지난 18일 갑작스레 세상을 떠난 샤이니 종현(27·본명 김종현)의 빈소 앞에 흰 국화가 하염없이 쌓여갔다. 적막이 흐르는 가운데 조문객들의 발걸음 소리, 조화의 위치를 옮기는 소리가 간간이 공기를 흔들 뿐이었다.
19일 서울 송파구 풍납동 서울아산병원 장례식장 2층에 마련된 빈소에는 오전부터 유족들이 참여한 가운데 입관식이 치러졌다.
오전 11시부터 본격적인 조문이 시작됐고, 상주 자격으로 조문객들을 맞이한 것은 샤이니의 남은 멤버들(민호, 태민, 온유, 키)이었다.
소속사 SM엔터테인먼트 이수만 총괄 프로듀서를 시작으로 종현과 SM에서 한솥밥을 먹던 보아·소녀시대·엑소·NCT를 비롯해 방탄소년단이 비통한 표정으로 빈소에 들어섰다. 소녀시대 윤아는 눈시울을 붉히며 슬픔을 참지 못했다.
영하를 밑도는 추운 날씨에도 팬 수백 명의 발걸음이 끊이지 않았다.
SM은 팬들이 고인의 넋을 기릴 수 있도록 같은 장례식장 지하 1층 3호실에 조문 공간을 마련해 낮 12시부터 조문객을 받았다.
고인의 발인은 오는 21일 오전이며, 장지는 정해지지 않았다.

I'm not a big fan of Shinee but I respect them very much and when I found out I could not believe it. Jonghyun IS a great person, not It matters whether he is alive or dead. I hope it shines up there as much as it did here in the earth. It is sad to think that many people believe that idols do not have
worries, problems, that they have a perfect life. I feel very sad for this and I wish the best to Jonghyun's relatives, his close friends, the Shawols and especially to Shinee.

Don't judge them.. maybe they just want to know/make sure their fav singer/band have paid their last respect to Jonghyun. Because Jonghyun/SHINee is one of the pioneer in 2nd generation KPOP industry, so obviously he deserve respect from other groups/singers. Because I personally would be sad if my fav singer/band didn't show up at Jonghyun's memorial. He deserve so much more.

I Don't Know maybe management should take his suicide as a warning... That they are not paying attention to the emotional well being of their idols. But this suicide to have happened that means that nobody was focusing on their well-being both mental and physical to the point where he was able to commit suicide... There are always signs leading up to a suicide people always cry out for help right before it happens most of the time people want someone to stop them but days before and when no one does and no one shows that they care in the eyes of the victim that's when they commit suicide because they feel like they are completely alone and no one understands them and there is no reason to live anymore... I just hope that he is now at peace, and hopefully his friends and family can soon find peace in their loss of a beautiful soul... :'-(

Exactly. Kpop idols are worked to the bone, and they aren't even completely rewarded for all their hard work. The company gets most of their profits, while the actual members are paid little compared to all the income they're SUPPOSED to receive, and are utterly exhausted for many reasons. I hope this teaches kpop companies a well needed lesson on empathy, human rights, and fair treatment
This feels weird to me because you can tell how idols can become depressed. Even on their way to jonghyun’s service they had to mourn in front of cameras. Things like that make my heart hurt. They’re people just like us and they deserve the respect at least to mourn together without the pressure of the media.

Everyone this is NOT his funeral, this is his public service for fans, colleagues and media. This is what they do in Korea, for years. His privet funeral is on the 21st. Please keep in mind that yes Jonghyun is gone but this is a public function that the media does in Korea, The family approves it. It’s like a public wake. The real test is if any pictures leak from his privet funeral, then that is a problem. Other than that this is legal, morally or not.( by no means am I saying I agree but bashing the media will not bring him back)

I’m making the statement of this situation and going by the statement and events that SM is providing to the public about the events leading up the the funeral. For all of you confused this isn't Jonghyun's official funeral that will be held on the 21st privately & only close family & friends are invited. This is a public memorial set up by SM & the family for fans & colleagues to pay respect. Cameras are here because fans & the media were encouraged to film & partake in Jonghyun's final memorial. The media is quietly covering it as you can hear it is quiet in the building aside from footsteps & maybe an occasional whisper or camera click.
Also: for those wondering why this is happening so quickly as a person who has lost a family member I must say families like to get these official procedures done as quickly as possible in order to grieve privately afterwards.

They are not shoving cameras on anyone's face, its clear that they are at a reasonable distance... And last, this is their job, they live of this, they get paid for recording moments that a lot of people is interested in, and idols know they have to deal with it professionally when they are in public places, its sad and unfair but when you become an idol you have to accept that it won't be easy, and even so there are people and fans that understand how hard it must be for them so we try not to give them a hard time.

Oh god. The thing about funerals (ive been to many unfortunately) is that inevitably u begin to think about all the people uve lost (my older brother passed away 2007 so whenever i go to funerals i always remember him and its hard). So i hope that everyone whos lost a loved one is ok. Its not an environment ud ever want to be in, but life is life i guess...
Jonghyun's case tho makes me go crazy becuase unlike my brothers death (cancer), it was preventable. Those cases are the worst at dealing with becuase something couldve been done. And it wasnt.
His death was not in vain tho. I hope this gives korea and all the ppl in the world a big slap in the face just how SERIOUS mental health is (if all the victims before him hadnt already). Just because u dont understand it or think its just a 'phase' or somone being 'dramatic', doesnt invalidate that its not real.

I hope ppl realise that theyre also human. Honestly the term 'idol' should be changed to 'hard working ppl that can sing, rap and dance.'

as someone who suffers with depression his suicide hit me hard because it's something I can relate to on a personal level, so please don't come at me assuming things .

I was so ready to greet you and your members once the new album came out. So ready to listen to your beautiful songs and lyrics. My heart hurts knowing you went out just wishing to be told "you've done well", when you've been deserving those words for your whole life.

I honestly have no idea what to say other than that my condolences are with his family and group members. I wasn’t ever really a huge fan of Shinee but this has affected me in ways I didn’t think it would.

For all of you confused this isn't Jonghyun's official funeral that will be held on the 21st privately & only close family & friends are invited. This is a public memorial set up by SM & the family for fans & colleagues to pay respect. Cameras are here because fans & the media were encouraged to film & partake in Jonghyun's final memorial. The media is quietly covering it as you can hear it is quiet in the building aside from footsteps & maybe an occasional whisper or camera click

I see people asking to delete this. FYI, this is a PUBLIC memorial. The actual funeral will be private and no media will cover it. And as you can see, they were merely filming the celebrities coming up and down, maybe just to inform the public who came to give respect to Jonghyun and not filming them in the actual memorial.

it’s clear as day that these artists don’t wish to be filmed. this is so disrespectful, even if filming was allowed. especially when they’re mourning over the death of a loved one. some are crying and even trying to cover their faces, you’d think that would be a hint to turn away and not capture them in their vulnerable states, but no. they’re artists, but they’re human beings above it all. the media needs to learn how to respect that.

None of them look mentally prepared.... it's so sad watching them try to nonchalantly cover their swollen faces from crying for hours from the cameramen.
