I saw him at a mall in Santa Monica right after he left the Lakers. The crazy thing is that I was there with my basketball team for a tournament. And I was coincidentally wearing his black #91 Bulls Jersey. My teammates ran over to tell me he was in the mall. I went over to him and talked to him for about 35 minutes. My teammates were too scared to approach him. He was cool as hell, so I didn't mind getting as much time as I did with him. I still have that jersey signed and framed.
I remember watching this broadcast live as a 5 year young Laker fanatic. I felt such an aura whenever I thought about Jordan, Pippen, and Rodman at the time, so seeing Dennis in purple and gold almost made my brain explode, lol.
I was so happy and fired up for Dennis! I've been a Chicago bulls fan since 1991 ( still am ) and I was going, yea guys, that's our boy! ( nothing racial meant by that statement) I just wish they stuck with him!
It's sad they waived him after 99. As we all know the Lakers hired Phil Jackson the next year and would three-peat. Rodman could've won more rings and further etched his name in history. He easily would've been one of the greatest Lakers too.
