- This is another video in my series “Walks in Hampshire” accompanied by my Whippet (Logan). In this episode I am the village of Ovington which is about 2 miles West of New Alresford & 5 miles North East of Winchester.
I take a short circular route of just over 2 miles to the North & West of the village - crossing the River Itchen to explore the little hamlet of Itchen Stoke.
Starting at the Church of St Peter in Ovington, I wander through the village admiring the beautiful thatched cottages & timber framed buildings, making my way South towards the Bush Inn (where I had parked my car).
After crossing the River Itchen (in full flow after recent rain), I walk along a path between the river & a mill race towards another small bridge which takes me to Itchen Stoke where I get to explore the amazing St Marys Church.
My route then takes me South over water meadows and then back over the River Itchen again before my homeward leg to Ovington, passing a field of Alpacas along the way.
I was filming on a glorious sunny morning in mid November and the Autumnal colours of the leaves on the trees (gold, brown & yellow) where quite magical to see.
