I am really in a limbo as a Z3 owner because I hear a lot about the potential of the E36 engine as a mod car. However, I also see BMWs appreciating over time and am looking into keeping it as a classic. I would definitely like to have a Z3 tuner, as it's a hot car, but I also want to preserve the car's background as being the 2nd owner of it (first being my mom), and it meaning much to her (as well as me). It feels like a "Herbie" car in that it has a soul of it's own. I don't want to taint that and make it modified, but it has much potential. any recommendations that I should consider? Coilovers, short-ram intake, new blinker lights, blacked-out vents? And a final note for fellow Z3 owners: I prefer a soft-top myself as the car is my daily driver. Living in Florida, it's much more fun to drive with the top down, blaring your music, out in the sunshine that people move and travel for. However, if you're going for a hard-core track build, save up for a hard top as it will be more aerodynamic.
Great to hear!! I have a brand new soft top I just installed a couple months ago for Cali weather. Probably the best mod by far will definitely be some new coilovers and performance tires like foresrine Indy 500. The cheapest coils you would probably wanna get is godspeed’s but I would pick up some bc racing coils. Makes the whole car a different beast. Also I have no performance upgrades on my engine at all it’s a 2.8 but I would like to later down the road or swap an s52 motor in. But I say first mods is suspension over all
I was planning on doing a suspension mod first anyways so that confirms that portion. I looked into BC Racing Coilovers but I asked for an opinion from a BMW mechanic and they recommended KSport coilovers. They are a little more expensive but they said they're way higher quality. I'll see what would be best for me. Thanks for the recommendation!

No bro ur good. Honestly if you buy one from someone that has taken care of it and done maintenance then it will take care of you. The only thing I can’t stress enough is all coolant hoses and cooling system needs to be changed out after 100k miles or your car will end up overheating at some point. Change spark plugs and run 5w40 or 0w40 in the 6 cylinder motors. But honestly my car still runs strong as hell. It got 177k miles. Just gotta watch out for leaks too

@@hustlersmindset9709 I mean the m52 2.8 you can never go wrong with an m52. Most reliable I believe. The 3.0 is an m54 and I haven’t heard things about it much but I have the 2.8 abs iv’e had the car for 3 years
I actually have new wheels that I just put on not to long ago that’s perfect figment as well without spacers. Those wheels had spacers the one I have now are 18x8.5 35offset in the front with a 235/40 tire and the rear is a 18x9.5 with 33 offset. With a 265/35 tire in the rear. Fits perfectly no rubbing at all and look like a track car now

Hmmm honestly most companies don’t make small enough seats, don’t get me wrong these seats fit perfect and have some room. It was mainly the bracket, oem seat belt buckle and just it being a really small car so you don’t have room for your hands haha. But the bracket was alittle wider so that’s why it was being a bitch, but there are some corbeau seats that will fit I believe. If you go on z3 forums people talk about bucket seats but yeah the ones I have fit hood it’s just the other things that messed it up. If I have a harness i’d have no issue
It’s more like a chattering noise when releasing only in first and reverse. I guarantee you it’s my throwout bearing and guide tube that’s making it skip when I release
yo i just got my Z3 back in November 2020 and it was well taken care of and now I'm looking to make some performance upgrades. the first thing i replaced was a carrier barring which seems like a common problem in Z3s. whats an estimate to make all those upgrades for smoother driving? mines is at 164k miles now
I’d probably replace all the bushings with polyurethane bushings but it can get pretty expensive. For myself I only have coilovers and just did a bunch of maintenance on my new clutch and all that

Trust me don’t cheap out, the only ones under 600$ is eBay coilovers and you really don’t want to go there. At least get the godspeeds which have camber adjusting and dampening

If you only have a soft top they fit without a problem, the only thing is the hardtop goes into the car alittle more so when I recline the seat it touches the side of it, but I have mine positioned where I’m keeping it there. But there are other seats like corbeau idk which other seats fit

And for performance my 2.8 is great for canyons but if I’m gonna make it faster I’d want a supercharger or turbo it everything is a lot just only 30hp
