The Backlogs Challenged Me to One Shot Every Dark Souls Boss and Mini-Boss

- Lemon from the channel / @thebacklogs has organized a Dark Souls One Shot Contest based on the classic low level one shot challenge by / @vageta311 . Me and several other challenge runners participated using a scoring system with the maximum score of 130 points. (I mistakenly said 140 in the video) However, scoring points isn't merely about getting a high score, as you're only allowed to level up based on the amount of points you've managed to obtain. And one very important rule: NO GLITCHES!

It was really one-derful to participate in this contest. Rough at times, but with Lemon, the juice is certainly worth the squeeze. Given the immense amount of footage he has to sort through, it will likely take at least another month before his video comes out. Now to be clear, the part with everyone's score was merely a joke. I don't actually know anyone's score yet. It is however clear to me based on the points I've lost that I'm not gonna be the winner. So... guess we'll have to find out who will prevail in the end...
I couldn't include all but basically it contained every non-respawning enemy with a handful of exceptions, like the toxic blowdart guys, the chaos eaters near the red titanite slab, the dragon butts in Izalith, Priscilla and the Asylum Demon.
Oh and to add insult to injury regarding the dragon torso stone... not only was it not functional because of the casting time, but it apparently wouldn't have worked in the first place even if you could cast quickly enough. I thought the torso stone buffed any type of damage, but apparently it doesn't boost the damage of spells.

21:05 If you acquire chaos Pyromancy or speak to the Daughter of Chaos or Blighttown witch, then speak to Laurentius, he'll ask you where you learned your Pyromancy. If you select Yes to tell him, the next time you leave and return to Firelink, he'll be gone and the next time you go to Blighttown, he'll be hollow and attack you on sight. So you inadvertently send him to his doom and lose a vendor if you try to return the favor of teaching Pyromancy.
I was so mad when this happened on my first playthrough.
Laurentius is your only friend in this game, sometimes its better if they're on a need-to-know basis and withhold the information 😭

For a lot of them it was easier than you'd think.
But er... for some... it was not so easy...
FUN FACT: You can one shot Taurus Demon with the BKS right outside his tower
Wait... you mean before he even jumps onto the bridge? How does that work?
@@PressContinue Well no. You have to enter the arena and trigger the boss to come down, but the damage from the BKS you can get outside his arena is more than enough to make him past tense in one plunge. Sorry for my poor explanations in the first comment
If youre a casual player you can choose black bombs as starting gift and kill Asylum Demon before even getting your weapons. It wont one shot but its pretty funny
At first I was really happy to see you participating in that contest, but I was not expecting you to suffer this much from it. Jumping back into a window from the ground to twenty second floor is pretty difficult and it shows how difficult this was. Great video, still! We're proud of you for beating the challenge!

This seemed like a well deserved break from all the insanity you went through in your couple last challenge runs, then i saw the end game... you just cant escape the insanity cant you? Was nice seeing you actually do damage to bosses again tho! Ive seen a few of these challenge runs, so i cant wait for Lemon to come out with the full compilation as well.
Well... given the hours upon hours upon hours of Manus attempts, not even counting the drake farming and soul farming for dex, I'm nor sure it was much of a break...

Yeah and it was not a joke. It's literally what happened. We had a special discord server for this challenge with all the participants (REALLY fun time to be hanging out with all the other challenge runners) and when Manus finally went down, I immediately wanted to celebrate my victory in discord... and then it happened...

@5:24 Yulia is the name of the merchant's uchigatana. If you listen to all his dialogues, he mentions how she'll bite your fingers off if you don't handle her properly, or something along those lines.

5:20 Yulia possibilities: 1) She (her head) is in the washtub. 2) Yulia is the name of the Uchigatana. 3) Yulia is the name of the Female Undead Merchant, who used to be trapped in a barrel, but escaped, and the washtub is actually the remains of the broken barrel. My favorite is number 1, but most people seem to prefer number 2.

You killed Reah of Thorolund! I can't believe this! Also, my own route would've probably been to kill Pinwheel, rescue Reah from Vince and Nico, and only THEN kill Petrus. Then go to the Undead Parish and buy "Wrath of the Gods" for 10K Souls from Reah. Kill Solaire for the Sunlight talisman and later on do 'a little' farming to get the Darkmoon talisman. The AoE of Wrath of the Gods could have given a more consistent damage output for the Four Kings (not sure about 1-shot capability though, as it deals magic damage).

Ok, just a thought about the 4 Kings:
Could you equip rtsr and magic boost ring, dusk crown and havel armor, then cast power within once the 4th king spawned, and see if one hit by a king is enough to drain you into rtsr range while casting fire tempest? (Or start the fight with a fixed amount of hp missing so a certain attack would bump you into rtsr range)
Would require some insane RNG, but might be possible. That way you can cast while getting hit and have the pillars go nuts on the kings.
On discord someone tried using debug mode with all 4 kings clustered together and their AI turn off. Fire tempest still wasn't enough since you have to sacrifice a ring slot while in the abyss. It's not just a matter of getting lucky, it has to be something more specific. Something additional would be required
I'm curious, without the point rule, so for casual gamers, what would you suggest if you want to make 1 shot builds (without the restrictions)? Pump up Intelligence to 50+ and get Dark Bead asap and before that the Black Knight Halberd or some bonk weapon? Nice video and completed challenge run! :D
Well to be fair, without the point system the run wouldn't be all that different, because leveling up was almost never really the issue. After all, pyromancy doesn't rely on points at all. So it's mainly strength for melee at first and intelligence for dark bead and crystal souls spear later.

Challenge idea for ds2. (Don't ask me how you would set this up, just think it would be a neat idea and don't think anyone has done it.) What if you start out with 99 of every of stat, but because you spend so much time in majula you start to forget your memories. Your talents. Every in game minute (or 30 seconds) you lose a point in a random stat. So it truly is a race against time before you forget everything. (Obviously taking on all bosses, no skips etc etc)(I mean sure you did the negative level character but hey I think it's a cool spin on it cannonically speaking)
