My very favorite living players since I was 9-10 years old are Rickey Henderson & Dave Winfield. I never knew he was sick and this is god awful news…

I was 7 when he broke into mib, 19 when he broke the sb record, and 31 when he retired. RIP Rickey

Worked hard to become a versatile player and always had fun. Pitchers & catchers were beside themselves when he was on base.

Rickey was the greatest I've ever seen. More than just stats. He inspired millions of kids. We all loved him in the 80s & 90s as kids.

Will never forget his late career brilliance in 1999. What a great job he did uplifting the team & his stats as well.

All time runs scored leader too! I tried to play like him when I was playing. He was one of the all time greats!

Ricky did not pass away. He just stepped up into the Kingdom of God. Always watched when Ricky played, none better.

Lots of credit to the studio team and these guests, especially Al Leiter, you can tell this was not easy for ANY of them. But, they wanted to make sure the legend of Rickey was fun, accurate, and not just about stealing bags.

One of the all time greats. His stolen base records are incredible, but talking about just his base stealing abilities really doesn't show how great of an overall player he was. He was so good, and so well rounded for so damn long. Aside from his insane base stealing he was by far the greatest leadoff hitter of all time, he had over 3000 hits, he hit almost 300 HR's, and he had a career .401 OBP. He scored the most runs of an player in history, with 2295. He has more unintentional walks than any other player. He was insanely fast, he was insanely smart, he was insanely disciplined at the plate, he was great at batting for average, AND he was pretty damn good at hitting home runs too! I could go on forever about how impressive Rickey was as a player

I saw him play in the minor league for the JERSEY CITY INDIANS in 1978, he hit a foul ball that i caught, and even back then he was the star of the team!!
