Besides the scorpion, I think the scariest death is actually running out of light in the monastery. There's something so harrowing watching the screen fade deeper into darkness and the sense of hopelessness that comes with it.
The art in this game is much higher quality than that of Infested. Thanks for getting all of these collected in one place! Death screens are just as important as the gameplay in these adventure games!
Love the little nods to Uninvited and Shadowgate. The floating red blob guardian (Uninvited), the Gem you give to the red blob Guardian (Uninvited), the spell “Niahc” similar to the Epor spell (Shadowgate), the Well you flip the moon coin in (Shadowgate). I’m sure there are many more.
The BIG boulder crashing down on you if you attempt to pass under it. This may reference a trap in Shadowgate where - in the catacombs - if you try to go into a side passage a concrete slab above you gives way and crushes you underneath it.

When you learn the spell you get a warning that the direct path may lead to death. You need to use the spell on a smaller rock on that screen to enter.

I did not play the game nor really know it, but I am just gonna lean myself out of the window and say you missed one. Or maybe two. Namely: First, there is no death for disobeying the magician at the start and attempting to flee? Seriously? Would be weird if there wouldnt be one. Second: I think there may be a variation of the end where you enter with a mask but dont have the instruments. Since from what I can see you had a variation for without instruments and mask and a variation for instruments but no mask I am guessing there may be a 3. These random death videos are always fun to watch, though to be honest I kinda expected more…. obscure ways to die. Also in the video game deaths playlist there is one video missing, the one with the mastery of the magic ( = its a wonder how an eyeless archer has such good aim ;b ) Welp thats all from the random guy out of the shadows, have a nice day.
Thanks for the feedback! I think you're referring to Mage's Initiation for the playlist - I'll take a look and add that if so. For this game though, there doesn't appear to be a death related to refusing to obey the magician at the beginning (it's possible they didn't feel a death at the very start was needed rather than make the only acceptable action being to get in the box). The finale remains the same if you are wearing a mask but don't have the magic instrument (it seems to prioritize instrument over the mask). If you do have the mask and instrument it doesn't seem like you can lose even though there are two actions you need to make (to give the instrument to the assistant and then play the flute - doing anything else doesn't result in death).

Thanks for the updates! If I recall, jumping out the room with the falcon gives the same death message as jumping out another room in that area, which is why I didn't include it. I think that disturbing the beast while it's eating has the same death message but I'd have to check. Also, for the magician, when I tried to do anything besides give the instrument or play the flute it would just say "you can't do that". Could you explain what you did to get a death for those parts? I tried fooling around there when I initially played but had no luck. I'll try to check them out and upload whatever I missed.
@corjonbett I went back to the endgame but couldn't get a death with the magician when you have the repaired instrument and are wearing the mask, either before or after revealing his demonic form. Any actions just say they don't work. You can suicide with the sabre, but that puts you outside the tent and bugs the game if you already gave the instrument to the assistant. Could you let me know what you did to trigger a death in those two circumstances?

The Ten Years Later death where you wish for a kingdom means you are essentially trapped in alternate dimension you got sent to, because you are supposed to wish for a way home. So you aren't as "trapped" as you are in the Trapped Forever death when you wish for wealth. But what IS the face thing where the lamp used to be?

It's worth playing if you like the Kemco NES ports of Shadowgate, Deja Vu, and Uninvited. The developer of this game also made a similar game called Infested, which they are also remaking.
No, as I've already uploaded a full playthrough and there isn't anything else left to do. I highly recommend this game if you like retro point-and-click adventure games like Shadowgate (and Spectacle is free).
I wouldn't mind replaying a game I'm familiar with (like Shadowgate or Rakuen) to introduce them to other folks who may not have played them in the future. But with several game suggestions already I think I'd try that much later on.

He could have just as well put you in any other room with a huge pile of gold. Since there’s literally nobody else there, power is just as good as wealth: completely useless. Putting you in the tomb just makes it somewhat more poetic.
Genies take your wish 100% literally for the sole purpose of fucking you over. You're the one that just told him you want wealth and humans consider all those things riches. If you trust any genie that's not the one from Aladdin, that's on you.

The creature that has a portal into space is a refference to the mirror in Shadowgate that does the same if you break it.
