Absolutely miss John, miss being able to tune in on my way home from work and listen to the angry death metal followed by jungle followed by punk followed by blues with that fantastic voice in between - you were always guaranteed to hear something good, something new, something interesting. Nobody has or ever will come close.
Thank you so much for posting this,I have never seen it before,its made me quite sad in a strange sort of way because I still find it hard to think that John isnt around anymore,its difficult to think of a man who has touched so may peoples lives in the way that John Peel has done, he is irreplacable.
I remember listening to him back in the 80ies a lot on BFBS in Germany. What an eye-opener! I cannot recall how often I wished to find DJs like him who play all kinds of Music as long as it is good. Please, how boring is the very idea of a DJ playing one style only the whole night... miss you Mr. Peel!
I am not really into the idea of cloning people but John Peel may be the only person who could be subject to that kind of experiment! he 's so unique!what a voice! what a career! absolute respect!
Genuine to everyone. You could phone Radio 1 when his show was on (as I did in the late 1980s) and he would answer and happily chat to you (if a song was being played at the time). The same cannot be said for Andy Kershaw who would just pick up and hang up!
r.i.p mr peel, utter legend. to whoever rote the nick drake comment, your rite, that is one show i wish someone had taped! i know we have a few minutes of it, but such a shame the interview, if there was one never survived. and to those who hate john peel, sit down with a cup of hot tea and either pour it slowly over yourself or just drink it slowly and think of what a waste of space you are
26 going with 14 year old girls ,, thats the one thing that sticks in my mind ,, jonathan king ,, gary glitter , john peel ,, baby sitter anyone ,,,, hell no
I can't believe how every goddamn video linked to something musical has the most retarded comments;...so much hate and fucking flatout stupid comments. Now I think I know why. Everyone 'loves' music..but not everyone can accept that their opinion is JUST AN OPINION... My opinion: John Peel is awesome
Rape means using force to have sex against another persons will, adultery is a completely different morality and certainly not a reason to call someone a paedophile
who made you judge and jury, abusing is a misleading and wrongful word for consensual sex. Im not condoning underage sex and have 3 young kids of my own but John Peels conscience about taking part in a consensual act it with teenage girls is totally different to praying on young children and raping or abusing them in a very sick and predatory manor. I hope his wife and children dont have to hear such malevolent accusations. Have you read his autobiography finished by his wife after his death
go read his book , that is assuming you can read by your very silly comments. Writing what you did , you obviously never listened to any of his show or know how he was respected by many people from many genre's of music, most of it NOT mainstream.
I miss him sooo much.
i nearly cry when i think about it.
R.I.P you will be missed.
I love his naturally comic delivery. The use of the word "bollocks" is pure class.
Shame he's not around any more.
Missed more than ever, John. Bless ya for the education you gave me!
I could listen to John Peel talk about music all day! Good Stuff.
My hero, I still miss him like mad - great to find a new clip and to hear that wonderful voice once more
I'll never forget this great voice who told me what music means! Thanks, John!
John, you have my deepest respect. Thanks for what you did!
i love his voice, r.i.p John, i still listen to recordings of the perfumed garden..
This is terrific stuff. I shall play some Captain Beefheart records in your memory John.
Met John at a gig at Reading Uni sometime in the early eighties..he was as articulate and funny as you see him here. Very sad day when he went...

HALF MAN HALF BISCUIT
John Peel is single-handedly the greatest gain and loss the music world ever had, irreplaceable.
I am not really into the idea of cloning people but John Peel may be the only person who could be subject to that kind of experiment! he 's so unique!what a voice! what a career! absolute respect!

The Bury St Edmunds Scene!! hahah fantastic! (actually nearly up Bury St Edmunds when i missed the junction for norwich a couple of weeks ago)
Its a shame the rest of this cannot be seen as the website hosting them requires Flash which is obsolete now really.
brilliant man,who DID shape music . very much missed.
Terrific guy. A true role model as far as I'm concerned.
The icon of my youth. Smart guy.
english people shall to feel pride,i mean id' wish someone like he sound's in my radio
@askl23
This was recorded at his home, 'Peel Acres', near Stowmarket, in the East of England.
he is awsome 10000000000000000000/10
It appears his favourite song "Teenage Kicks" was chosen for something more than just it`s musical value.
65 is no age at all to die. He'd only be 73 now. Could have still been presenting a radio show.
A lot of insightful comments here
if he was still with use to day he would say i give up. with the music today bless him " john peel"
At last! Someone with a brain. So refreshing to hear someone make the valid point that has escaped all the morons out there.
John Peel was radio at its best. All others pale in comparrison
@doherty366 Is someone putting down a dog in the next room? What kind of place is BBC Radio?!
The man was a God!
He never followed fashions or fads like the NME or XFM, he started them if anything.
@balearicsoundwave89 I agree !!
We miss you matey, even now!
Probably, yes.
JP pure muso!

Forgive my ignorance, but, someone can explain me who is John Peel ?
who made you judge and jury, abusing is a misleading and wrongful word for consensual sex. You could also apply that theory to Jonathan King. Because he's a homosexual make things any different? I don't think so.
I wasn't back then. The sex change came later.

Part of what ruined society as well.
@WillieTheLisp
> single-handedly turned hundreds of no-talent nobodies into millionaires OVERNIGHT
You must not like good music.
Sorry to hear that.
