its really funny that CA keeps trying to patch this. It seems that while the food mechanic works the way it does you'll always be able to do *some* version of this, and honestly it makes any Ikit campaign a joy so here's hoping they never fully fix it!

"Take a bunch of risks and fight a bunch of battles and maybe things might not work out and you'll get Tier 5 by turn 7, for those that know how", is like... OK, well, that's what you find fun? CA goes overboard with trying to prevent cheesy things for no good reason. Also they don't do a good job of it either. All they had to do to prevent this is prevent Skaven races from abandoning and preventing trading with factions that you don't have a military or defensive alliance with. Now we know why the AI has anti-player bias. It inherited from it's creator.
This holds up as a very good guide. Due to some lucky army movements and the rites bug, I finished this on turn 6 first try. Thanks for all the good videos mate!
fwiw, worked fine for me today in WH3 - on turn 6, even! 120 food to make it level 5. anecdotal notes from my game, following your overall plan on VH/VH (battle slider reduced to neutral - i like smarter tactics, not number go up): - Morghur pinballed around to nuke the south side of the province on the early turns - for me he showed up on T4 raiding outside of Montenas to the northwest - if ambush fails, you can still beat him - Menace Below behind Morghur while he stands in formation will make him waste his Chaos Spawn summon, and probably make him reorganize his line - look for good nuke opportunities (waste a unit of Centigors, ideally) - he'll usually let you walk up to him and Brass Orb + Warp Lightning something - if you've nuked him and he didn't advance, the damage from that will usually be enough to get him to move - as long as you don't waste your time shooting at Morghur's 75%+ missile res and don't get a completely unusable map, you can take him on and just waste him via army losses - use the hills, snipe down chariots + chaos spawn ASAP and enjoy a very silly Heroic Victory, then run him down again for M O R E F O O D - i had a stack sitting in Bilbali, so i took the siege - this *absolutely sucked* to do, cost every bit of ammo i had, and involved a lot of cheesy 'ikit alone at the gates' and 'slingers shooting over walls at units walking around for no reason', but it worked out. could probably do better than i did on this with some smarter play elsewhere
I was adamant at doing this on hard battle difficulty and everything was fine except morghur himself, it’s definitely possible to wipe the floor with him too but I tried for so many hours but every time one tiny mistake would happen and morghur would finally crash into my units and pretty much wiped them out himself. Eventually I succumbed and just put the difficulty down, but I know one day I’ll be able to pull it off
@@crogsmash1611 Using the nuke on him helps, but it’s a bit hard to do it well because most of his units are invisible so you can’t group them up easily until they’re too close
To anybody wondering why its not working // having trouble doing it on legendary and very hard: for me, what works consistently is fighting both tobaro and montenas manually, tobaro is, admittedly, a personal preference on montenas though, your battle will start on a sort-of-siege area with two entries, the right one is smaller and has some ambushers ready, so you can send ikit and all of your ratling/warplock jezzails there and create a kind of killzone on the left, you can close that side with clanrats and pepperspray anything that comes remotely close with the skaven slingers if all goes according to plan, you'll have at MOST 40 clanrats dying and a bit of health sliced off of ikit and the hero engineer That should be enough *WITH THE GARRISON* to autowin against morghur granted, some people probably know how to win manually against him too, but i freaking dont so here you go.
Saw this video and tried this. Got it on turn 7 while, admittedly, screwing up some of the setup and my ambush being on Morghur. So it seems that so long as you follow the basics of this guide you'll get it. Thanks for this guide Battlesey, it's going to make Skaven a lot more fun for me.
Ehi mate, just a tip if you want to do everything in very hard. Both you and Morghur fight Magritta. In very hard morghur lose many units fighting Estalia, still strong as fuck, buuut.. If you use underway to get close to the bridge on Magritta instead of Montenas.. Morghur will attack the city hoping for your help, you refuse and he will lose the fight. After that its all easier. Its better if you don't auto resolve but in the wrost case scenario it takes you 2 turns more. I do that in every ikit run, and always worked. Edit: i just saw that this video its more then 1 year old, a lot changed so its normal that my metod its different. I play very hard but with AI bonus turned off. Hope this can help anyone, ciao!
I tried doing this tactic after being constantly boxed in at the start by not knowing what to do. Not only did the beastmen immediately beeline for the neutral capital, they lost. On top of losing, they lost again and lost to another settlement that wasn't past tier 1. As soon as I took the beast stone, they stopped existing. I thought it was funny so I wanted to share it lol.
So this method still works, but (yes there's a but), I can't get Morghur to do what he does in this video (could be campaign difficulty, battle difficulty and stat modifier related tho). So as I'm playing on Legendary/Very Hard/Maxed Stat Modifiers I've had to adapt (and you will likely as well). T1. Same as in the video: - Capture Tobaro with Ikit and recruit 3x Slingers with Ikit - Recruit a new Warlock Master lord and recruit 3 Clan Rat spears. - Set Skavenblight Province to Expansionist Planning and build a Ratling Warrens T2. - Move Ikit to just beyond the road, recruit 3 more slingers. - Merge your new Lord's army into Ikits - Declare war on Morghur (important otherwise Morghur will destroy Magritta) T3. - Attack Magritta with Ikit - use a nuke to win it if necessary (Morghur should have just sacked it or similar) then loot and occupy at lvl 1 - Raid with your other lord. T4. - Attack Morghur's settlement, Morghur is likely in a camp nearby, take the settlement. T5. - Morghur is now in a panic and should not have moved from his encampment, use your encampment and walk over his encampment and finish him off. T6. - Take Bilbao - Abandon Skavenblight T7. - Recapture Skavenblight - Move towards the rebellion at Magritta with Ikit At this point Aranessa is likely starting to get a tad too interested in you, so start building up a secondary army in Skavenblight (she won't try anything against Skavenblight with an army there, the towers alone will rekt her).
I'm incredibly new to Warhammer and just booted up my first Ikit Campaign. Got this to work by turn 8, although I have no idea what buildings to prioritize now lmao. Great guide tho

Pretty new to the game, watched husband play for years and finally dared to try a while ago, so I just did my 1st campaign ever on WH2 (with lots of help and teaching) shortly before WH3 launched; so this is my first campaign in WH3, of course Skaven again - thanks for this video, I really managed to get my tier V Skavenblight, husband helped with the battles that of course went different for us than for you (had to manually fight some to make it), but had 125 food in turn 7. One question though, is there a reason you don't sack before you loot and occupy? As mentioned, pretty new and that's how it was shown to me in WH2 so just wondering if it's just preference or if there's a reason :-) Thanks
They changed the way sacking works for XP / Food in Warhammer 3 so I just occupied it to maximize replenishment. Also that's awesome! Hope you enjoy Warhammer 3.
Some of the settlements weren't within range to both sac and occupy. I have made some mistakes on gauging movement range after a battle. It costs you time. Wishing you and your husband/family the best.
Unfortunately this doesn't seem to work for me. Everytime I try on turn 5 Morgur will come back for his settlement, which can be won in an auto-resolve, but in the same turn Estalia also attacks you after him, which is pretty difficult to beat after your army has been crippled by the previous fight. I've tried to fight out Morgur manually, but his 75% missile resistance is absurd
@@saintpres4ge533 yeah I've tried but I guess I'm not good enough at playing the AI. feels like it has to be done perfectly since it's 2 20 stacks in quick succession
@@Battleseyttv No unfortunately since Estalia attacks me in the same "round" that Morghur does. His turn is after Morghur, so before it gets back to my turn Estalia always attacks.
@@Sgtcrispytoast I had the same issue (playing on Hard Campaign Difficulty; might have something to do with it), but I was able to get around this by stepping Ikit outside of Montenas. For whatever reason, this caused Morghur to proceed with his attack on Nuja.
Relying on easy battle difficulty is really strange. even just on normal battle difficulty, this isn't even close to possible because Morghur is such a beast.
Did it recently gotta save the nuke you start with for that battle. Honestly I still just barely won but it is doable on very hard battle difficulty. I’ll probably just set it to easy next time I play unit claw though just to get this initial part done quickly
Would be a lot harder to pull off without exploiting the easy difficulty AR. That Morghur fight would have been nasty in your regular campaign setting right ?
best thing is you don't need to finish it turn 7......Turn 7 is just optimistic even if you do so bad and finish it turn 15 it still a lot faster than other race
can confirm this still works, just need to fight as much as you can to get to 120 food, may be a couple turns more than 7, but still extremely easy to do
Hey, is there a reason you destroyed the buildings - and - then clicked abandon? Wouldn't it have the same effect? What is the benefit from destroying your buildings as well?
Destroying buildings gives back a portion of gold spent on them. Due to how the game works, and for best practice, you have to destroy the buildings before you abandon or you won't get the refund
@@taco_annihilator actually wrong. Thats what it used to do in WH II, but now it actually COSTS you to demolish a building. Look at the end screen and add the ncome - it would be above 15000, but next turn his treasury was below 15000.
@@taco_annihilator I've just completed a Legendary difficulty Dawi campaign with Grombrindle, and every time I destroy a building the tooltip says "Will cost X gold". So it appears that either the tooltip is wrong or you're wrong. I remember in WH2 buildings GIVING back money when you demolished them. Are you sure that is what is happening in WH3?

Ok I managed to cheeze this around turn 7 or 8, was a bit unlucky with food, the fight at Montenas was grueling, at the end I didn't have enough firepwoer to take out Morghul so I kited him arondd the map while my unist took the victory points.
Morghur takes no casualties in the siege and his herdstone gives me phyrric victory with 3 units lost, so this does not seem to work like shown no more
im new to the game and i really dont understand why if i walk up without the warlock engineer it says phyrric victory and with it its a close victory where i lose 3 units instead of just 1. im on a lower difficulty compared to very hard in your video and you didnt lose any? i dont understand

I would've got the Cunning lord over the Perceptive one. Am I wrong? Seems like 25% ambush is way better than whatever few points of stat boost perceptive gives, campaign sight I think? Who would want that over ambush chance?
Wow nice. I did it at turn 8 when game first came out but I went east and took everything the pirates had. I had to use 2 nukes on the lady pirate but it was worth it.
Hey! If you hover your mouse over you buildings, you can demolish them for money. If you hover your mouse over your capital/main building there is an option to abandon settlement, and next turn it will be ruins.
should be the same, occupy a bunch of tier 1 settlements till u get enough food capacity and get 120 food by fighting battles or using loyalty cheese to farm rebels+xp and then colonize at tier 5, if you want you can abandon the tier 1 settlements later to colonize them at max lvl too.
Finally booted up an Ikit Campaign, just wondering what your strat is once you've got Skavenblight at Tier 5? Won't it take ages to grow the extra settlements from Tier 1 this way?
Worst case scenario you could just abandon the tier 1 settlements and re colonize them once you have more food. Or just use growth for the minor settlements and recolonize the province Capitols. There's plenty of ways to deal with t1 settlements. Tier 5 skavenblight is way too valuable
Is it me whos missing a step or did they patch this so you cant tir 5 it any more? i cant get the 120 food since the cap is 115 and i can't find any where i can upgrade storage?
I dont know what I'm doing, I'm trying to auto the same fight but I just lose most of my army. Is the difference between easy and normal that significant? (I'm trying this for multiplayer cheese)
@@Battleseyttv I took a manual fight and their leader kept regenerating, he basically emptied all my ammo and clan rats can't do much to him at that point. :(
@@Battleseyttv I've tried a few times, first as you did (works perfectly thanks for the soluce !), then in VH / VH, works fine just need a bit more "effort" (manual battles), and since, I tried it in legendary and i haven't fond the solution yet. In my experience, i'm able to take Morghur's settlement by turn 5/6 , getting Magritta before and occupy it. Do you think, if i delayed the attack on the settlement for 1 turn, meaning that morghur is the one attacking, i'll actually get the pretty easy linear map ?
@@Battleseyttv Well, that's not true. You can do this on legendary/vh no problem. In fact, you come out stronger as you don't entirely rekt your army with auto-resolve. Keep your nuke for Magritta or Nuja. If you _really_ need it, nuke his army --> win.

Turn 1 make sure to set your commandment to expansionist. Not mentioned.
I think they changed the garrison of Morghurs village that its just a pyrrhic victory on autoresolve.

Most definitely, the easy battles feels almost necessary if you wanna properly cheese it.
Not even remotely possible on hard.
The terrain on the Morghur fight is impossible to win in with starting template.
best thing is you don't need to finish it turn 7......Turn 7 is just optimistic
even if you do so bad and finish it turn 15 it still a lot faster than other race
But you can easily have another 2 settlements at tier 5 by turn 15 if you leave Skavenblight alone.

With a bit more cheese T5 is possible on Turn4 and even Turn3 maybe even Turn2 but you have to exploit the cheese out of the game :P
Hey, is there a reason you destroyed the buildings - and - then clicked abandon? Wouldn't it have the same effect? What is the benefit from destroying your buildings as well?
Destroying buildings gives back a portion of gold spent on them. Due to how the game works, and for best practice, you have to destroy the buildings before you abandon or you won't get the refund
@@taco_annihilator actually wrong. Thats what it used to do in WH II, but now it actually COSTS you to demolish a building. Look at the end screen and add the ncome - it would be above 15000, but next turn his treasury was below 15000.
@@taco_annihilator I've just completed a Legendary difficulty Dawi campaign with Grombrindle, and every time I destroy a building the tooltip says "Will cost X gold".
So it appears that either the tooltip is wrong or you're wrong.
I remember in WH2 buildings GIVING back money when you demolished them. Are you sure that is what is happening in WH3?

Ok I managed to cheeze this around turn 7 or 8, was a bit unlucky with food, the fight at Montenas was grueling, at the end I didn't have enough firepwoer to take out Morghul so I kited him arondd the map while my unist took the victory points.
Hell yeah, brother.
Morghur takes no casualties in the siege and his herdstone gives me phyrric victory with 3 units lost, so this does not seem to work like shown no more

im new to the game and i really dont understand why if i walk up without the warlock engineer it says phyrric victory and with it its a close victory where i lose 3 units instead of just 1. im on a lower difficulty compared to very hard in your video and you didnt lose any? i dont understand

I would've got the Cunning lord over the Perceptive one. Am I wrong? Seems like 25% ambush is way better than whatever few points of stat boost perceptive gives, campaign sight I think? Who would want that over ambush chance?

It took me til turn 8 but I can confirm, i had more food and income as well. you need 20 units to close win for Magritta so just rem or did for me.
Wow nice. I did it at turn 8 when game first came out but I went east and took everything the pirates had. I had to use 2 nukes on the lady pirate but it was worth it.
i just seige that provincial capital until she turns up to help, then sit back and let the garrison merc her, then march on sartosa..
How did you turn Skavenblight into ruins though? It's your city then turns change and it's ruins, I can't figure it out..
Hey! If you hover your mouse over you buildings, you can demolish them for money. If you hover your mouse over your capital/main building there is an option to abandon settlement, and next turn it will be ruins.

Any advice for dealing with the beastman on very hard battle difficulty?
You could easily deal with it if you delayed the attack but as is, you'll just get overwhelmed especially with the battle maps you have to fight.

Turn after i took over Montenas i was attacked by Morghur and Lupio back to back and Ikit died.
Has something since changed ive tried different times watching different videos and i keep getting screwed constantly.
Can you make one for Clan Moulder? I like to play them but there is so much RNG so a T4 or T5 starting settlement would help deal with bad RNG.
should be the same, occupy a bunch of tier 1 settlements till u get enough food capacity and get 120 food by fighting battles or using loyalty cheese to farm rebels+xp and then colonize at tier 5, if you want you can abandon the tier 1 settlements later to colonize them at max lvl too.
Finally booted up an Ikit Campaign, just wondering what your strat is once you've got Skavenblight at Tier 5? Won't it take ages to grow the extra settlements from Tier 1 this way?
You can build all your armies from skavenblight, and eventually you can expand to build other tier 5s.
Worst case scenario you could just abandon the tier 1 settlements and re colonize them once you have more food. Or just use growth for the minor settlements and recolonize the province Capitols. There's plenty of ways to deal with t1 settlements. Tier 5 skavenblight is way too valuable

You did not capture all the settlements as shown in the video. Holding a settlement gives +5 food capacity.
I gues does take more turns to kill Morghur because you lost many troops on the way and he is to powerfull at the start

The point is to wipe the beastmen out in one, or as seen in the video, two fell swoops.

It is yes :( they've got massive jumps inbetween each other.

@@Battleseyttv I've tried a few times, first as you did (works perfectly thanks for the soluce !), then in VH / VH, works fine just need a bit more "effort" (manual battles), and since, I tried it in legendary and i haven't fond the solution yet. In my experience, i'm able to take Morghur's settlement by turn 5/6 , getting Magritta before and occupy it.
Do you think, if i delayed the attack on the settlement for 1 turn, meaning that morghur is the one attacking, i'll actually get the pretty easy linear map ?

You can do this on legendary/vh no problem. In fact, you come out stronger as you don't entirely rekt your army with auto-resolve. Keep your nuke for Magritta or Nuja. If you _really_ need it, nuke his army --> win.

i remember skaven blight has more slots for buildings and 2 special landmarks

It works even better in warhammer2, as you don't have to worry about the beastmen ruining it for you :)

Do you have another settlement? You need at least one other. Another thing is the beastmen stopping you, that's all I can think of without more info.

That's a mod, not vanilla. Vanilla does not lose you food by abandoning. It would say if there was a cost associated.
