I Love this version , and also this guitar solo . But don't get me wrong , I love Emppu's solos and overall playing , just this one was nice and smoky and salty (little bit Carlos Santana vibe). Great reaction Tauri 👏. NWSU 🤘😎🤘.
Hello Tauri. You are correct. Empuu is an amazing guitarist on so many levels. This was a wonderful performance but I still love Floor's live performance of this with Empuu and the band.
There is just one Emppu, but this solo was in another style. More jazzy, like in a dark bar, and the solo from Emppu has more metallic vibes in it. And believe me, this guitarist can play any style of music.
This is exactly correct. You cannot compare the two bands. Both are equally talented. Just one is Pop/Rock and the other is Metal. Floor knows what she is doing bringing this band to her home country who are not metal fans. She gave them 3 sold out shows of Rock n Roll music at it's finest. As for this song Marcel's solo is more fitting for this beautiful jazz infused song. Not better just more fitting. Greetings from the Nightwish Army. Like Tauri said it's a matter of taste.

I'm not a jazz music fan, but I will watch Floor sing anything and like it. Like I always say, I can watch Floor sing anything, even with the sound turned off. She is so awesome visually.

Why would Marcel Fisser, who is a terrific player, not play something different, just as Floor is not trying to sound like Anette? Fisser kills it, as he does with all of his playing in this set. Although this is a ‘jazzy’ song, it is a Nightwish song, and, like Nemo, Everdream etc., it is remodelled and arranged for this group and this concert. I’m glad that Floor didn’t just try to reproduce an ersatz Nightwish sound.

You know the NW version by heart, so you compare like any other would. Perfectly fine. Some context here: NW isn't exactly at home with the jazzy stuff. This is clear in Emppu's solo, which I love. It's simply not jazz. Read somewhere that he didn't know exactly what/how to play, took a few drinks and then it went smoothly ;) So from a jazz standpoint, 'props for the effort' go to Empu. Marcel does play a jazz solo here and it fits perfectly, except when it doesn't match one's expectations derived from the NW version. I enjoy both renditions tremendously.
And there within lies my issue I guess, I haven't ever really listened to Jazz so I do not know the genre well. I just know this particular "jazz" song because it's part of Nightwish's catalogue.

As a metal fan I prefer Emppu’s version. That being said, for what this show was, this version is fantastic and fits perfectly… it was a Floor Jansen show after all Props to the musicians for even attempting this song. I said similar things about the Beste Zangers musicians. It’s not their usual style

But that's how reactions work, no? People want my honest opinion on a song after a first listen. The guitar solo didn't touch me, which my own personal taste. Perhaps after a few more listens I'll get used to it, but people can't chastise me because I'm giving an honest opinion in that moment.

To be fair, Emppu is one of the top, and most underrated guitarists In the world. Not many can come close to his sound in Nightwish.

I don't know why but this guy's solo gives me shades of Link Wray's song Rumble.
Emppu's playing style in this reminds of that of Chris Rea, one of the best slide guitarists in the business.
