    PJ doesn’t have any room to talk. He was part of the culture here, and was indicative of how players would play here. I remember Doug calling him out all the time about how he would miss like five shots, and then just disappear for the rest of the game. Doug always wanted him to contribute in other ways when his shot wasn’t falling. Pass the ball better. Rebound more. Play better defense. PJ wouldn’t do any of that. He would just disappear into the corner for the rest of the game, and now that he has a winning team and is making shots, he’s wanting to contribute and acting like it was the Hornets franchise that was keeping him down.
    It’s also really frustrating to see people compare him to Grant Williams and think that he is such a better player than Grant when they are the exact same player over their careers, except Grant can shoot a little bit better. They’re both ranked about the same defensively, they both get the same amount of rebounds and assists, but plays with a little bit more fire and shoots better. But now that PJs on a better team, people think PJ is the much better player when he isn’t. He’s just in a better situation.

    Buzelis at the 3 for Charlotte letting Brandon Miller play Shooting Guard would be amazing. Think of Buzelis as a guy who could be a Franz Wagner. Re-sign Miles Bridges and Mark Williams at center could be a great starting 5 for the future. I know Miles is polarizing, but if he keeps his nose clean he has talent.

    Completely agree with Doug. Ofc the things terry Kelly and pj said was true. But what they don’t understand is that they were the culture problem. Terry and pj were never leaders. Never have been. Terry only cares bout getting fresh and we knew the Brittany Renner situation with pj. Hayward terry pj batum YALL was the problem 😂. Our front office org didn’t help but those players didn’t vet our young guys like they should’ve.

    • @Hooderaw
      @Hooderaw 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, they came onto a team that had already well-established culture issues that the ownership and front office were responsible for. You can blame the players if you want but it starts with ownership and front office for the last 20 years since Charlotte got their team back.

    • @Haybud
      @Haybud 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Hooderaw the players have the ability to change the culture the easiest by winning on the floor. PJ was known for giving up in games. He would literally miss his first five shots and then never ask for the ball for the rest of the game. This included him not even trying for rebounds.
      Doug used to say this about PJ all the time. If you’re not shooting the ball well, find other ways to contribute. But he wouldn’t. He wouldn’t start passing the ball better, he wouldn’t start rebounding or playing better defense to affect the game. He would just give up. The fact that people are talking about PJ he’s a big reason that Dallas is going to NBA finals now is completely idiotic. He just hasn’t had any adversity yet.

    • @Hooderaw
      @Hooderaw 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Haybud there is a black cloud hovering over this team regarding the current team culture. It takes more than just players for that change. You need a decent front office and coaching to help change the culture. Right now, the new players come in with no real leadership and start to get use to the established culture and get use to losing. This team needs a leader (I love ball but he's never been a real leader and I have been watching him since high school). Maybe miller could be that leader but that leader needs to be vocal and well respected. But those type of players don't want to play for a perennial losing teams cause they want to try to win championships. You can trade for that player, but then you have to give up your young pieces and/or picks that you are trying to build around. But, by trading for that player you risk getting a player who doesn't want to play there. These players talk to each other and there is a reason Kupchak couldn't sign viable free agents unless he severely overpaid. I hope Jeff is the answer, but I question why the new owners would even consider having the old gm and coach around when they need to rid themselves of bad culture. Right now, it looks like they have several people running things as oppose to 1 (jeff). You got 2 former Charlotte gm's in the fold (Kupchak, MJ), 3 owners in the mix (1 with losing experience and 2 using losing advisors), 1 former coach lurking around which leads to that same black cloud of losing culture hovering above the front office but yet we want to be mad at PJ and Terry for saying what they said out loud which was far from a lie.

      @@Hooderaw You must’ve forgot borrego brought that team to 2 play in series. Meaning we were winning atleast 35 games just only a few years ago. Borrego had structure. Batum never played so terry officially became our “Vet” by default even tho HE originally wanted his own team once leaving Celtics. Pj was a pick that literally surprised everyone and rui should’ve fell to us that year. Pj was picked Way too early but became one of our “vets” by default. What I’m saying is yes our front office has always been terrible but we’ve definitely had more players that have instilled more leadership in the past. Not blaming them for our failures but they were Lowkey always the problem. Hayward PJ Terry we’re always the players that never fit our true identity.
      Isn’t it funny how better we look with them off the team. The contracts the injuries. Finally all over. Those moves alone just changed our culture. Bc now we don’t have these lazy ass “Vets” only playing 50 games combined 😂. There’s a big difference between having a winning culture and purely just having better team chemistry. Even smaller guys such as Bertans mann grant Williams brings so much to our locker room. Why is that? Bc they are from winning cultures that know how to play. Which is what we always needed. Not old ass vets getting their last bag before slowly retiring. Good young vets that still have that hunger. That’s what pj terry Hayward never had, but they all seemed to want much more money on each of their contracts. Foh. Glad new front office has started holding players accountable and making us a serious franchise. Enough with the feelings. No nba team holds on to trash players like us. I’m finally excited for future

    • @Hooderaw
      @Hooderaw 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @wonderkidd2549 play-ins are not playoff games. They literally don't count on the stats. Not to mention the fact that the team came in 10th and 9th at the end of the season and got BLOWN OUT 2 years str8. Regarding terry and Gordon, they were NEVER leaders. Terry only started in Boston when they had backcourt injuries. He was a bench guy up until that point and would have went back to the bench if they did not make the trade. And Gordon was an often injured player who started to come off the bench for Boston cause they had better players who were reliable. Gordon was never a leader. Kupchak got fleeced in that free agent signing. He was never worth that much even when he played for Utah. And PJ was never a leader. Mitch was too busy looking at building a team with the draft but didn't have the culture to help build those players up. It was literally the blind leading the blind. As fans, you guys need to stop blaming the people who are no longer here and concentrate on what needs to be changed, which is what I'm pointing out. PJ is who he is, Gordon is who he is, Terry is who he is, and that is on the front office for expecting to make orange juice out of lemons.

      @Hooderaw 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Or, he got sucked into the losing mentality that this organization never could fix for the last 20 years with only 3 playoff appearances since they got the team back. The Charlotte organization has a bad reputation with the players in this league. He's happy like a dog that has been let out of the basement for 5 years. You can try to blame the players, but after 20 year's you have to point at ownership and the front office. Even now with the new owners taking over they decided to keep Kupchak and Steve Clifford in the fold as advisors which is a bad look. This just shows that Jeff may not be 100% in charge as the old losing regimen has the ears of the new owner cause they don't fully trust jeff. No wonder more established gm's didn't want the job. You can't have a front office by committee.

    • @ignorantenlightenment
      @ignorantenlightenment 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      @@Hooderaw I’m not saying that previous ownership didn’t contribute. But ultimately PJ is a mid tier player he’s not some star that was trapped, he’s still a mid tier player where he is now he’s just surrounded by two all time greats it’s no surprise his current team outlook is better. Leaving and then shitting on your previous team is still wack when you contributed to losing with mediocre inconsistent play

    • @Hooderaw
      @Hooderaw 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @ignorantenlightenment that mid tier player looking much better on the mavs than he did on the hornets. And that seems to be a pattern with the players who leave Charlotte and go to other teams with a better culture. Charlotte has a culture issue, not necessarily a talent issue. 20 years with 3 playoff appearances (no series wins) means they got at least 17 lottery picks and for 3 years right outside the lottery and they still have failed to get better. Even now they got Kupchak and Steve still lurking around the front office with the new gm in place. How do you change the culture when the owners are using these guys as advisors? You literally shrink the available gm and coaching pool by doing this, in my opinion. It starts with the front officer regarding culture change.

    The strategic value of not revealing who we are working out and showing interest in is increased even more in a draft where there is no uniformity in how this draft will go. By not revealing our interest we are preventing other teams from being able to plan around our choice and opening opportunity for draft day trades should we want to.
