With thanks to the credited uploaders for their videos!
Breathtaking talent, charisma and personality. He is not just leaping, he is defying the laws of gravity. Beyond human, an angel.
His jumps are sensational, and I've never seen anyone plié during a series of pirouettes, but what is most extraordinary is his freedom, abandon, and joy.
Thank you for your comment! So well said: "what is most extraordinary is his freedom, abandon, and joy".
just for historic matter chabukiani already did pirouettes ending in plie in flames of paris and soloviev in corsaire both available on yt
Why have I never heard of him before ... well, when he was in his prime my life was hard work and marriage: no time to lift up my head ...
So thank you ery much for this compilation: he's breathtaking, simply breathtaking, and those video clips show that many young, rising stars still have a long way to go to get where he was.
Thanks for your wonderful comment!
I would do that too, if it were still possible. You were fortunate indeed! He is legendary!
He is a very special diamond in the Rooyal ballet's crown of great dancers... Unique and magical🏆🏅💐😍🥰❤️❤️❤️🎈
This dancer is EXTRAORDINARY. I wish I had got to see him perform live. ❤❤❤
Words fail one!!!
A great actor and musical artist who dances with riveting EXCITEMENT!
Stunning ease & exactitude technically, so that he can throw himself into each dance with abandon and with such speed! The leaps, the multiple turns! A genius of the bravura dancing type! Thank you for this flowing compilation of his Thrilling interpretations.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think he out-elevates Baryshnikov, yet never loses his elegance, line, perfect feet, etc. My husband asked if he was in a flying harness lol! Thanks for posting, don't know how I missed this when it first landed.
You’re absolutely right! Kumakawa’s elevation is incredible! Thank you so much for your wonderful comments!
I could fall in love with Tetsuya, if only for the joy of watching him dance. I loved the fluidity of his shoulders in the second part when he was very young and had still shorter hair. Why do I not just cut to the chase? I feel elation when I watch him dance. What more could I possibly ask for?
BRAVISSIMO!! Tetsuya Is PHENOMENAL! 💖🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Absolutely amazing... Words fail me. I want to stop breathing and just watch...💜
Speed, control, huge leaps with lots of air under him and skillful in a range of styles, he does everything a great male dancer should be doing. Thanks for posting this Bundu Ballerina, he certainly gets his due in this compilation.
Edit, his lifts ain't bad either
Remarkable height, spin, speed and aplomb. Wow!
His technique is sensational, what an amazing dancer !! I never had the chance to see him live, and that has been a regret of mine till today. He's simply brilliant.
Incredible video!! Thank you for this amazing tribute of a great and very talented dancer ❤❤❤
Wow!!! The loft in his jumps is amazing!!! 🤩
Przecudownie. Doskonały talent. Bravo.
Thank you for uploading this beautiful spectacle. Tetsuya Kumakawa dance is stunning and fantastic!❤️👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Spasiba!
He’s incredible, how have I never heard of him until now??
Tetsuya Kumakawa is a very great jumping talent!
There must be a bunch of invisible angels lifting him up from down below every time he jumps
One of the few that can confidently pull off Push Comes to Shove and Rhapsody. Goosebumps!
And the phantastic Franz!💓
Did Faroukh Ruzimatov and Kimin Kim have a child? 😅 Seriously though, why doesn't Kumakawa get talked about more 😱 Legendary
Great dancer!
Thank you for posting this! I love most the "Push came to shove" solo. Perfect control of muscles! Imo Kumakava belongs to the bests male dancers in the last century: Nijinsky, Wassiljev, Bruhn, Nureev, Baryshnikov and Kumakava.🤗
I agree entirely. Push Comes To Shove is visionary choreography, superbly danced. Kumakawa is indeed as near as you will find to the perfect dancer.
I would add Anthony Dowell in the Bruhn department.
@@linhiril664 Yes, I dont saw Dowell often - sadly- I knew to write the names in a rank is always a bit unfair. Between the centuries I would say Ziskaridse, Acosta, Malakhov and Sarabia. Damboise and Villella ; would be real unfair or snobby not to name them ... I`m sure thats unfair again?🤥..
And also this century: In 2006, he won the “fifth Asahi Scenic Art Prize” for his artistic and original interpretation and presentation of the classical pieces Don Quixote and The Nutcracker.
@@zahramarashi7662 True, thanks a lot for your comment!
Yes, he had unmatched jumping ability and a ballon to be dreamed of, but he was also a great artist in terms of phrasing and musicality. Teddy --> the best.
Beautiful!!😍A true work of art Tetsuya is bravissimo!!🌹🩰
Perfeito! Maravilhoso!🙏❤️💐👏👏👏🇧🇷🖖
Awesome dancer. Genius
Brilliant
He's my favorite.
Bellísima recopilación. Gracias TheBunduBallerina
Gracias
He is The best of the best. Stunning!
Que maravilla!!!
Técnica y expresión únicas 👏👏👏
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻bravo!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻BRAVO!
UAU!!!!! UAU!!!!!! Genial!!!!
Sensacional !!!!!
Sheer Joy!
Spasiba! ☺️
lo amo
Wowowowoooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Very true 😊
With Viviane Durante, legendary pair
One thing i learned from watching Noureev both in person and on video is that while you get a clear picture of a dancer’s technique from a video, you do not often get the full picture of a person’s depth of artistry. This guy has wonderful technique (not terribly unusual these days) but he kind of leaves me cold as do many others who present excellence in other areas. I have seen maybe 3 or four videos of Noureev that come close to what it was to see him in person and they are not the usual ones that people reference…. Anyway he is quite good.
His technics may not be "terribly unusual" today, but his Charisma is rather unmatched. After all, ballet is not all about athletics.
@@zahramarashi7662 How could one be left cold seeing this diamond, this excellence, this great and passionate artist, charismatic and jolly, simply lovable, it warms my heart and my soul!!! I too fell in love
Remember, he's really from a previous generation, when unparalleled male technique tended to be restricted to the top tier companies. Push was choreographed for a smaller body with different proportions, so it's even more amazing that he's staying comfortaly with the music. And Honestly, if he were at his peak today (not sure if he's still dancing at 50) he'd still be exceptional
@@fanjaniainafawbush4216 I understand and HOW!
@@minissa2009 He would be more likely even more outstanding. I hope he will do so.
Not enough partnering skills shown to say he’s a great male ballet dancer. Their primary purpose is to showcase and support the ballerina. But the public does love to watch those flashy leaps turns and spins!
The idea that male dancers are only there to showcase, support and lift the ballerina is terribly outdated! This was true a century ago! These skills are only a part of the male dancers attributes. And there are videos of Kumakawa's outstanding partnering available.
Lovely dancer.
I think there is an error in dates/ages …
born 1972
joined RB company 1989 (age 17 .. turned 18 later in the season)
promoted to principal in 1993, age 21.
The youngest ever at the time
Later surpassed by Marianela Nunez (20), Alina Cojocaru(19), Sergei Polunin (19)
Thank you. He did indeed join the Royal Ballet Company in 1989 the year he was 16 turning 17. :)
W O W!!!!!🤩🤩🤩❤️🍵🇮🇹
He is extremely talented, yes, but there will never be another Mikhail Baryshnikov!!!
The unequivocal best!!!!
Breathtaking jumps and pirouettes. But I can’t stand the audience clapping at every jump. 👎👎
Yes, but the clapping gives energy back to the dancer.
@@susannevollmer2347 Clapping at the end of the number would be enough.
@@catherinecozzano2580 If you are interested: there is a video which shows a rare moment in ballet - the public dont dare to clap and dont want to disturb the performance - this happened in a part of a 💓Giselle performance with Evelyne Hart and Farukh Ruzimatov in the Marinsky! 🌹🌹2003 Plisetzkaja Gala.
@@susannevollmer2347 Thanks for the tip. I’ll try to find the video. 🌸
