I had issues with the glue peeling, and ended up spraying frosted glass spray paint on the inside of the globe. Works great, and won't scrape or peel off as it's on the interior of the glass. Another option.
This is great and I think it has lots of opportunity to plus it up. If it was a prop held by an actor you could easily add a hidden switch and have the flame change color or intensity to match a story.
I have the exact same lantern i use in photoshoots with a godox MF-12 inside and an orange gel cut to fit around the interior. The frosted weathering is just what i've (without realizing until now) been looking for!
8:00 Another related method is using WLED to control the Neopixel with an ESP32 or ESP8266. This lets you control the brightness and color from your phone instead of having to plug into your PC to make changes.
Once my soldering connections are tested, I encapsulate them in hot glue to make them more sturdy. You can use male/female Dupont connectors to get through obstacles.
Love it. We have had great success with sandblasting or etching the glass. Then you don't have to worry about scratching it off. Thanks again for all the great videos. We always look forward to seeing what you come up with next.

Try adding a flame shape made from a small amount of polyfill pillow stuffing. Stick it in the wick slot. It should help reflect more of light outward. Just thought of it while watching the video. I don't actually know if it will help
I can everyone interested in starting programming only suggest to get one of the starter kits from Arduino themselves. They are pricy, but everything you need for the roundabout 20 examples is included in the package. After being done experimenting, you can use the parts in the kit to build your own application. (That's also how I started)
I did something very similar but with a Raspberry Pi Pico Microcontroller for about half the price of the Arduino Nano. I know it's not much but every dollar counts these days especially.
The first limit is the power supply. The second is your ability to code. Neopixels are designed to connected together infinitely (in theory) You can over come the first limit by injecting power every so often. You can add an additional data pin throughout the code for each lantern. Simple but, each lanter will have the same pattern and all data lines and grounds will have to go to the Arduino. The best way to do it is use one data pin and the next lantern's "data in" would connect to the "data out" of the ring before it. Positive and ground would also continue from one to the other. Eventually you will max out the power supply as you add more and more lanterns and the LEDs at the end of the chain will be dimmer. You can add anothe 5v power supply at that point. As for the code, it's a pretty simple change but you need to have a little experience. There are plenty of tutorials on working with neopixles.
