I'm only halfway through the video but whew, that is dedication 😭 I will say, as someone who crochets with yarn and does crochet hairstyles every now and then, I would have recommended leaving that small piece on the latch hook. It makes it easier to pull things through without getting caught, meaning it would've helped with the issue of your yarn separating and getting caught every 2 seconds
This is what I use for 90% of my projects and 98% of my plushies due to availability. I love the premier chenille and it is great after an initial washing once worked up. Thanks for sharing.
@@pieces_of_scrapthe options vary greatly. For over a year I only saw about 4 colors but now they have a bunch of incredible jewel tones as well as pastels. Very much grab them when you see them because they may never return, lol.
You. Are. AMAZING! This idea was so creative but - and to me, most importantly - your patience and commitment to sticking with your plan is FANTABULOUS. Amazing. ☺️🧡
Your makes turned out really cute! Props to you for not giving up…I sure would have. 🤣 The cat was my favorite. 🐈 I wouldn’t want to put you through another challenge like this. I was feelin your pain. But thank you for showing us anything is possible if we put our minds to it. 😊
Your projects turned out so cute! I think keeping the extra metal bit on the hook might have actually helped. When pulling through, the metal bit would close the hook so it woudn't get caught on everything. Really commend you for sticking through it all though!
Thanks!! You're actually the second person today that told me this. I wish there were better instructions on the packaging so I would've been able to figure that out!
Unfortunately...ive fallen in love with the JoAnn Big Twist Posh and the Big Twist acrylic yarn and all the Beautiful colors, ive worked with the Dollar Store chenille yarns for quite some time and it worked well for me! Good job and thanks for your opinions❤
I'm impressed by your creativity ingenuity and persistence. Well done. I would have probably given up with no crochet hook. Last month, our local $Tree got in a huge order of Parfait. The manager (I think he was) hoped that this contract would be better than the last they had with Premier. Part of the deal was to designate a specific space (I think it was about 5 or 6 feet) for the yarns. I got 12 different colors Our $Tree is very sparse on crafty items so maybe your store will get some soon. I like to try new patterns with the Just Chenille. If things work out, then I'll go on to better quality yarn. The egg and the kitty turned out so well. WOW. Great video.
I would be happy if my dollar tree had that much yarn...usually it's none, or one or two skeins of black! I have done better when I go out to a different dollar tree store in a more rural area, but that's a long drive!
When I looked it up online at that store it said "out of stock" but there wasn't an open space for it anywhere. They definitely have had them at my store in the past!
I would have gone to the kitchen area and got a pack of bamboo skewers and a knife then whittled a crochet hook then I would have made an elephant and a mouse from the chenille yarn or a Godzilla from the one pound green skein.
Please look for rug kits in your craft store, and you will see them. The yarn is cut with different colors, and all yarn is the same size. Very easy do make.
Your Dollar Tree chenille looks a lot thicker than what I got there. Mine is more flat and sparse and no form doing what you did. Guess there’s different kinds they’re sending to these Dollar Tree stores. Disappointing. Your items turned out so cute, especially the cat!❤
Possibly if you had went to the cooking section and grabbed a pkg. Of wooden spoons ( assorted sizes) and whittled your self a crochet hook may of been easier than the latch hook...But you dod a good job!😊😊

Oh, I just figured it would've made things worse 😅 good to know!!
I am shocked that you were able to make that adorable cat with dollar tree yarn and some kind of hair hook! Very impressive🥰
Thanks so much 🤗

Thanks for watching! I was impressed with the chenille as well, just wish there was more color options at the store I was at 😅

Thanks so much Lisa 🫶💕
I think i would have given up on that hook😅 Your cat turned out so cute!❤
Thank you!!

Yeah I think I would definitely go to a store that had crochet hooks next time 😂 so probably not this store but I store in a more populated area.
Good on you for sticking with it! They worked up great! ❤
Thanks so much 🫶
That was impressive. Crocheting with that hook would have been too much for me 😄!
Awww thanks so much 🫶

Thanks for watching! I really like Big Twist too. It's a shame JoAnn is going out of business!

Thanks so much for watching! That yarn wall at your dollar tree sounds awesome. What yarns were they displaying??
That Dollar Store Kitty turned out really cute 🥰 Awesome ❤
Maybe another one would be nice to see.
Thank you!!
I thought that the dollar tree amigurumi kits are hard and not for beginners but that hook looks very hard to work with, The cat came out cute.
Yeah, this hook made this challenge very hard 🙃
Wow, your makes came out great. You are so patient to have completed this challenge. The hair hook looks like what is used for latch hook.
Lots of people agree with you about it being a latch hook! I'd never heard of that before.
I applaud your efforts on using that terrible hook. I love the cat with the sweater. I would like to try that one😊.
Thanks!! Yeah the cat came out really cute, definitely try that pattern!!
More power to you for using that funky hook.
It was honestly so frustrating 😅
while I applaud you for finishing it with a make-shift hook, please just use your own next time :) just for your hand's sake
Hahaha thanks 😂
Maybe next time you could do a survival crochet challenge and go into the forest and find everything you need to make a plushie 🌲🌲🌲🌲
😂 I don't know about that
Those turned out cute
I would love to see you do another one of these challenges soon
Thank you!! I will definitely plan to do another one 😊
Maybe I’m lucky, but my dollar tree has crochet hooks for yarn!
Yeah, mine was supposed to have them too! I was just unlucky.
I can’t believe you used that awful needle - amazing results ❤️
Hahaha 😂🫣 thanks so much
The Dollar Tree Premier yarn is from the Premier Yarn Company itself -- the chenille isn't the best but the other Just Yarn, Just Tweed is fine
I didn't see any Just Tweed at this store unfortunately 😶
I would be happy if my dollar tree had that much yarn...usually it's none, or one or two skeins of black! I have done better when I go out to a different dollar tree store in a more rural area, but that's a long drive!
Some dollar trees have even more yarn than this one did. I've seen videos where half of the aisle is yarn. Crazy, right??
That is a latch hook. They are great for rug making
Thanks!
I'm impressed as to how well you did with that "hook". I must say it was painful to watch at the beginning. I would have used my regular hook.
😅 yeah this video probably took 2-3 times as long as a normal video would take because of that silly hook.
Love the puppy conservation. ❤❤❤😊
Thanks 💕🫶
Amazing for a haicrochet hook!😂
Thank you 😂
You should make the kitty a tail he needs one 😁
He sure does 😂
Well done ❤
Thank you 🫶
They turned out great. I wonder if the stock varies between stores as our Dollar Trees in Alberta have crochet hooks in a few sizes.
Unfortunately I have no experience whittling 🫣
That hook you were using is for rug hooking.
That's what everyone is saying! I've never heard of that before.
Please look for rug kits in your craft store, and you will see them. The yarn is cut with different colors, and all yarn is the same size. Very easy do make.

Thanks so much for watching! Yeah I guarantee the quality probably varies with being such a cheap product.
Couldn’t you have used your pliers to squish the end of the hook a little? Would have made it more pointy and easier to go through the yarn?.❤
That's a good idea. I suppose I was worried I would make it worse.
Possibly if you had went to the cooking section and grabbed a pkg. Of wooden spoons ( assorted sizes) and whittled your self a crochet hook may of been easier than the latch hook...But you dod a good job!😊😊
😂😂😂
That's not a crochet hook! It's a latchhook for making rugs.😊
Interesting! The package definitely said it was a hair crochet needle.
No. It's for a specific type of hair extension that is called crochet braids.
It's possible it has multiple uses as well 🤷♀️
I’m sorry but that’s not a crochet hook. It’s a latch hook. It’s used for hair braids or latch hook rugs.
Yes everyone has been mentioning it's a latch hook!
Why didn’t you just use your own hook?
I wanted to stay true to the challenge by only using tools that I could find in the store!
@@pieces_of_scrap and you did a excellent job doing it! I admire your dedication and hard work sticking to the challenge ❤❤
Thanks so much! 🫶💕
