    Thank you so much for the repair I really appreciate it. I’m a novice to all this so I’m glad to have someone who knows what’s up take a look at it.

      Thanks for sending it along. I'm glad it wasn't something serious and I could get you back to playing quickly.

    Great video. I see this way too often when I pick up games that are sold as "not working" and the issue was due to a poor battery replacement job.

    Sometimes easy to fix but hard to find. Good job 😊

      Looking at it with the naked eye I don't think you'd see that pesky short. It was pretty obvious when I looked at it under the microscope. Thanks for watching and being a subscriber!

    It's funny how something so small can cause such a relatively big problem

      For real. Couldn't even see that solder ball with your naked eye.

    Would you ever consider posting links to equipment you use for these repairs? Also do you have any kind of specialized training in this or work in this field (electronics repair)? I’m interested to learn and possibly find a job doing this type of stuff for other applications as well. You definitely have a lot of technical knowledge.

      Thank you, I appreciate it. No specialized training. I have a passion for technical hobbies and I find myself engrossed in them. My advice to you would be working on stuff you find interesting. It’s risky but be patient with it. If you’re not skilled enough to pull off a repair shelf it for a while until you build your skill level up.

    I have the same issue from my first attempt of soldering a good while ago frustrating isn't the word 😂

      It’s a common thing, unfortunately. Just repaired another one that was much more complicated.

    Which camera microsope do you use!? the picture is super clean!

    • @imod.systems
      @imod.systems  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The microscope is the Amscope SM-4NTP using a .7x Barlow lens. I have a Hayear 48mp 1080p camera hooked up to it using a .5x Barlow lens with a c to cs adapter. That’s feeding into a capture card.

    My emerald is the same, except I’m pretty sure the sram chip needs to be replaced because it’s missing pins, would I need a donor or where can I get a replacement?

    • @imod.systems
      @imod.systems  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you’re missing pins on the eeprom (Emerald doesn’t use SRAM) there’s most likely PCB damage too. You’re probably looking at doing a ROM swap with a donor board, check out my Shiny Emerald video. You can swap to a Japanese version of RSE if you don’t want to put it on an aftermarket PCB.
      If this is something you’re interested in, send me an email. My contact info is in my channel description.

    wait, how come there was no dead battery message before the save select screen even though the battery was removed? does it only show if there is a battery installed that is dead?

    • @imod.systems
      @imod.systems  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You’re totally right, I didn’t catch that. I just hooked the game up to my GBXCart and the clock is ticking properly. I installed a battery off camera but when I tested it in the video there was obviously no battery there.

      @@imod.systems And the save still loaded too, interesting

    I have the exact same problem! I get the Nintendo logo, and then it locks on white.
    That being said, I also accidentally installed the battery backwards. Will that blow any of the fuses?

    • @imod.systems
      @imod.systems  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nope, installing the battery backwards won’t damage anything. You’ll just get the battery dry message still.

      Thank for the input! If I am unable to find a short on the chip, would I be able to get your contact information? I don't see your email in the description

    Huh so weird. How do u think that CPU short spawned? Unless it was worked on before by somebody.

    • @imod.systems
      @imod.systems  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      My guess is that it got some solder splash when the owner removed the battery.
