could be taken from it and used in MMA. The fact that it isn't that is really immaterial to the people who practice it. I don't think they are making claims that it is superior to anything else, or that it has magical powers. I don't really see why it has to measure up to your ideas of what it should be, when you obviously can't be bothered to learn it to find out what it's lacking in. Why do you do that?

伝統空手やってますが、空手と似ている気がしました。武道としては理にかなっている動きで大変参考になりました。
実践的では無い、と仰っている方は武道を格闘技の類と勘違いされている気がします。
空手の言葉を借りるなら、空手に先手なし、血気の勇を戒めること。闘わないための武道です。
元々空手から分離した武道みたいだよ。

相手の不意をつく動きだと感じます。短刀を持った接近戦とかに応用どうでしょうか？
棒等を持った相手に、有効だと経験したことがあります。
また、技を知らずに初対面ではまず初手を食らってしまうだろうと感じました。
スタンドアップだと間合いが取りにくい。もし総合の技で立ち向かうとしたら数発被弾することは覚悟のうえで、寝かせて上になってのたこ殴り狙いしかない。でも基本技が急所突きなので、それも難しいか。目、金的、膝、首、水月しか狙ってこないもの。
総合といつてもルールに則った技術しかない。上に乗っても金的は守れない。

自分は古武術の類への幻想ゼロ、格闘技としてはこんな撃ち方はダメだ。でも躰道は競技化されてるという点でマトモそう。試合映像はスピード命のポイント制競技って感じに見えた。楽しんでる人多そうだし競技者に俊敏性がつくのは間違いない

躰道やってますが、基本的に「相手の攻撃をうける」という行動は基本しません。
避けます。
又、技自体が敵の攻撃を避けながら攻撃を加えられるようになってます。
元々躰道とは「体格差のある相手でも倒せるようにする」という思いから作られた武道です。
なので、攻撃を空手のようにうけてしまうと体格差で負けてしまうんですよね(笑)
あの構えは躰道の全ての技に入りやすくなってますし、やろうと思えば各種空手のうけもできますよ～
ただ、空手やボクシングより間合いがかなり広いので空手やボクシングの技はそのままでは基本的に躰道には通用しませんけどね(笑)

クルクル回ってる動きが多いのはなにか意味でもあるのでしょうか？
私は柔道を少々嗜んでるのですがどのような意図がある動きなのかとても気になります。

躰道の技は大きく分けて5種類に分かれます
その中の一つの遠心力を利用する旋という動きが回る動きですね
倒れる力を使う変の動きも回っているように見えるかも知れません
ちゃま。 気になったので調べてみました。元は空手からの派生武道なんですね。歴史も50数年と比較的若いのも相まってかここまで知らずに生きてきました。面白いですねぇ〜もう少し詳しく調べてみたいと思いました

ちょっとまだよくわからない。
他の方も言ってるけど、カポエイラっぽいのもあるし、テコンドーっぽいとこもあるし、地しょう拳っぽいのもあるし。
でも突きの動きに、空手やボクシング、または中国拳法の様な力の使い方は感じられない気がするんだけど、あまり重要視されてないのだろうか？
足技のバリエーション多い様なので意表をつくことは出来ると思う。
