Finally a review by someone trustworthy! This has been on my list for a longtime but always been afraid to bite the bullet, think I will be picking up one of these!
Are you able to set the volume levels for Siri, calls, navigation, etc. independently, much like you can do on the iPhone directly? For instance, on the phone, you can press the volume buttons during a call and that'll change the volume for calls only; do it while Siri's talking, and that'll change Siri's volume; and so on. I'm asking this because I bought a Carpuride YT09 which _replaces_ the car stereo entirely, but lacks any way of setting volumes independently. It does have a general "sound out" volume slider (which isn't even that great, to be honest) but it has no "knowledge" of the various audio streams that CarPlay receives. As a consequence, I was able to increase the volume for navigation because e.g. Waze does have a navigation volume slider, but Siri and calls remain at a very low volume. Pressing the phone's side does nothing, and the volume slider in Control Centre is locked. Apparently, when CarPlay is engaged, the streams are sent out "without a volume" and it's up to the CarPlay receiver to handle them -- which the YT09 doesn't do. Do these newer, separate add-on units work better in that regard?
These versions use Bluetooth, (at least how I connect it) so however your phone would normally interact with a built in car stereo’s Bluetooth is how it’ll work with your cars
@@ChrisWilmshurst So the phone connects to both your car stereo via bluetooth for audio, AND to CarPlay for the "video" part? Can you confirm that if you are in a call and try to change the volume using your phone, it lets you do that? Forgive me for being a pest and a little thick 😀 but I'm coming from a simple Sony stereo that acted pretty much like a simple BT speaker. It had its own volume knob, but I was still able to adjust the phone's streams independently if I wanted though (though I just maxed them out and called it a day, using the knob for the general volume). This one just doesn't do it, as CarPlay completely "takes over" and I can't bring the calls' volume to the same level as the music, for instance.
Responsiveness to touch. Yeah it’s not the fastest response panel, but in terms of touch responsiveness to typing and interacting it’s responsive. Responsive doesnt always equate to a fast refresh rate. I’m talking touch
hi, thank you for the video. Can you let us know if you can use the steering wheel buttons still on this Carpuride? I mean for calling, navigate the carplay, etc. And will the calls be using the Car's microphone still?
With my model of car I can answer and cancel calls, but I cannot control the screen with it. If your steering wheel has a Siri button it should work. When connected through Bluetooth, it uses the cars microphone.

Cheers man, these are pretty affordable considering how much they offer!

Thank you for the update to date review
No problem! Thanks for choosing to watch the video
"Really responsive" but the refresh rate looks like it is 15 fps with lag when loading menus and apps...

ANy issues with auto brightness? Some people say it doesnt work and they have to manually adjust
Not for me no. It’s been left on auto since I’ve had it and I never adjust it.

@@ChrisWilmshurst I appreciate your quick response.
the dashcam is nice
Why doesn’t Netflix work when streaming?
That might be a piracy protection, I’m not sure. I don’t have a Netflix account to check 😅
