Well, I'm thinking now of buying another springer air rifle, and just today, after all my 'shopping' I see this model 48. From what I've seen here, this one should be near the 'top of my list'. I'm looking at Weihrauch, and Diana, and all things equal, ( as they say ) the side lever 48 interests me the most. Thanks for these reviews, and I have just now subscribed to you channel to see what others you have reviewed.
A year later and I shot my 48 again today. Dang fine shooter. I also have an Air Arms TX200 and several PCP's. I like them all. It's a lot easier shooting the springers though, no compressor or air tank.
That has the be the most accurate springer in the world! I wish I would have viewed this prior to getting my RWS 350 n-tec. Would like to see how they compare at 50 yards. Thanks for the video
I have a Diana 52 (almost identical to the 48, I think the only difference is the pattern on the stock) and had it for around 30 years. It's as good today as when new and I'll never part with it.
Nice Video. I've been shooting RWS rifles since 94ish with a 34 I bought through a sports catalog I believe bass pro via check(before the Internet that's how it was done kids) and then upgraded to a 36. FF many years to about 2015 and I bought a 54(Sams as the 48 but fancy stock and recoiless action) and it groups like this every time I shoot it they are amazing. Completely beats the 36. One thing I'll say is I had horrible luck with center point scopes. Two broke on the 54 before I finally topped it with a Leopold. Great glass and lifetime warranty.
I own 4 Marauders, 2 in .177, 1 a .22 Field Target, 1 a.22 SAM and they all shoot great, like yours did. I particularly like this test because I just backorder a Diana 48 in .22 and have been nervous about my choice since I know nothing about Diana. Now I feel better after watching you and a couple others test this gun. Great video!
I own a .22 Marauder and have a .22 Diana 48 "in the mail" and looking forward to getting it. The results are what I would have expected, though that springer was a pleasant surprise. Hope mine shoots as good.
I have a Diana Blaser AR8 in 22 caliber. The T06 trigger on this rifle is the best trigger bar none on all my air rifles including the PCP's I own. Ditto for my Diana 460 magnum and 350 magnum. Love the T06 trigger! Cocking effort for the Blaser is stiff with the gas ram, but you're rewarded with sending the 18.3 grain JSB's downrange at 780 ft/sec for near 25 ft/lbs of power. I'm at 1000 feet above sea level so that number would likely go up at sea level slightly... Still love my springers and gas rams! Love the simplicity and after practicing with them for some 30 years now. They've made me into a great shot with anything else including firearms. Nice video!
Great Comparison. I have the Marauder Gen 2 in .25 cal and it is my favorite air rifle. I had considered the RWS Diana 48, but it is not available in .25 cal. I hope RWS Diana will eventually come out with a side or under lever .25 cal. Their quality is incredible and I feel they produce the best single shot side/under lever air rifles on the market. Just wish they were available in .25 cal.
Yes, they are twangy, but having the Diana .48 in the much maligned by some ppl in .25 cal. & adjering to 25 yds tops, im very happy with 3/4" groups. This one was made in 2001 & althou it may have just 2,000 shots thru it , i can count on it like a vw beetle.lol Very nice comparison & good to know WE are stepping up in the game .
You can beat German made, have you ever had the chance to shoot a British made 'Air Arms TX200' if not then you need to try one and soon, quieter, lighter and a darn sight more refined than that 48, the 'TX200' was built to compete directly with the German made 'Weihrauch HW77/97' and that it certainly did, plus some...
MachineFight ; Uhhhh, yeah, sure I have 🤔, aren't they that German manufacturer, you know, the one where the QC is rapidly going down the plug hole... 🙄
silverbackdp if you get a chance to get the Diana model 48 get it. I got it, its the best gun I ever had. I shot a pigeon from 72 yards out and I know it can do more than 72 yards. But one key since so powerful air rifle make sure to have good handling when shooting because the recoil is very strong when shooting one move you miss the target but very nice shooting groups I mean very.
So would you call a diana 48 backyard friendly as far as the sound // very nice video I was looking into both of them / looks like you need to stretch out shooting distance with those groups. Good shooting. Kevin
A springer performing equal to a PCP.. That should give you an idea as to what brand is superior. But then again, I guess its not fair to hold ANY Diana up against a Benjamin. The results are a given. Massive quality difference.
I shooting with different kind RWS when I was 7 y old, when I trying PCP I never ever will back.. accuracy is unimaginable... i heat puts pellet one by one in the tiny hole, impossible to do that with gloves at winter.. all power is come from one spring who get weak after long use, it may broken, rifle power can not reach more than 30J .. simply there is no spring to can generate more power.. because the spring open fast to leave pistons its make absolutely bad noise with kicking hard, you shoots one bird and all others take a warring and fly far away, many time when I miss the bird i had no chance to refill the gun for second shoots due to the high level of sound and time i need to refill the gun with air and pellet.. all RWS have worse dovetail for scope.. even in diana models.. only advantage in this kinds air guns is your rifle never stay empty, every time you want you can simply fill it ready for shoots.. other side pcp are super accurate, super powerful, level of sound is so low, using magazine and side lever possible to shoots 5, 10 or more pellets one by one or in semi auto can be fire all .. so simple to charge, Every time When I testing my Pulsar HP .25 , from 50meter distance , all 10 pellets went to one tiny hole in center of target who is 5mm circle, like if someone seen that will thinks the hole its trace of one pellet not 10, i hits Pigeons from 150 meter many time easily who certainly never will do that with any RWS.. conclusion: PCP is a Gold , RWS is a copper
RWS 48 is indeed very heavy especially with optics; if you don't mind the weight, it is a great airgun for hunting. I use it for wild hogs primarily in Texas. Deadly accurate up to 75 yards. I also own 2 RWS 34 and a 56, all in .22 caliber.
good shooting but I can tell you the Benjamin Marauder is one heck of a gun for the money and there's no break barrel or spring action Barrel they can outshoot that PCP gun I have both and you just cannot be the marauder for the accuracy and the price I think it's probably one of the best shooting PCP guns for the price that you can buy
what happened to the hole in the top left of the target you were showing while doing the video it seems to have disappeared when you display the finished target ??
I wish I had 50 yards! I have no doubt you are correct sir! I'm hoping this summer I can get over to my brothers house and try this again at 50 yards. I'm getting better shooting springers so I'm hoping I can be in the same ball park as the Marauder but 50 yards would be the max for the RWS. Now if the target was moving I probably couldn't hit the broad side of a barn at 50 yards with a springer!
RWS 48, IT'S AN IMPRESSIVE LOOKING PIECE OF JUNK !!! WANT ONE, I HAVE A 22 CAL MAKE ME AN OFFER. When I got it all looked fine, put a target out, got it sighted in, a few shots later the the cocking arm broke also braking the cocking lever at the pin and at the same time. That's when I found out the warranty was completely worthless. Being brand new I ordered the parts and fixed it myself. Same thing happened again. It may be defective, I wanted it replaced but good luck with that. Very serious I have one for sale if anyone wants it.
So you cocked it without pushing in the anti beartrap safety? That''ll break them every time. You didn't read the manual? Abuse isn't covered by warrantee by anyone.
Herb what?? RWS made in Germany are by far superior than an american made air rifle. Just look the quality of the commponents. A springer is more difficult to shoot because the recoil and a PCP easier because don't have the recoil. But if you have a good quality springer like Air Arms TX200 or a RWS (350, 48, 54) with some practice you can shoot equal like a PCP. I prefer spend money in a super quality air rifle like Air Arms or Diana RWS, than a junk like Crosman or Gamo. AIr Arms or Diana make rifles that last for decades, not disposable rifles.
It is loud, but not as loud as a .22 rimfire, but its no problem to shoot your neighbor, it have a lot of power so always think about sightlines and make sure you have a sensible backstop to avoid killing your neighbor.
I have been trying to get to my brothers all summer to shoot 50 plus yards but never made it! Cold weather is really starting to settle in but if I get a chance I will post here. I have to say the Marauder and the RWS 48 are both excellent rifles! I also own a RWS 45 I purchased new in 1988 and still shoots perfectly so I can definitely vouch for anything RWS. No problems with the Marauder either and works real smooth and is solid. Two of my favorite!
Just buy the Diana, if you only had a Hatsan, the T06 trigger on the Diana will blow you away and 30 years from now, when you still shoot your Diana, you will think back on this comment, and go "hell yea".
20 yards isn't really a fair enough distance. Please do the same comparison at say 40/50 yards and let's see which will reign. I had a RWS 48 also that would do what yours did but after 30 yards or more she just didn't keep tight groups.
Here in New Zealand a cop got murdered with a PCP n all excluding spring powered air rifles now require a firearm licence. Will this be OK for home defence??? I know it's a silly question but will it do???
I wouldn't use it for home defence. Too big and heavy to wield around in a tight space and not enough power to drop someone unless you're very, very lucky (or unlucky, depending on your view). As a home defence weapon it's best use would be to point it and scare someone who isn't familiar with guns or try clubbing them with the butt.

In 4.5mm(cal.177) it goes 335 meters per second, thats around 1100 feet per second. But it depends on what kind of pellets you feed it, lighter ones will go faster and thats not recommended, you want to stay below the speed of sound to keep the pellet stable and accurate. Get some around 8,5grains, preferable "H&N Field Target Trophy". You can easily take down crows and magpies at 40 meters with the Diana48, but depending on where you live, it might not be legal, so check local law before you shoot up the neighborhood.
Thanks for answering. I only own a break-barrel (Hatsan 135 0.30 cal) and considering pcp but that ain't a cheap hobby!
