Wurz was a drinking buddy; we both loved the same bands around various pubs. He loved talking about his time in the Glosters, was wonderfully eccentric and laid back, and just a really lovely bloke to be around. I hope that he and Phil are rocking it up somewhere with Lemmy tonight
I knew Wurzel in Cheltenham, he played with a band called "Poacher Brown", played in the rugby club and the Pavillion. I got to know him when he lived in the Derryanne Guest House, he had a pet rat and a great train set, what a fabulous gent.
So great to see Wurzel and Lem jamming onstage, healthy and happy. But sad to know that they're gone, and Motorhead is left for the fans to carry on. RIP Wurzel, Lemmy, Philthy, and Eddie. A toast in your memory.
I was lucky enough to see this lineup of the band live in 1987 (Edinburgh Scotland). Myself and 3 friends also got to meet the band in their dressing room after the show. They were down to earth normal blokes with a great sense of humour. Oh, and they could drink...
If there's a heaven, find Dime and show the angels your metal face. Thank you for all that you've contributed to music. You will never be forgotten. And now, rest.
What a lovely lot of memories and moments with Wurz, my brother, so great to find this. Miss him and his sense of humour, we had a lot of laughs. Hope he is at peace now. ❤️❤️😜❤️❤️
I used to sit with him and a few mates, listening to CAN, Hawkwind, Todd Rundgren and the Sensational Alex Harvey Band! Before he became famous! Always a really beautiful person! We miss ya!
Wurzel gave me all his tapes! We were getting stoned in Paul Dutton's flat and Wurzel asked me which tracks I liked? I said the Steve Hillage type ones! Everyone fell about laughing? Idon't know why, I thought Wurzel did trance really good! Ahead of his time!
This is a great tribute, to one of my favourite personalities in rock. Remember seeing him in the Hippodrome London. When they had their Rock nights. He smiled approvingly at my Motorhead, Rock "n" Roll. Tour shirt. R.I.P. X
Just read this comment. I used to listen to Wurzel practice, he lived in a place called the "Derryanne Guest House" in Cheltenham, I was 15. Then we used to get into the rugby club or the Pavillion, see him playing with Poacher Brown, then "A Band Called Bastard". Later I got to know him really well, just before he joined Motorhead. One time he came round to my house, there was 2 Hell's Angels helping my Dad with his Triumph 500, and Wurzel playing a cassette of his latest tunes, my Ma asking if anyone wanted a cup of tea, haha. Later she said to me, "I like Michael he's a very polite boy".
good old mick, i served with him in germany we served in the gloucestershire reg. we had some good laughs, i wonder if dave gillam kept in touch with him they were good mates ps i think that was his name, keep rocking mick
Well if there is a God, there's gonna be one hell of a party going on up there in the sky, Rock in Peace Wursel your fans will miss you but your music will continue to echo on in every theatre, Arena, and stage you've ever cut a riff on !!!
Paul Dutton, I hope you read this coz I miss you! Sitting in your flat in Pitville and Wurzel laughing when I said I like the Steve Hillagey ones! I still have those tapes, Poacher Brown, A Band Called Bastard, the stuff he did with Jazz Coleman! Please Paul get in touch! I've tried every other way to contact you!
It’s called ‘Motörhead Live- Everything Louder than Everything Else’ and it’s brilliant! You can still buy it and there’s plenty of 2nd hand ones on eBay. ♠️
