      I just wonder why you think trimester makes things more consistent for part time students.
      I’ve been analysing your statement and wonder what you mean by that. Because I feel trimester is quick and intense so it’s hard to pick more than one subject due to many readings etc. To my knowledge semester is longer and slower so I can pick 2 units. It’s easier to be on top of it. Therefore picking 2 subjects per semester will finish the degree quicker as opposed to picking 1 subjects per trimester. And yes I was great marks. But I wish someone could guide me if I’m wrong or right or why trimester make study more consistent ? Again I don’t want to pick a lot Bcz I want good marks. I wonder if you mean 2 units per semester for part time students is a lot ! And no - I got no family . Just pets

    Thank you so much, I can't even describe how much I am grateful for your teaching. I am starting law school next year at the age of 40. I was more than happy to accept the offer then started being terrified as English is my second language and I am way too old to catch up with the new trend of education. I watched your video over and over, taking notes, and learned so much about how to plan my study! I am so excited to start studying now and will try your study method by studying your lectures so I can get used to it before I start my course next year. Great video Anthony - thank you. I was just admitted to a Juris Doctor (I was very lucky to get a Commonwealth supported place - I wouldn't be able to afford it otherwise) at one of the Go8 universities that seems to have a good balance of theory/practical/social as you speak of them. While I get your dislike of the name of the JD, it was the most practical choice for me as someone who has a couple of degrees already and will be studying part-time (they offer night classes for all of their core courses). I start in Feb, so I'll be working my way through as many videos of yours as I can before then!

      Hi Shaun, congratulations for taking your first step on the road towards the profession! Don't mind me grumping about the name of the JD. Thank you for this remarkably helpful video! I am watching it for the second time, taking notes (good practice) and pausing to follow up on your recommendations.
    I thought you or others watching might like to know to the Australian Government Style Manual is now an online database and free.
    I also wanted to ask which particular Oxford Writing Guide you recommend (I live remotely and accessing a library is difficult, but I only want to buy it once) as entering that term came up with four different ones on Booktopia.
    Finally, is there a particularly good introduction to logic that you would recommend?
    I plan to commence study for a JD in 2022 and I am spending my free time this year preparing, I think your lectures will give me a good start and enough confidence to cope with remote learning as my previous learning was done on campus at Melbourne Uni in the early 2000s, therefore very much "Old School!"

    Ok I got questions ! If u r employed fulltime and mature student and want to study part time - is it better to go with the uni that offers trimester and pick one subject per trimester or go with the uni that offers semester but do 2 units per semester ?
    Next question is that can I study in QLD but do PLT in nsw and work in nsw?
    Is it okay if I do my degree online ?

    • @AnthsLawSchool
      @AnthsLawSchool  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi! Personally I think for part timers, trimester programs are always going to be more advantageous than semester programs, as you can study consistently. I would start with one subject per Trimester, then you can easily lift to two once you are comfortable studying, depending of course on your experience, the nature of your work/family/life demands, and the grades you are chasing.
      Online study can be very effective if done well. My experience is that very few universities, and VERY few lecturers, do it well. Online teaching is much, much more work than F2F teaching, and requires a different skill set. Make the uni PROVE to you that they have an online program that meets your needs.
      Best of luck!

    • @AnthsLawSchool

      Hi there. I don't know very much about dyslexia I'm afraid, but there is no getting around the fact that law study will involve a lot of reading (as will actual legal practice). So I would be working on strategies to deal with that. Spelling and grammar you can definitely work on though. I strongly recommend the Oxford Writing Guide as a place to start, but there are also some great grammar websites online. Best of luck!

    Hi Anthony,
    I’ve recently started a JD and have been very overwhelmed. As an educator I am shocked at the little prep they have for JD students and the introduction course is not enough. The change in style in writing and thinking is significant enough to have its own subject in many cases. All I kept think was that would make the job of reading student work a lot more enjoyable for the lecturers. I was unhappy with my performance but I know next term will be different. I learnt the hard way and wish I’d come across this vid, but watching this vid has made me more excited about next term. Thank you so much for your videos they have been such a treasure and you are an incredible educator and I’m grateful to have at least access to you online. 😊
