Jimi Hendrix was an unbelievable talent who was otherworldly in just about every way conceivable - I absolutely adore his music - which will last forever. Thanx for the lovely story - very well presented. Errol Flynn too but also very sad. Cheers. Rx

O boy this gets crazzy I knew Robert Crump ( crump twins) he was my Father's friend we went many times to the house just off of renfrew! And several events and dinner even camping lol when I was young he got me into the Blues... Boy could he play, he tought me the hand shake of all times.I sure miss his cool studder and his classic laugh. His Daughter Brenda and I would spend hrs playing with his amps and Guitar's....
Now for more fun Yet! I met Pearl Brown ( Jimmy's favorite aunt) 2 time's and the 2nd time was the best it was a blues cruise that my friend Dave Hoerl (of the band the twisters)and Kenny Wayne (Blues Boss), I spent well over 2 hrs with Pearl and her assistant... she told me stories about Jimmy as a lad & life experiences ! At the end she asked her assistant for ( she was legally blind )something,,.. and she pulled out a CD it was her Album and she handed it to me! Surprised I offered imedetly to pay ...she said no thank you, the talk we had was more then enough, I had tears! Boy ,that was a sureal experience....oh I cherish her music......

Thanks for the great video! I lived in Vancouver all my 45 years. I always thought Jimi went to the school in Nelson park "Sir Rogers Annex" (your most likely correct) There's a Beautiful mural painting of Jimi Hendrix across from the Beatty St Armory you'd most likely enjoy. It's my pleasure to share this with you! Stay cool!

Well, I'm Indian from Prince George. Jimi hung out with a guy from a rez near my Hometown of Fort Saint James, B.C., a place called Tache Rez. They were brothers; his name was Jimmy too. Both played a mean guitar and were like brothers. Both loved the wine and I suspect the drugs. Hendrix like he said is part Indian. Jimi is up there for us, at the top of the totem pole.

Another great video, Rick! A really fine tribute to one of Vancouver's greatest historical personalities, Nora Hendrix, and her amazing grandson Jimi. Your Vancouver rock and roll histories are excellent. I have another one for your consideration----- a great Vancouver rock and roll mystery which has never been solved to this very day!! Maybe you can use your skills in sourcing out this story for your viewers. I'm referring to the late great blues guitarist Mike Bloomfield, 1960s icon who was at one time right up there with Jimi Hendrix. He died in 1981. But in 1974 Bloomfield played a gig at the famous Cave Club in Vancouver. He walked out on the gig, and the owner, Stan Grezina, seized his guitars as compensation. One of those guitars is a legendary 1959 Les Paul Standard. These are the ultimate Holy Grail of rock guitars and can reach prices of around $500,000 US today!! Here's the story from Wikipedia: "Bloomfield eventually lost the guitar in Canada..... a club owner kept the guitar as partial compensation after Bloomfield cut short a round of appearances...The gig in question was at the Cave in Vancouver, booked from Tue. Nov. 12th 1974, for five days, until Sat. the 16th. The band played the first night but the next day, Bloomfield boarded a plane and flew home to San Francisco with virtually no notice to the club, hotel, or band members; his friend Mark Naftalin found a note on a torn piece of paper in the hotel room that read, "bye bye, sorry". Bloomfield's two guitars had been left at the club and were retained by club owner Stan Grozina, who wanted compensation for lost revenues." So Rick---- here's the big question: Is Mike Bloomfield's Les Paul still hidden in somebody's attic or basement, somewhere in the city of Vancouver? Nobody knows! Wouldn't you love to be the guy who finds it?
