Yesterday, went to a Ford dealer about a 2010 Fusion as I'm looking to replace my 2002 Honda Accord EX. Really like the new, German styling of the 2010 version versus all prior year's. My fusion did the same thing. It’s the throttle i took it to my local ford dealership and they fixed it for free because its a recall on all Ford Fusions.
I know I'm late to the party here, but I have a 2010 Ford fusion and the electrical system went completely nuts about 4 months ago. the car started idling high. a week later an ignition coil caused a misfire, so I replaced it. Then a few days after that the automatic transmission wouldn't shift in to drive when I was at a stop light until I put the gas all the way to the floor, then suddenly it would slam in to gear. long story short. the transmission was replaced, but the idling issue remained. come to find out the source of my whole issue was the mass air flow sensor. it was sending faulty signals to my powertrain control module which caused my transmission to have no idea when to shift. cars are just way too complicated these days.
C.J. Price Hows the fusion running these days? How expensive was the transmission replacement? Im just about to buy a 2010 FF hybrid so I am doing my research.
We have a 2010 Ford Fusion SE 4 cyl. We are the original owners bought new in Oct. 2009. The car has about 26,500. We received one recall for the transmission in June, 2010. Took to the dealer for a computer chip reprogram. Last month it started to seem like the trans was starting to slip badly. Then this (exactly what is happening in the video). We took it to the dealer, it's still at the dealer. We have had the car back for only about a day and a half in the last month. We get it back and it
Mine did this in reverse it if tap the gas and it would red line and go nowhere. In drive it would go but clunk and jerk. I had the entire transmission replaced under warranty. It's been 2 weeks now and still don't have the car because the transmission needs reprogramming. Has anyone ever heard of a transmission needing reprogramming?
My answer may come late but I will share my opinion hoping that it helps somebody out there. I think the problem may be related to a leak on the driver side axle shaft; Indeed, inside the the case, is a ring called inner axle bearing that wears out against the axle itself leading to fluid leaking like water leaking from a faucet; even the axle seal can not stop this leak. If not caught on time, it is more likely that the transmission will go out. Note: manufacturing problem but they never recalled it. I found that out on youtube.
07 CBR1000RR My fusion was doing this and I had the transmission replaced. Also the cv axle repaired, but my car still chugs and slams. I don't know what else to do.
bough a used 2010 Fusion last year for cheap from company I work. a few months ago it started doing this and a few weeks later the reverse went out. my mechanic said that Ford sudan transmissions from 2006-2012 are pure garbage and he has seen many come in. $3,500 to replace . Ford knew they were garbage and offered a "customer satisfaction fix" instead of a recall and it was only good until 2011.
I have a question. I have a 2010 ford fusion S 2.5L, transmission was acting funny yesterday. Put the tester on it and it came back saying Solenoid B stuck off.. I have the little wrench light on my dashboard too. Is there a part number for this? Called ford and they say they need more info in order to order what I need. the say they don't list parts by solenoid A,B C etc. BS, he knew what i was talking about, just being an ass
A: your transmissions blown, B: you don't floor it that way what so ever and C:. I heard you say it was re-possessed so you should've asked for its history, it's pre-owner very likely abused it!!
This is actually a common problem in most ford fusion due to the split case transmission and the filter being practically not serviceable. That being said the fusion uses mercron LV a lighter thinner transmission fluid and requires you to change (flush it) every 30,000 miles- A big pain in the ass... supposedly you can tune up the transmission by having someone tweak it with a computer.
@@Davido50 actually look up any ford fusion forum this is a big issue at least with the 2010 ford fusion. Transmission is just junk off the lot especially being that you have to drop the whole thing to service a filter- by that time most people just swap it with a better transmission. Great video maybe people should do some research before dropping a comment speaking for everybody!
They told me they were going to send it out to a transmission shop and that my warrenty should cover it. It would slip out of gear and get hung up, and sometimes on quite acceleration at highway speed it would "hang' for a few seconds, i would often feel vibrations through the accelerator pedal, and would vibrate on occasion when i put it in reverse or drive gears, and feel pulsations and waves of vibrations in park.
Bad transmission. I had that happen in my 500. Throw it in neutral till you feel it’s in gear and put back in gear. It’s loosing it’s spot in the gears. It’s an expensive fix but once it’s fixed it drives amazing.
Funny I have a 2011 ford fusion sel FWD 3.0 L v6 with a 6 speed auto. Seem to have slow acceleration from 1st to 2nd but it cluncks a little bit when it shifts to 2nd gear. Also noticed that when turning it seems to jerk really hard from 1st to 2nd anyone els have this issue and figured out their problem?
had the issue sometimes but i never had anything go wrong with the car after owning it for a few months. i would have some jerking going up gears and sometimes down the car would jerk but i never thought anything of it. found out my car ran bone dry on some transmission fluid and i started to get this issue. car wont drive but after restarting it sometimes it will drive and kick into gear especially after leaving it off for a night. currently dealing with this issue now and pray it is just a fluid issue and not a blown transmission.
You know, I don't know if this will help, but check out the mounts/lifters, we have the same problem on our 99 odyssey, it does the same exact thing, when you shift it into gear it chugs, and when you start accelerating it does that, and it slips between gears (feels like you got it in neutral).
They rebuilt my transmission on my 2010 fusion and it still slips, delayed shifts, hits rev-limiter when i accelerate hard and fast, slams into gear hard and feel to whole car jolt, and from time to time feel vibrations when tranny is in drive and/or reverse, and vibration on acceleration.
my ford fusion slips just a little bit which after a while, the whole engine shakes and I've got to pull over and turn the car off for 10-15 seconds and start up again so I hope that it doesn't get any worst then what your car is doing.
Erratic Milliken I have one, as well. It's doing the same thing. It's the the transmission control solenoid in mine...about $60 for the part. Prior to changing the solenoid, I tried cleaning the throttle body, which was cheap and probably a good thing, but it didn't fix the problem. Hope this helps.
I would flush the transmission and change the filter. Then add new fluid plus 1 qt of Lucas transmission fix and drive it for about 250 miles and pray. If it doesn't fix it. Get rid of it! Ford's can be pretty decent vehicles but their automatic transmission are somewhat weak and do fail if you don't maintain the transmission regularly ever 25 to 30k miles.
PCV valve .I have a 06 Ford five hundred that had the same problem .if you disconnect the hot battery terminal for a few minutes and put it back on it will start working for awhile but I had a light on and the code was the PCV valve so I fixed it and it was the reason
I have a 2007 ford edge and I thought the transmission was going to drop lol, would drive if I got it up to 3k rpm's. but it was a speed sensor. it's a 3hour job and a $250 part.
my car is the same as the one on the video yesterday start acting like this i change the transmission fluid i take it for a drive today while the engine is cold it wont shift to the second so i slow down the gear kick ( loud kick ) then it run normal i dont know what gonna happen when i drive it tomorrow
@giannial1985 That's actually wrong. The Transmission is a Ford 6F35 Transmission, not a Mazda one. The 6-Speed Manual is a Ford one, but the Automatic is not. You are right about the 2.5L Engine and the Chassis being Mazda, though.
i recently have the same problem. the wrench light came on and when i press the gas it hardly moves. i shut it off and it stopped doing it for a while now its doing it again
Our 2011 fusion has 10k miles and the transmission acts up, it slips sometimes, it's more noticeable in reverse. It's a company car, otherwise I think it's junk. Took it into ford and they said it was normal.
What I dont get is the 6L60-E in the Malibu was is practically the same transmission as this 6F. But the 6L60-E is doesnt have many wide spread problems, if any. So why does the Ford version?
@gusherb94 Umm... did you actually read what I said? Almost all of the comments I've read over various videos with people experiencing this same thing have said that once Ford updated the computer, and fixed any major problems caused by the issue in the first place, their cars worked fine.
Get the lifters checked, that's what could be the problem we have a Honda Odyssey which is the same story, chugging when you put it into R or D, trouble in shifting because it slips, and does that slamming chugging thing right when it shifts or when you take off, Same thing. get the lifters checked out. We were told that would be the problem.
POST RELEVENT COMMENTS!!! No one cares about your opinions!! I am searching all over trying to find out what is wrong with my car, not your views on car manufacturers!
It seems most people with this problem had the issue resolved after Ford fixed what all got broke and got the updated computer from Ford to fix this issue.
Get it serviced then go from there. Could just be low on fluid. But who knows... Rebuild/replacements on Automatics are a fortune. That's why I have a manual. just see how you go.
For anyone saying this is Ford's quality, I'm guessing this is more of a previous owner issue. They probably treated it like shit to damage it, as it was getting repo'd anyways.
I hope you did not drive that car in this condition for very long because if the transmission was not bad before, it is now due to the slippage. These cars have a defective valve body that causes loss of hydraulic pressure on the forward clutch. This also being a CVT transmission means that when it starts to have problems it will remain problematic and is very expensive to replace. Could be why you bought it at the auction lol.
It’s not a cvt. It’s a six speed automatic. He was definitely sticking his foot deeper in the throttle than he should have been considering he knows it has a problem.
American know to make a great v6 and v8 engine, they don't know how to make a good transmission though. it's fixer repair an engine than repair a transmission. Ford Fusion gets a lot of problems like transmission, throttle body, AWD system, electric steering box. this car is a bomb with wheels.!!!
Weird... This happened when I delivered a 2001 Accord coupe with my uncle to the warehouse. The engine, ABS, maintenance, and SRS light was on. The cars tranny was gone too and it had a fluctuating idle in Drive and Neutral. Ruined,
These transmission problems people are talking about is freaking me out. My mom has a 10' ford fusion with about 55,000 miles and the engine has become increasingly loud and the shifts are becoming a little bit rough and taking a bit to long. She still has 2 years of payments though. But she has the gap insurance, maybe i'll park it under a old tree the next tornado warning.
This does seem like it's more likely that it's something to do with the throttle. The drive by wire system could also be involved, it may not be sensing the peddle position correctly/consistently or the computer that controls the throttle may be bad, either of which would explain why the engine speed is so erratic.
Rock hound its a bit late now, but if it stalls it is most likely recall 13N03. electric throttle body failure. mine was doing the same thing, but instead of revving it would lose all forward power and stall. Took it to dealer and find out about recall.
same exact thing with my fusion...at 144,000 miles i had to replace the transmission...2nd gear was gone and codes pulled up suggested something internal was failing...the shop couldnt rebuild it so had to put a used one in....ive been told by several mechanics that transmission problems in ford fusions are common ...i have an explorer as well and its insane how many common probs they have....wont own another ford after the transmission thing...who knows whats next..i can probly figure it out or what to expect by lookin on youtube...its bullshit and irritating..just a lil bit..
@DoorisJ 55000 miles huh? How often have you been changing the transmission oil, the timing belt, the motor oil and oil filter? Also, when was the last time you checked the engine reinforcement, the bars that keep the engine in place? If one of the bars is loose, the engine can vibrate, even the car, and it will make it sound a lot louder. Oh, and next time, buy a car that's made by one of the countries in the Axis powers during WW2.
Well just because you have a snobby BMW doesn't meab you wont have problems, infact you'll probably have quite a few expensive ones once your warranty goes out. I've heard enough people complain about BMWs in my days to know that they have their fair share of issues (and expensive ones at that) too.

I have the same issues what was the problem
It is the solinoids in the transmission
C.J. Price simple reflash.
This is why i like manuals (haha, coming from a guy who drives an auto), they're SOOOOOOOOOO much more reliable.
We get it back and it
There are no lifters in a transmission. Lifters are in the engine, part of the valve train. I hardly think Honda issues apply to domestic vechicles.
did they tow it with the drive wheels on the ground rolling?...that could have possibly damaged the transmission, burning out clutches ect
07 CBR1000RR how u resolve this
How much is this part
bough a used 2010 Fusion last year for cheap from company I work. a few months ago it started doing this and a few weeks later the reverse went out. my mechanic said that Ford sudan transmissions from 2006-2012 are pure garbage and he has seen many come in. $3,500 to replace . Ford knew they were garbage and offered a "customer satisfaction fix" instead of a recall and it was only good until 2011.
Black Pullet what did you ended up doing to solve the problem? If you don’t mind me asking
From my endless research, the transmission like the one in the video was only used in the 2010 and newer fusions and not the 2006-2009 model years.
I have a 2009 doing the same thing cost of valve body is 750 bucks any other idea what else
A: your transmissions blown, B: you don't floor it that way what so ever and C:. I heard you say it was re-possessed so you should've asked for its history, it's pre-owner very likely abused it!!
I have a 2011 fusion and I have no issues
Jeremy Ladue most ppl don't have issues. Good maintenance is key with any machine.
Literally not expensive at all to fix lol
SMH more gears more problems lol thank goodness for 4 speeds!!!!
Honestly I’d rather have it high rev but still actually shift than how it typically Short Shifts at 3k.
My 2012 sport will not shift out of 1st at high RPM.
WHY??
Quite common on Fusions, my grandmother has been through 3 transmissions on her 2010 Fusion
We've been through one on my 2006.
Huh well I know mazda is somehow involved with ford but I didn't know the fusion has a five speed.
The same with my 2011Ford Fusion smh..
Throttle body
@@Northenddoda96 what you mean throttle body ?? Explain more
my ford fusion slips just a little bit which after a while, the whole engine shakes and I've got to pull over and turn the car off for 10-15 seconds and start up again so I hope that it doesn't get any worst then what your car is doing.
My 2010 ford fusion is doing the same thing! Did you ever find the cause of it?
Erratic Milliken I have one, as well. It's doing the same thing. It's the the transmission control solenoid in mine...about $60 for the part. Prior to changing the solenoid, I tried cleaning the throttle body, which was cheap and probably a good thing, but it didn't fix the problem. Hope this helps.
That is rough... someone really didn't take good care of this car...
what is the ending of the story?
Keep the tach in the red zone. Engines like that and if you do it for about 5 minutes straight, the transmission will be fixed.
1:40 dude smash’s vtec lol jk
It's the speed sensor bro I have a 2010 4 cylander it does the same thing
I have a 2007 ford edge and I thought the transmission was going to drop lol, would drive if I got it up to 3k rpm's. but it was a speed sensor. it's a 3hour job and a $250 part.
Where was the speed sensor located?
Inside the transmission
I test drove a brand new 2012 that wouldn't go into gear and when I finally did, it did it with a loud bang.
my car is the same as the one on the video yesterday start acting like this i change the transmission fluid i take it for a drive today while the engine is cold it wont shift to the second so i slow down the gear kick ( loud kick ) then it run normal i dont know what gonna happen when i drive it tomorrow
@giannial1985
That's actually wrong.
Cassandra Vincent I’m having the same problem
How did you fix it?
that is my exact situation. know its been 5 years but how'd you fix it?
My 2010 ford fusion sports did this till I took it in for a throttle body recall
Have you tried changing the tran fluid & filter?
What was the outcome of this? What was it and did i get fixed?
What ended up being wrong with that Ford fusion mine is doing the same thing
im having the same problem. mkm230 did you figure out what was your problem. im fusion is doing the same thing but not as harsh
this is happening to my 2010 fusion seL right now and it sucks. can’t even put it in park without pbrake.
From what I undertand the 2.5L Escapes do indeed have this issue
POST RELEVENT COMMENTS!!! No one cares about your opinions!! I am searching all over trying to find out what is wrong with my car, not your views on car manufacturers!
Look for FordtechMakuloco on TH-cam. He is a FORD tech and has a lot of videos on problems with FORD cars and trucks.
Is that a CVT transmission?
It seems most people with this problem had the issue resolved after Ford fixed what all got broke and got the updated computer from Ford to fix this issue.
Mkm230 did you even find out what was wrong with this car I'm having same issue .
Im having that same problem on my 06 fusion. Recommend you ditch the car. Just my preference.
Get it serviced then go from there. Could just be low on fluid. But who knows... Rebuild/replacements on Automatics are a fortune. That's why I have a manual. just see how you go.
I have this problem same on my Ford Escape 2013 only 40k miles, I don’t know why
Transmission
Bad valve body with shift solenoid,I fix those junk easily
hey this just started happening to me how do i fix it
Hey what’s wrong with it
Could you let me know
For anyone saying this is Ford's quality, I'm guessing this is more of a previous owner issue. They probably treated it like shit to damage it, as it was getting repo'd anyways.
@MrMK94
Yup, I feel exactly the same way!
what was the problem mkm230?
I hope you did not drive that car in this condition for very long because if the transmission was not bad before, it is now due to the slippage. These cars have a defective valve body that causes loss of hydraulic pressure on the forward clutch. This also being a CVT transmission means that when it starts to have problems it will remain problematic and is very expensive to replace. Could be why you bought it at the auction lol.
It’s not a cvt. It’s a six speed automatic. He was definitely sticking his foot deeper in the throttle than he should have been considering he knows it has a problem.
I know this been a while.. but did you ever find out the reason this was happening???
Isn't there a recall for this?
But she has the gap insurance, maybe i'll park it under a old tree the next tornado warning.
areyou still poor?
you know i think i have heard of many indicents where the transmissions fail in Fusions.. I dont remember where i saw it though..
I have a 2010 Ford Fusion and I'm having the exact same problem... I got the transmission flushed and I'm still having the same problem...
Sheila Cusick have u got it fixed?
my transmission went out tonight at work. i hope they can fix it. wtf. this is not normal for a car.
I think ford shoukdd used the Aisin F21 6 speed trans instead the 6F35!!! The F21 is more reliable
So how u fix
i think there was a recall on this issue
This does seem like it's more likely that it's something to do with the throttle. The drive by wire system could also be involved, it may not be sensing the peddle position correctly/consistently or the computer that controls the throttle may be bad, either of which would explain why the engine speed is so erratic.
Mine does it but it stalls instead of revving at 8000 rpm
yeah mine stalls
Rock hound its a bit late now, but if it stalls it is most likely recall 13N03. electric throttle body failure. mine was doing the same thing, but instead of revving it would lose all forward power and stall. Took it to dealer and find out about recall.
Wow! that's the same thing that happens to my fusion....
mine is almsot the same bro
Going through this same thing until 2 days ago it just stopped driving, it will go in reverse but not drive
same exact thing with my fusion...at 144,000 miles i had to replace the transmission...2nd gear was gone and codes pulled up suggested something internal was failing...the shop couldnt rebuild it so had to put a used one in....ive been told by several mechanics that transmission problems in ford fusions are common ...i have an explorer as well and its insane how many common probs they have....wont own another ford after the transmission thing...who knows whats next..i can probly figure it out or what to expect by lookin on youtube...its bullshit and irritating..just a lil bit..
you think the Aisin Warner F21 6 speed usen in the first generation Fusion was better that the 6F35 I really think it is
Its 100% transmission. Coz its not shifting gears. You need to replace new or used transmission
1:42
get it scanned see what errors show up
maybe a bad torque converter
Im having the same problems with my 2010 Ford Fusion SE V4
My 2010 doing the same thing do you know what it is
I don't know, maybe next to no transmission fluid
All cars can have problems, that doesnt mean Fusion are junk.
Great cars highly recommended by JD Powers & Consumers Reports! This car was repossessed..anything couldve happened.
What does that have to do with got out was designed?
Ouch sorry u having so much issues and i thought FORD was stepping up there game with there cars cause FOOD FUSION looks like a nice car, but i do know someone telling me before they had a RECALL FOR TRANSMISSION at some time
